CHAPTER 9
CHAPTER NINE
Baron, the Lycan king, was deeply disturbed, for he had not been able to have a good night's rest while fostering the thoughts of the strong pull he felt at Lauren Hills.
He had gone there with his Beta, Steve, for hunting as a part of his training. On the expedition, he sensed a dominating scent that compelled him to check what owned the scent. He made out the silhouette of a lady fleeing so fast, he could barely see what she looked like.
Whoever she was, Baron was sure that she wasn't a Lycan and he had to find her as soon as possible but he didn't know how or where to start searching for her. He then chose to overwork himself so that his sister and the Lycans, that he regarded friends and family, won't suspect that anything is disturbing him.
Baron was a good and caring Lycan but, above all, he was a powerful king that was feared by all. Nobody had access to him easily, that is why he counted the Luna lucky to be able to speak to him on her first trial.
"Hey pal, you haven't touched your food, it's the same way I left it for you." Steve said as he entered Baron's room.
The Baron's room was unlike what a king desired but the room still maintained a touch of royalty. At the large entrance of the room, white translucent blinds shielded and segregated the main chambers from the outer room. In the Lycan king's main chambers, there was so much space to host a gathering of a hundred people. At the center of the room, a bed crafted with iron, wood, and wolf's skin hung from the ceiling. At the four corners of the room were potted plants, a sofa, a statue, and a grandfather clock. The floor was made of oak wood and the ceiling above was decorated with paintings of wolves ripping wolves apart.
The silence of the room echoed as Steve' footsteps moved towards Baron, swinging on his bed.
Baron and Steve have been buddies right from childhood. They grew up studying each other and getting to know what they liked and hated. Baron trusted him so much and he made him his Beta to look over the affairs of his kingdom as his right-hand man.
"I don't think I'm hungry." Baron said.
"You haven't eaten anything today and it's unlike you. Is there something wrong?" Steve asked.
"It's nothing honestly; I've just been busy with work." Baron lied. He didn't want to tell Steve about the incident at Laurel Hills yet; he wanted to be sure it wasn't what he was thinking. He was a King and he wasn't supposed to say words that spoke of half-truths.
"You know you can talk to me."
"I know. Do I have any more appointments?" Baron steered the topic of conversation away from himself.
"No I don't think so. You only have some work that needs to be done but I think I will handle that while you rest for now." Just as Steve was about to leave, he said, "Lest I forget, Gina told me about the call you had with the Luna of Wales. What was that about?"
"Oh yes. I forgot to tell you about that, she is quite a type."
"What type?"
"She called the Lycan King uncivilized." Baron smirked.
"What? Do you want me to take her down for you? How dare she?" Steve growled in anger, no one had ever disrespected the Lycan King without being punished or killed.
"I don't want you to do anything, she is mine to handle. I think I may have judged her too quickly."
"Where is the King and what have you done with him!?" Steve bared his fangs, ready to attack.
Baron laughed at Steve's inquiry and said, "I am the King and no one has taken over my body."
"Are you sure everything is alright?"
"Everything is alright I just need to rest."
Steve knew that something was going on with the King but he couldn't imagine what it was. It was unlike the king to retire very early to bed.
Gina bashed into Baron's room just as he was about to begin his nap. "What did you say to my friend? She hasn't picked my calls after you spoke to her." Gina growled. She respected the Luna so much because of the relationship they built from her childhood.
"Which of your friend are you referring to?" Steve asked as the Lycan King acted nonchalant to the question despite his sister's rage.
"Let Baron speak for himself." Gina said.
"Hey pal do you have any of idea of what your sister is talking about?" Steve asked Baron.
"It's just some Luna who wanted my attention by asking me to help her separate her pack from her husband's pack." Baron spoke at last.
"She is my friend! and not just any Luna. She meant every damn thing she said. I know Avyanna, she would never call me to joke about a thing like that and why would she be looking for your attention when she is married already?"
"Wait! You mean Luna Avyanna of Wales?" The name 'Avyanna' seemed to incite a memory of Steve.
