CHAPTER 13

CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Avyanna's father was well-known in neighboring territories, as well as territories miles away. He upheld a good name while he lived, so after his untimely demise, it was imperative that Avyanna followed in his footsteps.
It was no secret that the Alpha's and Royalties, from various packs, present at the feast, already knew Avyanna's backstory and willpower; they couldn't help but stare when they saw her in all her glory.
Ericson inevitably grew jealous when he noticed the how the Royalties and Male wolves lusted over Avyanna in her revealing outfit. His jealously grew to the extent that an inaudible growl erupted from his lips, and his fangs sharpened slowly.
A perk of being a Werewolf was having a super-human sense of hearing. This superpower, which Ericson possessed, made him, as well as every wolf present at the Feast, hear every compliment that was whispered to Avyanna. The whispers and silent mumurs spoke of Ericson and how foolish he was for giving up such a lovely wife for a haggard omega mate. Avyanna smirked as she received the compliments, knowing that her plan was slowly working out in her favor.
Ericson moved swiftly and grabbed Avyanna's hands possessively, pissing Avyanna off in the process. Avyanna looked at Ericson and what he gripped with his left hand; Nancy's arm, and she got enraged.
"Fucking let go of my arm!" Avyanna spat out, shrugging away from Ericson's grip.
"Jonathan, I think you should assist the warriors here in making sure that the environment is safe. You're more agile than most of the men here incase of any danger." Eric said to Jonathan who nodded and left immediately. He knew that Ericson didn't want him beside his wife.
"What's the meaning of that?" Avyanna finally removed her hands from Ericson's grip. She was happy that Jonathan would not be by her side all night which meant that she could move around freely without being asked questions.
"I want you to stay by my side as my wife. I don't like the idea of you walking with Jonathan." Eric said.
Avyanna was annoyed with her husband's distasteful attitude; he wanted to have everything to himself.
"Are you kidding me? You couldn't take me as your date to the Feast, and now the one date that you had picked for me, you are preventing me from associating with him!"
"It's because I care about you Avyanna. I still have strong feelings for you despite everything that has happened between us lately. None of that has changed the way I feel about you." On a normal day, Avyanna would believe that but the night wasn't meant for dealing with her emotions, she had better things to do.
"My Luna, I am so sorry, this is all my fault." Nancy pleaded as tears formed in her eyes. Avyanna wondered how Nancy easily feigned tears and humility at convenience.
Avyanna removed a handkerchief from her purse, rushing to Nancy side and placing it in her hands, "You have not done anything wrong and besides you wouldn't want to ruin your makeup in such an event." Avyanna smiled and Nancy gasped silently trying to hide her shock.
"Thank you my Luna." Nancy said in between sobs.
"I should leave both of you to enjoy yourselves tonight Eric. Tonight is for peace and I do not want us to quarrel. I will see you around." Without waiting for Eric's response, Avyanna walked into the crowd, greeting everyone one by one, the ones she knew and the ones she didn't know.
Avyanna's super-hearing perk allowed her to listen in on the gossips of the female werewolves, present at the gathering. They spoke enviously about her, "Who does she think she is!"
"That is a nice dress, I must confess. Too bad her husband doesn't see that." A voice said in a hushed tone as Avyanna walked by.
Another said, "Poor thing, she's a second choice now. I wonder what that Alpha sees in that Omega."
Avyanna ignored the voices and walked on proudly.
"I am sorry Ericson, I don't want to cause any issue between you and your wife." Nancy begged Ericson.
"Nancy, none of this is your fault. I feel the Moon Goddess brought you into my life for a reason and I won't misuse the opportunity. We should grab a drink before the fund raising aspect begins. What do you say?" Ericson said.
"Sure." Nancy smiled as she wiped the tears that had stained her cheeks with the handkerchief Avyanna had given her.
The wolves, both male and female, were eager to associate with Avyanna. She was indeed a role model to the young wolves and she wanted to keep it this way. The handsome Alpha's and Royalties were still eyeing her dress, giving her signals that showed they were interested in her. Avyanna basked in the attention that she was getting from the men present, even though she felt like she was doing the wrong thing because she had a husband_ a husband who didn't value her.
"Alpha Luke!" Avyanna screamed in joy as she saw her uncle standing with some of the Royalties of his pack. The hall was filled to the brim with people and Avyanna could barely notice anyone except her Uncle, who she had a close contact with.
"My beautiful Luna." Luke teased as Avyanna embraced him.
Luke was Avyanna's uncle and Alpha to the Dark Moon Wolf pack. Charleston was their territory and Luke was in charge of hosting this event every year in memory of Avyanna's father, who was his late brother.
Luke was a buff sixty-seven year old man. His white beard and green eyes stood out among his other amazing features; such as his ripped muscles, his unwavering smile, his clenched butt, and his clawed fingers. He wore a shiny blue suit and held a walking stick that had a wolf's head.
"I have been looking for you all over this place. I thought I won't find you here tonight." Avyanna cried out.
When Avyanna's father had passed away, Luke offered to take in Avyanna as his daughter, making her a member of his pack and joining his pack with the one Avyanna's father had left behind for her to lead, but Avyanna wanted to be independent so she had blatantly refused her uncle's proposal.
"Sorry my dear, I have been busy running around to make sure everything is in place." Luke said.
