CHAPTER 19

CHAPTER NINETEEN
Avyanna nursed mixed feelings as she sat at the back seat of the limo, Jonathan at the steering wheel, piloting her way home.
She reflected on the events of the night and heaved a sigh of relief as she recalled how Baron held her waist, then followed it with a sigh of anger when she recalled how it ended.
Jonathan kept looking at the Luna through his rear view mirror. He had witnessed everything that had occured between Alpha Ericson and Luna Avyanna but he was in no place to make a judgement. As the leader of the warriors in the pack, he had been worried these few days that Ericson and Avyanna had not been in good terms. He had swore his loyalty to the both of them, so at times like this, he wasn't sure of what to do.
"Why do you keep staring at me?" Avyanna asked, she wasn't ready for another argument because so many things were on her mind at that moment.
"Apologies my Luna." Jonathan stopped staring at that instant and he became focused on the steering wheel.
Avyanna knew everyone that witnessed the squabble had one or two things to say to her."Come on Jonathan, you can say your mind, things have been happening in the pack house and hearing your opinion would matter."
"I'm sorry for leaving your side at the Feast, I was meant to be your date but I wasn't even around you for a second."
"I hope you don't think I am pissed off with you because of that? I totally understand, besides it wasn't your fault and my hus... Alpha Ericson gave you orders to follow." Avyanna felt weird referring to Ericson as her husband; after what she went through in her past life, the pain still lingered in her heart.
"It's not really about that."
"Then what is it about?"
"You know the Lycans are very unpredictable and anything would have happened to you today."
"Jonathan, I am not a baby. I know what I was doing and I don't think the Lycan Alpha will want to hurt the only lady he danced with at the Feast." Avyanna smirked as she cast her gaze away from the mirror above Jonathan. He occasionally peeked from the road ahead to the mirror above him just to get a glance of Avyanna at the back seat. She sat with her legs crossed and the slit on her gown revealed her unblemished laps.
Jonathan used the opportunity to stare longer at the mirror but he was still careful enough to not cast his gaze away from the road. "But you should understand why Alpha Ericson became annoyed. I know things aren't going that well between the both of you but he still cares about you a lot and sometimes he can be over-protective like the way he was tonight."
"What's your point exactly Jonathan?" She looked back into the car.
"I feel you overreacted too much tonight and it wasn't that necessary."
"Wow...so I am the jerk now and not Eric!" Her countenance changed and her mood changed.
"My Luna I am sorry if I have offended you in any way but that is not what I mean. Alpha Ericson is still your husband even though he took the Omega as his date. I think you should consider his feelings too." Jonathan looked away from the mirror and looked at the road, he couldn't stand Avyanna's fiery gaze.
"Are you being serious right now? When the Omega came into the pack house, no one cared about how I felt but because I just danced with the Lycan Alpha, I am now the bad guy."
"My Luna, please be rest assured that I swore my loyalty and fealty to you till death and, trust me, I intend on keeping that. I just don't like the idea of not being at peace with your husband. If you have noticed, it has affected most of us at the pack house because we don't know whose side to be on especially since we are one now."
Avyanna had not thought about things the way Jonathan had explained to her. She never considered the possibility of the pack splitting up because she tried do hard to keep it together. For a brief moment, she felt a tingle of frustration, coupled with a heavy feeling of failure.
The brief moment lasted longer than she expected; it lasted throughout the ride, causing the conversation between Jonathan and her to cease.
The silent journey lasted until Jonathan swerved into the pack house, parked the car, and got out of the car, and opened the door for his Luna to alight.
"Thank you, Jonathan." She heaved as she walked into the house. Jonathan took her heels from her hands and walked behind her until she reached the door to the main house.
”I will take it from here." She took her heels from Jonathan and walked into her room, almost.
"My Luna." Jonathan called, making her pause just as she was about to shut the door behind her. "The pack looks up to you. Please don't fail us."
Avyanna nodded slowly and closed the door behind her. She didn't utter a word in response to him, she just closed the door, inhaled a deep breath and exhaled, then walked to her room.

To Ericson, the feast was closing in on itself ever since Avyanna left on his orders. He could barely concentrate on the feast any longer. All he felt was fury, pain, embarrassment, and Nancy's touch on his shoulder.
"You seem furious." She said quietly.
"Oh, you think!" Ericson said angrily and miserably.
"I didn't mean to aggravate you. I only wish to calm your soul and spirit as your mate. Your wolf could come out any moment from now and you wouldn't even know it because you are so angry." Nancy ran her devious fingers across his neck to calm him down and let her words penetrate his anger.
"You're doing a ..." He paused as Nancy massaged a point at his neck, "Wow, a good job." He felt relieved for a moment, turning his neck until it's joints cracked and smirking to force the thoughts of His wife dancing with the Lycan King away from his mind.
"Tell me what angers you." Nancy beckoned in her faked calm voice.
"My wife! Why would she embarrass me in such manner. She has no idea what her act tonight has done!" Ericson complained.
"You have nothing to worry about my Alpha. I will be here beside you for anything that may arise."
Poor Ericson gave into her soothing words and smiled. She held his chin up and planted her lips on his. She rolled her tongue on his and suckled his lips briefly before she removed her lips from his. "You have nothing to worry about my Alpha." She stared into his eyes as she spoke.
"Let's take this to the pack house.” Ericson said.

Avyanna tossed and turned on her bed, trying to find sleep. "Please moon goddess, I just need sleep " she groaned sleepily.
She battled with so many thoughts as she prayed for sleep. Just then, her phone rang so she looked at the caller ID and saw: Gina.
"Hey girl," Gina said slowly and wearily.
"Hey," Avyanna dragged with a tired voice.
"I saw what happened between you and your ... Ericson from my little corner. Are you okay?" Gina sounded concerned, and guilty.
"I am fine. How are you. I didn't see much of you tonight."
" Yeah. It seems my brother took every attention you had."
"Atleast it wasn't bad like I thought it would."
"Avy I wanted to apologize for not informing you earlier about the fact that I was coming to the Feast. I had no time to warn you and I didn't want my brother to do anything stupid."
"It's okay. It turns out everything worked out just fine."
"What were you two discussing anyway?"
"Nothing different from what you already know. I seek an alliance with your clan." As Avyanna talked she considered telling Gina about the primal pull she felt towards Baron but she changed her mind.
"It seemed more than that."
"What do you mean? We just danced together, and it's nothing new considering the fact that the Lycan Alpha gets opportunities like this for different ladies without having to ask for it."
"He likes you." Gina concluded.
"Yeah. What was that about?" Avyanna pretended like she didn't know that Baron expressed a liking for her.
"He really does. I saw it in his eyes. You have nothing to worry about concerning the alliance."
"I feel so too."
"But I think you should be careful too. It seems weird. Baron doesn't like people that easily."
"He couldn't resist an attractive lady like me."
"As expected my Luna." Gina said sarcastically. The pair giggled simultaneously for the first time since the call began.
"I'm really sorry about the way Ericson embarrassed you. You didn't deserve that."
"I'm over it Gina. Thank you for the concern."
"I can't wait for what's to come."
"Me too."