"Yes. You know her?" Gina asked Steve rolling her eyes backwards because she knew that Steve went to bed with girls who wanted to use him as a means of getting close to Baron.
"Yes I know her and don't give me that look."
"How do you know her?" Baron and Gina asked, almost simultaneously. They sent a suspicious star at each other before Steve replied.
"She is a great warrior; she had served some of our baby Lycans some time ago when the Rogues had attacked."
"When was that?" Baron sat up from his bed, intrigued by his Beta's story.
"At that time you weren't King yet and we had not yet occupied Asturias as it is now. Most of our kids went out to play and saw traps that were kept by the rogues in the neighborhood territories and you know how inquisitive kids can be, they decided to check out what that was, they were caught by the traps and it was by nightfall that their parents had noticed that they weren't back and they decided to go and search for them and when they got there they saw the brave Luna ripping the rogues apart like it meant nothing, the Lycan parents did lesser fighting as the Luna had freed the children from the trap. When the parents found out what they did, they were grateful and made a promise that the Lycans would never forget her for what she did. They also apologized for stepping into the territory but Avy took no offense in it."
"Wow, I am not surprised; Avyanna has a warrior's spirit in her because that's the same way she saved me from the bullies in Wales." Gina confirmed.
"An interesting story indeed." Baron said.
"I should call her right now to apologize for your insolent behavior." Gina pursed her lips at Baron before storming out of the room.
Baron got the wrong impression about the Luna and he had to make amends as well, but he just knew how better to do that; he knew that there was one thing women liked to be given.
"Steve?"
"Yes pal."
"I need you to deliver a package for me at Luna Avyanna's door step."

Avyanna had been crying throughout the night. She couldn't sleep and she had no one's shoulder to cry on. It was supposed to be her and her husband against the world but Ericson chose to stand with his mate against her. Avyanna wondered why he married her in the first place if he wasn't ready for a long term commitment.
Her phone's battery had died the previous day so she was unable to access it. During the sleepless night, her phone charged too. Putting on her phone later that day, she was shocked to see the calls from Gina that she missed.
Just as she was about to call Gina, her cell phone rang. She picked it, glancing at the caller ID to see Gina. Avyanna was surprised, glad, and curious. She wasn't expecting the call from Gina immediately, she didn't know what Gina wanted, and she really needed someone to talk to at the moment.
"Hi Avyanna."
"Hey Gina." Avyanna responded as she let out an inaudible sniffle, her eyes were puffy and wet.
"Are you okay?" Are you crying?"
"I'm fine, just not feeling too well."
"Oh, I am so sorry about that. I hope I didn't wake you up from sleep."
"Nah, I wasn't sleeping."
"Avy, I want to apologize for what my brother said the other time to you. He is used to different women falling at his feet and he thought you were just the same."
"Your brother is such an ass!" Avyanna exclaimed as she recalled her conversation with the Lycan King.
"I know that's why I'm apologizing on his behalf." Gina bursted out laughing over the phone.
"I have forgiven him anyways, it's not like I have a choice." Avy said.
"So did you come up with another plan on how you want to separate your pack from that of Eric's?"
"Not yet, I am still waiting for a miracle to happen."
"Come to think of it Avy, you haven't told me why you need this so badly, who knows I could get you someone who can help."
"It's a long story Gina and I don't think you would believe me even if I told you."
"Try me then."
"Okay then, Two days ago, I died."
"Wait. What! Elaborate please."
Avyanna didn't hesitate to speak, she told Gina everything from her past life and how Nancy took everything from her. She explained how the Moon Goddess gave her a second life too. Avy told Gina everything she needed to know, leaving out the part of her wolf missing because she did not want to look weak.
"Wow, that is a lot." Gina exclaimed.
"So that's my story Gina. Do you believe me?" I asked.
Gina hesitated before she answered, and Avy could sense disbelief.
"I guess, I do. You're not one to lie." Gina replied after giving the story much thought, "I hate the fact that the so called Omega that has put you in this position."
"Gina wait! I think I have an idea."
"What do you mean?"
"There is a way I can get people to back up my plan."
"How do you intend to do that?"
"We have the Night of the Full moon Feast coming up soon."