"I understand Uncle. It's been a long while."
"Yes Avyanna and you've become more beautiful than before. Just look at how much you've grown, if I wasn't related to you, I wouldn't mind courting you." Luke whispered into Avyanna's ears.
"You must be kidding." Avyanna bursted out laughing.
"You seem to never need my help anymore, Avyanna. Is there anything wrong with you or the pack?"
"Nothing is wrong with me and yes I really have something important to say to you and I need your help."
"Does it have to do with your husband? I saw him walking hand-in-hand with another lady few minutes ago. If he is cheating and you, I can help you break his feeble bones." Luke's fangs sharpened slowly as he spoke.
"Luke, that's not the case." Avyanna loved how her Uncle was protective of her, and wished she had listened to him in the past when he had offered to take care of her pack. She had been blinded by the fact that she was deeply in love with Ericson and she felt that nothing could come in between them.
"What is it then? You know you can confide in me."
"The lady you saw my husband with, isn't just any lady, she is my husband's mate."
"What! Why hasn't he rejected her yet as tradition demands since he is already married to you?" Luke's concern could be seen all over his face.
"Honestly I don't know. Maybe he likes her and he intends to keep her, using the excuse that his wolf will not survive without her."
"Gosh! he is so silly to say that."
"There is nothing I can do to change his mind about keeping her in the pack house at this point, that's why I need your help."
"How can I help you in this situation?"
"I want to separate my pack from his." Avyanna whispered.
"Avyanna you know that's not possible especially after you are bound together by marriage. It's against the rules."
"Then I am ready to divorce him even if it's the sacrifice I have to make for my pack members. Please I really need your help; you're my last hope and I want this to be just between us until everything has been figured out. I need you to select the strongest Alphas from the strongest packs to stand by me throughout this process. My husband is quite strong and possessive, he will do anything to make sure he gets what he wants that's why I want to carry out my plans in secret until I am ready because there are a few laws I want to put in place as well as, to favour my people."
"Avyanna, this is so much to take in right now, could we have this discussion later? It's almost time for the fund raising to begin." Luke said as he pecked Avyanna on the cheek before walking away.
As the Feast commenced, there was an auction event in which relics from the ancient days would be auctioned off to the highest bidder. The werewolves stood, some sat, in the crowd while an autioneer sat at the center stage and announced the relics that were to be sold. The wolves that were focused in the auctioning held up placards with the prize that they bidded.
"The skull of Sulivan the first Alpha of the Sullivan pack, going for five million."
Avyanna raised a placard she held, bidding the skull for seven million.
"We have a bidder. Skull going for seven million, going once... Going twice... So..." Just before the auctioneer finalized the sale, Ericson held up a placard. "We have twelve million."
Ericson smirked as he glanced at Avyanna.
"Sold for twelve million." The auctioneer said.
Avyan scoffed and walked away from the auctioning, because she knew that Ericson would use every amount of money he had to make sure that she lost every bout. She smiled and walked away, a part of her plan was working out and she didn't even plan for it.
As Avyanna was on her way to grab a drink, she noticed another room that fellow wolves avoided. They dared not thread into the room because Lycans lurked in it. The presence in the room was heavy and all wolves that walked by the room, proceeded with caution.
Avyanna was really in need of a drink and she didn't want to attract any attention than the one she had gotten already, so she ignored whatever was happening in the room as she passed to grab her drink.
Suddenly, Avyanna could sense the dominating scent of an apparition. It was similar to the one that she felt when she toured around Lauren Hills. This time around, she felt it very close to her. She turned around to check the crowd if she could see the person.
Her jaws dropped open as she saw him; a man in a white suit. He had blue eyes that gave a piercing gaze. The lower part of his face was adorned with spiky beards that made his pink luscious lips look like a ruby stuck in the midst of silvery shrubs. The man was undoubtedly breathtaking; not only because of the way he looked but also because of the way he commanded Avyanna's attention with his aura.
Avyanna, feeling the presence that emanated from him, was convinced that he was the man whose scent was dominating her; the same man whose scent she must have felt at Lauren hills.
Her childhood crush.
"Alpha Thomas?" She asked in surprise, moving closer to him.
"Luna Avyanna, it's a pleasure to meet you." Thomas lifted up her right hand, giving it a light kiss on top.
"It's been long." Avyanna tried to compose herself in front of Thomas.
Thomas was the Alpha of the Ash band and also Avyanna's one time man of her dreams until she met Ericson. He was the man that contested with Ericson for Avyanna.
Back in the day, Thomas would send Avyanna flowers even when he was well aware that Ericson would get jealous and angry. Because of his acts, Ericson grew to hate Thomas, even though he still won Avyanna.
Something felt strange. Avyanna felt another dominating scent. As heavy as Thomas' scent was, it was not as strong as what Avyanna felt a second time. She was very sure that whoever it was, the person was inside the hall.
Avyanna wished Katie was there with her, she would have made things easier for her.
"Can we talk outside for a bit? This hall is becoming stuffy." Avyanna suggested.
"Alright then. Shall we?" Thomas offered his hand and Avyanna slid hers into his. As they both turned around, Avyanna saw Gina marching towards her and, immediately, knew that something was not right in the Feast.
She could still sense the dominating scent, Gina attending the Feast was also not part of their plan, and the second dominating scent grew stronger.
Closer.
