Chapter 110 - The Truth
Mark twain once said ‘The truth hurt, but silence kills’
Archon watches from the moment Phoebe was born to the moment that she set foot in the heavenly realm. Everything that she was and everything that she is was a lie. The people that she hurt and manipulated the people that she terrorised and threated. Watching as she laughed and cheated Athena out of her rightful place as the goddess of the birds. Archon cried as he watched the hate that was spread due to Phoebe’s treatment of the bird species.
“Please tell me that this isn’t right? Please there has to be a mistake” Archon begs the mystic as once again Archon witnesses the torture and the pain caused to others within the realm.
“Everything you see is what you have seen before but never believed that you were seeing. The pain that you helped cause has caused the barriers to weaken as the people lose faith in what you are and what you will do to protect them.” The mystic replies matter of fact voice.
“But if I saw this that means that I should have stopped this. I would never have allowed this to happen” Archon mutters as his anger rises.
“Being angry isn’t helping anyone take action and change the opinions of your people before you lose everything” the mystic snaps at Archon.
The mystic continues to show the truth as well as the parts that Shakti took part in. The lies and the potion that she used to drug Archon into thinking that he was her fated mate. He watched as Phoebe and Shakti kill not only his mother but Shakti’s as well. The fight between Lycus and Shakti as he catches her killing the king. Archon when he runs into the room only to find a unconscious Shakti and a bleeding Lycus with his dead father. He was so angry that he didn’t believe Lycus and made him spend time in their prison but still Lycus accepted the apology when Shakti said that he did attack her but he thought she was the criminal as it was close to the truth and Lycus couldn’t remember exactly what happen Archon said sorry and they continued. But now looking back Archon was seething mad.
Shakti and Phoebe had planned this for years.
“What do I do moving forward. They both have to pay for the crimes that they have committed. I can’t let this go unanswered” Archon says to the room.
“Yes, you must be just and equal in your punishment. As they have both committed so many crimes against us all it is only right they are punished. But punishing without evidence means that you become the criminal and that is not what we want. Search for the evidence that you need to make them pay and then make sure that they are punished. But I warn you, your misdeeds with have a punishment all of there own so know that you are not escaping either” the mystic says to Archon.
“I guess that is only fair. I just hope that I haven’t done something that is going to cause any more hurt” Archon says as he climbs to his feet and walks out of the meeting room as he walks through the temple he sees many of his people give him a wide berth or turn in the other direction to not look at him.
“Everyone to the dining room there is something that I want to discuss with the whole realm” Archon calls as he moves towards the dining room.
As Archon stands on the alter in the dining room he watches as his people enter the room begrudgingly. Archon watches as his friend enter the room also but stand further away from him than normal. Taking a deep breath Archon sighs before clearing his throat.
“Thank you for coming” Archon begins when he hears a voice at the back of the room respond
“It’s not like we have a choice, you being the king and all” Archon drops his head and then raises it and speaks with authority.
“Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to come in here, I do appreciate it. I would like to first all let you know how sorry I am that this has happened here and I think that enlight of what has just happened things need to change so I will welcome any and all advice regarding this and as we come to a plan that we all agree on we will move forward.
Secondly, I will be telling you all that we have found that we have a traitor in our mists and right at this moment we are gathering the necessary information to make them both pay for this. I also want to apologise for my part in this. You and I have all been bespelled and this has made what we believed not the truth. Please see Aibelle and Hekate at the end and we will make sure that you are cleared of any confusion.
If you have any questions, please ask them” Archon says as he looks at the shocked crowd in front of him.
“Why should we trust you when all that has happened has been your fault”
“You are no better than us you allowed someone in here that killed”
“Poisioned”
“Murdered”
“Betrayed us”
The comments were continuously being called out as the others watched on. Archon took each comment as a personal hit and while part of him deserved to pay for what had happened, he didn’t realise how much damage that he had done to his people.
“I understand how angry you all are. I myself am very angry as well I hope that you can give me time to right these wrongs and if not, I will relinquish my title and leave for the super realm” Archon calls.
The words set a shock wave through the realm the walls shook and rattled the people in the crowd gasped and tittered as the ground under them moved. It was like the realm itself knew that this could be the very end of their existence and was upset with that fact.
“Find evidence”
“Right the wrong”
“Fight for your people”
“Fight for justice”
“Fight for Helios”
“Athena”
“Princess”
“Just fight”
The people continued to yell out as Archon bows and walks through the crowd and out the front door.
“Where are you going?” Athan asks as he skips beside Archon.
“Phoebe’s temple” Archon grunts out
“So, you are finally aware of what has happened? I guess that when we find Phoebe we need to ask a few questions” Athan says as he continues to move beside Archon.
“If I find the evidence questions won’t be asked the punishment will be a blending and then execution” Archon mutters as he pushes open the doors of Phoebe’s temple.
"ooh I love a good execution" Athan says happily.
