CHAPTER 50
CHAPTER FIFTY
Avyanna carefully slotted the divorce papers into the brown envelope to prevent them from creasing.
After Gina had left the room, Avyanna had thought her next line of actions through and decided that she didn't need to follow all the due process to get a divorce and separate her pack from Ericson's. He had done enough to her and she had to embarrass him openly and ruin his pride as well.
Without hesitation, she then stormed out of her room before she would change her mind. The Lycan Alpha had authorized the guards to give Avyanna anything she wanted, as long as she was comfortable. On her way out, she met Steve who was reading a book outside the field.
"Hey Steve." Avyanna greeted.
"Greetings my Luna. How is everything going especially with the news and all?" Steve stood up to offer Avyanna a seat but she waved it off because she was in a hurry.
"I guess I'm coping." She replied hurriedly, like she didn't pay attention to the question.
"Is everything alright? It seems like you're heading somewhere.." Steve asked when he noticed the package in her hands.
"Oh yes I am. There is something I want to do in my territory, I'll be back in no time." Avyanna gripped the brown envelope tighter, causing Steve to look away from it, because he was so fixated on it like he was trying to make out the contents inside it.
"Do you need me to escort you? It could be dangerous out there." He offered willingly, moving towards Avyanna.
"There will be no need for that Steve, I just need a car that will take me to Wales so I won't have to trek all the way there." She put forth her hand, stopping him in his tracks. Then she asked politely.
"Consider it done then. You can take my car, just bring it back in good shape." Steve smiled as he handed over his car keys to Avyanna.
"Thank you. I don't want Baron to know about my whereabouts. I'll be back in few hours." She looked at him for a moment to be sure that he would keep her secret safe. She knew that a Beta's relationship with his alpha is not so easily broken, but she hoped that Steve would be cooperative.
"Alright sure. I'll keep your secret." He beamed, then she nodded in approval and headed towards his car.

Avyanna drove into Wales with mixed feelings. Her people were really happy to see her; it was so obvious that they had missed her presence in the pack house. She could tell from the wide smiles on their faces.
"The Luna is back!" Mike screamed as he ran to give Avyanna a hug. Avyanna hugged him back. She needed that hug in that moment to muster enough strength and confidence for what she was planning to do. She found a soothing comfort in the hug, for the first time in a very long day of heart-breaking news.
"Shh... there is no need to scream about it. I haven't fully returned, I just came here to finish up something." Avyanna softly patted his back intermittently, and the hug fizzled out.
"So when are you going to return?" Mike asked.
"I'm not really sure about that yet." Avyanna knew that it won't be that easy, she wanted a break after everything that was going on around her. She wasn't even sure what her second chance was meant to do for her after finding out that the enemy she was running away from had been with her right from her childhood days. She had been expecting Ericson to come and deny Thomas' claims but it didn't turn out the way she expected. It wasn't an easy thing to let go of. In her case, the truth indeed had a tongue-shrinking taste.
"Please come back soon, we miss you. I don't know why I made friends with the Omega at first, but she doesn't really seem like a nice person. There has been so much complaints about her the few times Alpha Ericson hasn't been around." Mike blurted out.
"Mike I want you to do something for me." Avyanna placed her hand on his shoulder.
"What is that?" He leaned his ears closer to her lips, like she was about to whisper a secret to him.
"I want you to gather everyone in front of the pack house and tell them that I want to address everyone." Avyanna said.
"Okay I will do that." Mike nodded attentively and moved to carry out what Avyanna asked him to do.
"Is my husband around?" Avyanna spat out as it would be the last time she would address him as such.
"Yes he is. My brother said he wasn't feeling too well and he decided to rest but he hasn't spoken to anyone." Mike stopped walking and answered briefly.
"Fine, I will take it from here. As for the Omega, I want you to be very careful around her, and learn how to mind your business, also try and avoid her as much as you can till I am fully back." Avy warned.
"Yes my Luna, I will." Mike took a subtle bow and smiled.
"That's good. You are a very brave boy and I assure you that you will be a better warrior than even your elder brother, Will." Avyanna gave him a tender pat on his shoulder." Now go and ring the bell and call everyone out, I want to address them when I'm done talking to Alpha Ericson.
With that, Mike scurried away as Avyanna entered the pack house.
She inhaled and exhaled before opening the door to Ericson's room.
She could feel a sting of nostalgia as she stepped foot into the room. The furniture was the same and everything was exactly the way she remembered it. She scanned the room with her eyes before her gaze met Ericson lying on the bed with his face up. He seemed agitated and confused but that didn't concern her. All she could feel for him was a very deep and intense hatred for him, even when he hopped out of the bed and moved towards her.
"You're here... I didn't expect to see..." He almost bit his tongue, trying to find the right words to say to Avyanna.
