CHAPTER 51

CHAPTER FIFTY ONE
The kingdom was not what it used to be after the separation of the pack. The segregated fractions roamed about aimlessly, looking for ways to find the side that they preferred to be at.
Through the years, the people from Wales and the people from Thunder Banes pack had bonded and became one. Some people from the Thunder Banes pack had started families with those from Wales, they even had children. Some had started businesses, and other forms of partnership together so the separation caused quite a confusion.
It was all about finding where they stood. There was a great confusion and a deadly rowdiness that made the pack house look like a refugee camp.
The people who steered to Ericson’s side were packing their properties and saying their final goodbyes, while the people that steered to Avyanna’s side remained in the pack because originally it was their home.
When Ericson joined his pack with Avyanna’s, he moved into the pack house that was Avyanna’s kingdom.
As the movement went on, the people who forgot that it was Avyanna who ruled originally remembered and that alone made some of them choose to remain in the kingdom.
Through the confusion, there was Nancy, waiting patiently for Avyanna to emerge and take her pack members. Through the ruckus, were also the loyal omegas and wolves that Nancy had rallied to her favor, searching for allies of Avyanna to persuade to join them.
Nancy had ordered them to do so. She had said; “Avyanna is the enemy. Today we will put an end to her bad leadership. She may own this pack house but she does not own you! Rally whoever you can, we need all the claws we can get.” Nancy spoke like they were preparing for battle and the brainwashed loyals yelled in favor of her sentence. Those weak ones who could be manipulated easily, fell for her trap.
So while they scouted the confusion hoping to rally more people, Nancy sat patiently, preparing a lethal poison.
“Rita?” Nancy summoned.
“Yes. Nancy.” Rita replied, “Is the pack going to heal from this uprising?” Rita then asked in concern.
“Yes. It will.” Nancy smiled devilishly.
“But how?” Rita asked.
In the past life, it was easy for Nancy to spot Avyanna and get rid of Ericson easily, so killing Avy was not so hard, besides the Luna did not even see it coming. But the times had changed in Avyanna’s favor, Nancy did not even know what she was up against.
Someone was going to die in that pack house, and it wasn’t going to be Avyanna.
“First of all, we have to cleanse the land of the threat, then the healing will happen.” Nancy chuckled crazily.
Just then, Will walked into her room immediately and took a sharp bow, then he looked up and said with a very sad tone, “I hate to break this news to you.”
“Oh my God, what is it? Did someone die?” Nancy feigned her concern.
“Yes. Someone just died.” Will rose his head.
“Oh my goddess! Who is it?” Rita was so shocked at the news already.
“Who?” Nancy asked, almost revealing happiness.
Will couldn’t bring himself to say who it was at first. The poor lad was so heartbroken, he had to take a moment to digest the news himself.
“Speak up.” Nancy said in faked concern, for the beta to be that way, it could only mean that the person that died was …
“Alpha Ericson!” A teardrop nearly escaped his eyes as he broke the news.
The news hit Rita so hard that she couldn’t move or say a word for a moment. When she regained her composure she was weeping, “But How? When?” Rita’s nose was almost running.
Nancy was the complete opposite. She didn’t even bat an eye or concern or worry, she just said stiffly, “Oh damn, that is really painful, whatever will we do now.” to complement the actual show of emotions in the room.
“The whole pack doesn't know yet, but I am sure the news is spreading already.” Will continued.
Rita sniffled as she walked out of the room for no reason to Nancy at all, she just needed to breathe.”
“Thanks for letting me know Will, my heart is so broken.” Things were looking up for Nancy; with the death of the Alpha, she had the deed to half of Wales and the pack house. She also had the rights to the kingdom and she thought of that more than her just presumed dead mate.
“How did he die?” She asked.
“Stab wound to the chest.” Will said.
“Do his siblings know about this?” Nancy asked.
“Yes, they are mourning him in his room, will you come?” Will asked.
“No.Trust me, I am the last person that they want to see there.” Nancy said, “I think I will just sit this one out.”
