CHAPTER 93

Chapter NINETY THREE
The days were not easy for the trio; Avyanna, Baron, and Nancy. Not just for them, but also for the people in their respective territory.
The sky was not all blue and friendly rather it was dark red and reeking of danger. It knew that the times were perilous and its color made the shiny verdant grasses seem like they were soaked in blood.
The birds and even that bats were no longer seen in the day or at night.
The news of Theseus spreaded like wild fire among the realms and kingdoms. Every creature had heard rumors about the dark master and the three creatures that dared him.
Some heard the ‘A’ part of the story and others ‘Z’. It was rumored that the dark master wanted Avyanna for marriage but she refused and incurred his wrath. Others heard that Nancy wanted the dark master’s power, so she had to team up with her greatest enemies, as it was the recommendation for her to succeed. Some said that Baron had gone to confront the dark master, he told him to stay away from the one he loved, or he would kill him. Others heard that Ericson, the late ex-husband of Avyanna and Puppet to Nancy, had appeared to the dark master, and had requested for a second chance, so the only way the dark master could honor his wish was if he made his sister Vanessa, lure them to his trap, so they would be sacrificed for him to be reincarnated. Others heard that the dark master was the long-lost relation and he promised her late parents’ that he would protect her from wickedness in the world and teach her how she would thrive.
Whatever the news was, it spreaded like wildfire.
The creatures that lived on the Eastern region believed Avyanna had tried to play smart with the Dark Master. They believed she asked for his power so she could haunt Baron for killing Ericson, her late ex-husband.
The creatures at the south side said the Dark Master wanted to make Avyanna his queen in the spirit realm, so that even if he died centuries later, they would dwell together.
The rumors kept spreading like wildfire. None of the rumors included the fallen Thomas; the one who had died in battle with the dark master, it wandered from the worst of opinion to the least, and some even said that the dark master was the father to Avyanna who wanted to be close to his daughter. Some even told their families that whatever had happened between the creatures and the Dark Master, the creatures must have been the cause of it.
The rumors never included the real fight between them and the dark master, it never revealed how the Dark Master had manipulated myriads of creatures into doing his evil deeds. How he destroyed their homes, souls and mind, ripping away the very word ‘childhood’ from them. How he had made them know nothing other than violence, when all these creatures wanted was to avenge their parents and give peace to their unsettled mind. How he down played the importance of their lives. How their lives were nothing but an added advantage for him to establish his stead of evil.
None of the rumors explained how he had killed ten thousand creatures every week, because they could not perform the craft of his evil enterprise. The people who raised the rumors were probably scared to say the truth. Maybe they feared what he may do to them and the ones they loved.
If Theseus Brute, Dark lord, Ruler of Uncertainty, the Devil, the Terror of Rome could kill the very creatures that worked all their lives to please him and, sometimes even put their lives on the line, then what worth were they to him?
Maybe they feared he had telekinetic abilities and could hear them; so they preferred to not say the truth, and tried even better not think it. Parents warned their children not to share the story, while orphans tried not to even hear the story.
The Dark Master had made his impression in the minds of every werewolf. They feared to even mention his name. This Dark Master collected a dozen or more lives from each of all creatures and the living ones felt his dread upon them, even though they had never seen the dark master.
Avyanna, Baron and Nancy, sat on separate rocks under a tree. Avyanna asked if anyone of them heard the rumors spread by the creatures.
“Yeah, it’s annoying. They do not even speak of Alpha Thomas who rivalled the dark lord.” Nancy said.
“They speak of me like I am a weakling.” Baron added.
“Rumors or not, one thing remains and that is he is coming and we have to kill him.” Avyanna said, “We pretty much have a good start already with our plans.”
Avyanna believed that if they strongly believed that the dark master was as powerful as they had exaggerated it then when they defeated him, it would make their names travel farther than his name had travelled.
Nancy told them that she was not bothered about her reputation, so long she knew that the dark master had died.
Baron on the other hand was determined to end the tyranny of Theseus. He believed whatever Avyanna believed. He knew that if they were prepared, Theseus would go down. He just wanted his people to shut out the noise of rumor and whatever may come. He advised that all their aim should be more focused on how they would defeat the evil Brute, especially now that they had a valuable amount of information about the dark master.
Nancy looked at the sky, the valleys and even the grasses. They all gave her signals that Theseus would return. Nancy then told Avyanna and Baron that they had to be on alert. She said she knew Theseus Brute was somewhere either in time or somewhere they could all see. She informed that he was arranging a comeback battle and for every time she watched him prepare for a come back battle, he won.
“So if we have plans to win, we need to make plans that the ones before us did not make. We need to think of something no one else has thought about.” This made her think of Thomas. He was the thorough one who would have known what had to be done.
Baron agreed with Nancy, he told her not to over think it because he had the belief that they would defeat the great dark master. All they had to do was array the ideas they had gotten, and also write down the plan.

Avyanna was happy that they were concerned about putting Theseus and his wickedness away, but she did not want him to be the topic of every conversation they had. They could talk about something else, maybe their past, something they liked to share or better still the bitter truth that Theseus had revealed about them. She wanted them to talk about something entirely not about Theseus, so she was going to start. She was going to tell them about her past life.
