CHAPTER 86

CHAPTER 86
After Baron’s visit, Avyanna had tried so much to forget about everything that happened, but seeing him resurface made it worse. She was not going to make that pull her down, besides she had a new pal whose company she greatly enjoyed.
Theseus had become frequent with distilling his words of wisdom and friendship making Avy completely forget what Baron told her of Theseus. She forgot Baron warned her to be weary of Theseus.
Baron told her that Theseus’ aura was dark and evil, but Avyanna had completely forgotten about everything he said.
Theseus now was her strongest alliance.
They became very close to the point that she completely told Theseus almost everything about her. Theseus made her trust him.
There was one time he came around and they completely laughed all through, till night. She told Theseus that he could sleep in the kingdom if he wanted to.
Theseus appeared to Avyanna as one who could not hurt a fly. His replies to her burning questions always seemed to be pleasant and timely, making her appreciate Theseus.
Another day, they went out together and he told her about his youthful days, and how women would lineup rendering their complete obeisance to him.
“It was fun my dear. I would be sure to get the best amongst them, it was a high level of intimacy, but it was based on how beautiful the person was. My friends would always make jest of how they came in myriads. They would have me speak to one for them who would entertain with dancing.”
“You sly devil.” Avyanna teased with a soft chortle.
“I get that a lot.” Theseus giggled, “Time flew, and I knew I was not getting younger, so I thought to myself, why don’t I start taking my life seriously, why continue to lift up, draining attitudes and behaviors that was not for sure going to land me the exact future I desired. I cut off a lot of friends, made simple decisions that skyrocketed my life, up to this very moment, now at least I can say, I have gotten near to my greatest desire, and in no time, I will get it and put it where it belongs.” Everything Brute had said to the ever-listening ear of Avyanna was a lie, except for the part of actualizing his greatest desire.
Theseus never had friends, everyone he met in his past must either be subservient or killed. He had no time to be partners with anybody, because he would eventually take their eyes out of their skull; either for fun, or for the sake of it.
No one betrayed Theseus and lived, but he betrayed everyone.
Avyanna was marveled by how free and comfortable she and her new friend had become. “Wonderful, you had a very busy and exciting youth” She said as she smiled. Avyanna’s eyes lit up for she wanted to hear more of his wonders.
“Yes, my dear, a very busy one. I started fighting whoever fought justice, I wandered, but remained invincible, so my identity might not be known that it was I, who had executed justice. Those who saw my importance, like you are now, swore their loyalty and membership. It was a beautiful sight to behold.” Theseus smiled, ending it with a grin on his face, but Avyanna did not pay attention to his expression, she was just fluttered by his experience.
“So, amongst those many damsels, you saw no one to be with for eternity, the one who would stay with you forever. “
“Stay with me forever…” Theseus repeated the words.
“Yes, stay with you forever.” Avyanna said as she smiled again, looking at him with expectations of the next word he would imprint on her mind.
“No one stays forever, Avyanna, except in the spirit. I lost the one’s I ever wanted to stay with forever.” Theseus had wandered to the lane of memories, his childhood, and how he handled himself into getting everything he had now. He wished, he could romance his ego, so the little girl would know that being sad is way different from being caged with rage and vengeance, seeking power, so as to overcome your fears, fears that he never, and would never have again.
“But I thought we get to meet that one person, that one person, that would be with us till death knocks in.” Avyanna consciously questioned, her mind flashing to Baron.
“Yes, maybe for some creatures including you.” He laughed, touching her on her cheek bone.
Avyanna marveled at the size of his knowledge. She had not seen any creature that was vast in knowledge like he was. The only person she could compare was her parents, and that was because they were her parents.
The sun in kingdom Wales did not scorch the heads of creatures, it only did its business of providing light.
Avyanna and Theseus talked about nature. He said; “Would it shock you if I told you that, I know who created nature?”
“No. It wouldn’t. We all know the moon goddess. Some more than others.” Avyanna considered telling him about how she made it through time, but changed her mind.
“I guess we all do. Don’t we.” Theseus confirmed what he always knew by merely observing the Luna’s countenance.
“Yeah.”
They moved from one place to another, talking about gods, love and what have you.
The whole conversation became centered on Theseus, so he invited her over to his kingdom, like what other way would be better for him to show interest in their alliance that has been created.
“Would you mind accompanying me to my kingdom?”
“I didn’t know you have a kingdom.” Avyanna said in surprise.
“I don’t like talking about it. You should come visit me in my kingdom one of these days. Come and see for yourself the things I have built, the people that worship your friend.”
“Worship?” Avyanna asked.
“Forgive my dictation,” he said immediately, “Nevertheless, don’t say no. I have been here to see you, several times, despite my busy schedule, it would only be appropriate of you accept my warm invitation.”
“Huh…” Avy stroked her chin, contemplating her next words.