***
Back in Ericson’s room, his dead body lay. The body was surrounded by Vanessa, Vincent, Jonathan, and Nathan, who were all mourning and feeling the sting of vengeance.
“Who could have done this?” Vincent wept as he ran his fingers through the cold body of his elder brother.
“Ericson did not deserve this! He was already going through a lot.” Vanessa cried with a shattered heart, even her breath was strained.
Ericson’s lifeless body had a large hole in his chest. It was obvious that his heart had been pierced with a silver knife.
“A coward did this! They couldn’t even have the decency to face him on a one-on-one battle.” Nathan’s face was squeezed in anger and his heart was sawed in half at the death of Ericson.
“This has his ex-wife written all over it.” Vanessa said as the tears kept pouring out of her eyes.
“It couldn’t be Avyanna.” Jonathan finally spoke up. He had to defend her honor because he knew what she was capable of and it was not murder, especially not the murder of Ericson.
“Why do you say so?” Nathan asked.
“Because I saw her walk out of here …” He wanted to speak but he was cut off by Vanessa.
“Did you see my brother breathing when she was leaving?” Vanessa spited.
“No, I … I was… I just saw her.”
“She is the last person that was with him last night. It is only reasonable to think that. It is so obvious.” Vanessa began.
“I am with Zeta on this one. I don’t think it was Avyanna. If she was going to kill him, then why would she divorce him in front of everyone?” Vincent began, “If you ask me, I say whoever did this is trying to frame Luna. This has that omega written all over it!!” Vincent was going mad with rage thinking about Nancy.
“It couldn’t be the Omega. She was barely with him yesternight.” Vanessa said in her defense.
“Who else could it be!?” Vincent was angrier.
“All this bickering will solve nothing. I say we perform a funeral immediately and begin the next line of action, which is securing the throne and his properties. Matter of fact, Who will be our new leader?” Nathan, ever the voice of reason, spoke with controlled emotions and precision.
“Let’s go ahead with the funeral.” Vincent agreed.
They carried Ericson’s wounded body out of the pack house and made a spectacle of his burial. The whole pack house was thrown into further confusion as the news spread like the wildfire that cremated Ericson.
The four of them, as well as the members of the pack house stood and watched as the body went up in flames. Vanessa and Vincent were filled with emotions, while Jonathan and Nathan showed no emotions, even though their hearts were wrecked.
***
After realizing that the main people who were supposed to be handling the affairs of the kingdom were busy mourning, Nancy decided to summon the entire pack, making the noise and rucks to settle for a bit. The rowdiness had even increased when the news of Ericson’s death was leaked.
“Hello Everyone!” Nancy tried to have a deeper tone of voice, to assert authority over the people who thought she was just a weak omega.
“What do we do now that the Alpha is dead?” A member of the crowd asked immediately and the crowd erupted in murmurs of concurrence.
“Sadly, the Alpha is gone.” She bowed her head to show fake respect for the dead. “We all need to stay calm. We all know that this time yesterday, a certain someone was in his room, and this morning he is dead.” Nancy spoke.
“She has a point. Anyanna was here last night, and this morning, the alpha is gone. I smell something fishy.” Cindy one of the female warriors spoke, then the crowd concurred again.
The crowd erupted with the people blaming the demise of the Alpha on Avyanna, and Nancy just smiled.
“Which is why I am going to lead the pack that belonged to him.” Nancy said with a very authoritative voice.
The crowd first went silent, then followed the whispers, before the confusion ensued. There were mixed feelings about her speech but the people whose minds she had poisoned stood in favor of her and when some others saw the ones that stood in solidarity, they followed suit.
Nancy could brag about being the new leader of the pack house, at least the fraction that did not steer towards Avyanna’s side.
When she was done addressing the people, she returned to her room with a smile, took out her phone and dialed: The Berserker.
“Well, well, well, If it isn’t the one and only Nancy.” Alpha Thomas’ voice sounded over the phone.