"No need for the pleasantries, I should get straight to point concerning the reason I am here." Avyanna waved her hands to stop Eric from getting any closer to her.
"I thought you at least forgave me before coming back." Ericson bowed his head in shame. This was his nemesis and he couldn't escape it.
"Do you think it's that easy?" Avyanna scoffed, her anger grew but she controlled it.
"I know it isn't that's why I'm not forcing you. I actually deserve it, I should have stopped working for them when I fell in love with you." Ericson couldn't even look her in the eye when he spoke. He merely cast his gaze away and spoke with a tone that was aimed at evoking pity, but it was fruitless. The more he used the voice, the angrier Avy got. But she couldn't be that angry because she was about to end it all.
"Yes but it doesn't matter anymore. Well there is no time for regret Ericson. I think it's high time we go our separate ways, afterall, from the look of things, we weren't meant for each other right from the onset." She whipped out the brown envelope and slipped out the divorce papers within it.
"What do you mean by going our separate ways?" He asked as his concentration was focused on the papers.
"Our divorce papers are ready and you will be signing them right now." She slammed it on his nightstand and took out her pen.
"What! Avyanna please you can't do this to me. I know you're mad at me but please just give it sometime and think through it all." He pleaded, trying his best not to look at the paperwork.
"I have thought about it already before coming here and my mind is made up, as such, there is no going back." She tapped the document with the pen in her hand.
"You must be kidding! What about the pack? How will the people feel with your decision? As a Luna, the interest of your people should be placed first before yours." Ericson was playing the blame game, but Avy wasn't having it.
"Oh please! Says a man who murdered his wife's parents." She blurted.
"That was a long time ago Avyanna and I honestly regret my actions." Ericson mellowed his tone, talking like he was pleading.
"You're in no place to tell me what is right and what is wrong, I have signed the divorce papers and it's left for you to do so."
She held the pen at him and maintained a very stern look at him. Hesitantly, he took the pen from her slowly and steadily.
The room was silent for a moment as he hovered his hands above the dotted line he was supposed to sign on. He scoffed and looked at Avyanna but she kept he serious face, crossing her arms and waiting for him to sign.
Finally, he took a deep breath and scribbled his signature on the paper hurriedly before he slammed the pen in frustration.
"Thank you for your cooperation, now please I would like you to follow me outside, I need to address the entire pack." Avyanna took the document and folded it back into the envelope.
"Avyanna what makes you so sure you're doing the right thing?" He asked with the same pitiful tone.
"It may be right, It may be wrong. The only thing that matters is that I won't have to live with my enemy again." Avyanna spat out.
"I am not your enemy, I just made a mistake once." He begged.
"A terrible mistake. It's too late to change my mind." With that she walked out of the room with Ericson tagging along behind her.
***
The pack house was thrown into a very subtle confusion. They murmured to each other, trying to find out why they had been summoned.
"Greetings, great people of Wales." Avyanna's voice echoed through the pack house, causing the murmurs to cease instantly and silence ensued.
"Greetings our Luna." The royalties were shocked to see the Luna because none of them knew she had come back. Their eyes widened as they looked at her and they almost stammered as they addressed her.
"I summoned you all to explain the little changes that has been made in Wales and I want to apologize for any inconvenience it would cause you." Avyanna looked at Ericson before she continued with her speech. "As of today, Alpha Ericson and I are no longer husband and wife, the divorce papers are evidence to support my claim." She lifted the divorce papers in her hands for the people to see.
Loud gasps escaped from the crowd. People were terrified about the news and they didn't know how to act upon hearing such a thing. Some of the people started blaming Avyanna for the cause of this rift while others blamed the Omega.
They pointed accusing fingers at the Luna, believing that she was the one that caused the divorce. They said words like; "I'm sure she is to blame for this, Alpha Ericson could never."
"There is no need to blame anyone here. It was something that had to be done for certain reasons. Please allow the Luna to explain herself." Ericson said.
"Due to the divorce, we will be separating the packs. Which means those that will be by myself will stay here in Wales, while those in Alpha Ericson's side will return to Thunder Banes."
"What the hell? You didn't tell me that before now." Ericson growled in a confused look.
"There is no need to discuss my plans with you since we are no longer together. I believe the Omega can now take my place in the Thunder banes."
"It won't be that easy for us to decide my Luna. Most of us have families together." Alfred one of the warriors said.
"Don't worry, due to the impromptu divorce, I will give everyone some days to decide where they truly want to belong. Which ever side you choose, doesn't make you an enemy, you will always be welcome to the Pack house anytime, any day." Avyanna announced.
"How many days are you giving us to decide?" Vanessa asked.
"Until I'm fully back from the Lycan territory." Avyanna answered.
"And when is that?" Curious Vanessa couldn't let go.
"Let's just hope we are all still alive by the time I get back." Avyanna walked away fuming, yet happy that she had gotten that over with.