“Just come and see where your friend lives, come and see his people.” Theseus was not going to take no for an answer. If she said no, he would make use of emotional blackmail.
“It’s been long I left my kingdom” Avyanna said as her heart skipped, but she did not know why. “The restructuring has been a progress but there is still work I have to do here.”
“It does not matter. I guarantee your kingdom is safe.” He said raising his left hand to place on her shoulder.
Avyanna was swayed. She felt it was not totally a bad idea because she would get to see his family, and his people. It might have enable her understand him and make their friendship stronger than inception.
Might.
“That’s a good idea, at least I would get to know you better” Avy nodded.
“Yes you will my dear, better than you did expect” Theseus chuckled at her innocence, “Meet me at the Sandy Hills forest.”
The forest happened to be the same one Nancy invited her to, but Avyanna thought it was a mere coincidence because Theseus had told her to not read unreasonable reasons to things for it was the first step to living life freely.
Theseus bid his farewell, telling her he expected her to be in the forest before noon.
Avyanna told him that she would be excited to see him tomorrow.
“Okay then bye.” Theseus turned around to walk away and something happened to Avyanna.
She saw flashes of the colossal menacing wolf that plagued her nightmares. The same wolf that she saw in the void on her journey through time.
The vision was much clearer this time. The wolf had blood-red eyes that shone, and very sharp teeth. Its fur was so thick, the wind couldn’t shake it.
This wolf had been in her dream for as long as the second life was given to her. She did not dwell much on it, after all Theseus said not to relate everything one saw.
“Is everything okay?” Theseus asked.
Avyanna gasped for breath subtly, “Everything is fine. Just a … slight headache.”
“Okay.” Immediately Theseus turned around, she shut the door and fell to the ground.
“Katie what was that?”
“I have no idea Avy.”
***
It was a very cool morning the next day. Avyanna planned how her day would be.
She was not as excited as she was the previous day to visit Theseus’ kingdom. Her night was disturbed by another nightmare and this time it was more intense than other times.
It was not in her culture to go back on her word. She gave Theseus her word that she was going to visit him that day, and it was not going to change. So, she cooled herself, prepared and headed out.
Avyanna shifted her mind from all the noise and probably the anxiety too, she filtered her mind and got ready to go out.
Moving through that same part to the forest, brought memories to her, she moved boldly to where her new friend stood with an ominous grin.
“May I?” He offered his hand.
“Sure.” Avyanna slipped her palms into his.
He held her hand as they journeyed to Uncertainty.
They talked about a lot the last night, but for some reasons unknown to Avyanna, she had never mentioned anything about her dreams to Theseus Brute, and she still did not, even as she talked about her previous day after he left.
“Hey, where are we going. It’s just forest.”
Just then, reality tore apart like a flimsy paper would.
“Whoa, what is that?” Avyanna felt a different sensation as they walked past the rip in space; the portal to Uncertainty.
Suddenly, the dark energy that radiate all over Theseus was magnified a million times. His aura and countenance changed and Avyanna was still trying to unmask the strange power she sensed.
He was in his kingdom and the true nature of his power could not be concealed or suppressed anymore.
“What is happening Theseus?” Avyanna was shaken. She had not been that scared ever since she was a kid.
Theseus did not give her a reply, he just kept smiling at her and holding her hands.
“Theseus, you’re creeping me out.”
“Do you trust me?” He asked.
“Give me a reason to.” Avyanna yelled.
“Okay then.” Theseus let go of her hand.
Immediately, two demonic creatures gripped Avyanna’s hands, and wrapped a large chain around her neck.
In the heat of the moment, she realized that she had just walked into a trap.
“Why are you doing this?” Avyanna asked fiercely.
“The same reason I told you a creature would do it, remember we creatures are selfish and cryptic.” He giggled. Theseus had never felt this type of joy, at least not recently. He floated, revealing his true form.
Theseus turned into a colossal wolf that had searing red eyes. His howl almost deafened Avyanna.
“It is you. You are the wolf in my dreams.” Avyanna could not breathe, she struggled with the energy she perceived, and the chains that wrapped her neck.
“Oh, you have been seeing me in your dreams, so popular of me to have manifested, but you never mentioned to your dear friend, you never told me you had scary nightmares, so now, we are even, seems I was not the only keeping secrets, we are both guilty. You meticulous child.” He disappeared into thin air. Avyanna knew she was in for it, and this time, she was in for it big.
***
In the Lycan territory, Baron slept quietly in his room. He felt cold and a sharp feeling of pain around his neck, and it was not a good sensation.
What could be wrong?
He faintly felt Avyanna’s presence. “Something is not right!”
He hopped out of his bed. It was absurd for him to feel this way, plus it happened seldomly.
“I hope she is okay.” He muttered as he got out of bed, slapped on his clothes, and headed out to where he was drawn to.