“I was not living my best life before I died, I had struggles, fears, unsettled mind and the likes, then You…” Avyanna pointed at Nancy, “You ended my life by slitting my throat.”
“What?” Nancy gasped. “That was never my instruction although I always fantasized about it.”
“This is all mind blowing. Time travel has always been a myth.” Baron said.
“Yeah. You know, my whole life was centered around my parents, the Pack and Ericson. When I lost my parents, it became just Ericson and the pack; my kingdom. I thought everything could always be fixed, but as time passed, I watched everything go haywire. I doubted myself and the love I thought I had for Eric, and… everything. Hm, but as the saying goes; a second chance given is to prove one has purpose. The moon queen gave me that second chance and after a long while of questioning my abilities and trying to figure out how I could fix everything. I got to realize that I was not given this chance to fix anything, I was not given this chance to haunt for revenge, I was given this chance to live right, live happy and make right decisions.” Avyanna looked at Baron’s face, the past few days had proven a lot to her, their relationship made more sense to her now than before. “I was given this chance to end Theseus Bronze.”
“Brute. Theseus Brute.” Nancy corrected. “Okay I will go next. My life was not the best either because I grew up with only one agenda. I thought I had a notable cause to revenge my people and I don’t regret it. I just needed a pack that would protect me, and one uneventful day, I saw Theseus.”
“Let me guess; he promised you that you would avenge everyone that killed your people.”
“And more. He promised me a realm. There was a catch though. I had to work for him and that is how I came in contact with Ericson. I was sent to infiltrate your pack by any means necessary and make your life a living hell.”
“Why would Theseus want that?” Avy interrupted.
“He never told me. But it is obvious now that he needs your life force.” Nancy continued.
“No one is taking your life force.” Baron growled.
“Ericson looked so possessive and I looked at his weakness, realizing that all he needed was submission and I became that lost girl in the woods that would do anything for him just for shelter. I did my research, I realized that my sexiness was not going to gain me access into the pack alone, so I lured him, I lured him really hard. I used my siren and vampire mesmerizing abilities on him. The fellow was a strong one, it was not easy to intoxicate him just like that, but when I noticed my effect on him had started to work, I made him do everything, it pleased me to see him do every little thing I requested and restricted, I even choose the day he brought me before the pack. My struggle did not matter in the end.” Nancy expected the two wolves to judge her, maybe by their expression or gesture, but they remained mute, until Baron broke the silence.
“Why I killed Ericson I cannot explain in certainty, but one thing I know for sure is my hatred for him had no boundaries. I hated him because of how he treated Avyanna. I hated the idea that she suffered a lot from him, I hated the fact that he gave no regards to how she felt, I made his death a quick one even though he tried to fight back. Then he said to me … ‘You have no idea what is coming’ … wait a minute, Did he know Theseus?”
“Ding. Ding. Ding. It finally clicked. Yes, he did.” Nancy replied.
“It wasn't Ericson's fault from the start but I tried talking to him because I witnessed all of this in my past life but he would never listen to me. But I believe everything happens for a reason." Avyanna’s heart was too numb to feel any more heartbreaks.
“Why do you think he killed your parents? Why do you think Thomas had to know? Why do you think Thomas told you about the secret? Do you not see how everything has come full circle? Do you not see how Theseus has been manipulating us all to kill each other? Ericson would have been alive …”
“Enough.” Avyanna sniffled, “Now we will end this Theseus. I don't want to hear his name again by the time we are done with him."
Baron looked at Avyanna; deep into her eyes. Then he held her hands and kissed him on his knuckles.
“I know we all feel so dirty, but don’t forget that it’s all in the past, we were all played one way or the other, and Theseus has in big part to play in all that happened. We will think on this past no more, but figure on how to eradicate him from the surface of our universe.” Avyanna encouraged with the heaviest heart. She knew they all suffered grief, but it was all in the past, besides if things did not happen, she and Baron might have not happened. The Moon Goddess was aware of what she was doing.
Nancy told Avyanna that she wouldn’t want Theseus to win yet again, and she had thought about someone who would be of great help to them. Nancy was not going to let Theseus win again, not after all he had done. She needed to meet with an ally who would understood how important the mission was. She needed to partner with some other creatures who cared about her. Someone who knew Theseus too.
The trio walked back to the castle, reminiscing on how the last battle was with Theseus. Avyanna was not going to tell them not to dwell on how they would kill the beast, she just realized that until he was gone, they would still talk about him.
Nancy told Avyanna and Baron that she would return after she had spoken to one person she felt would help.
“Who is this friend of yours, Nancy?” Avyanna curiously questioned.
“She’s not my friend, she is part of Theseus nine puppets, and her name is Daniella.”
“Are you sure she is someone you can trust, or rather we could work with?” Avyanna asked again.
“I want that monster more dead than alive, so if whoever I go to see Is not able to deliver, they would never spend one second in my brain.” Nancy meant what she said. Her plans were not in the right position all along, it was meant to kill Theseus, and not kill the hunters.
Baron asked that they let her go so she could return early, he knew Avyanna did not trust Nancy totally, even if she had decided to forgo all that had happen. Baron was not going to blame her for being cautious.
Nancy departed from Wales, Baron and Avyanna found their ways into the castle.
A war was brewing in the shadows and even the sky was aware.
