Chapter 54

“A ripple of power, what could that mean?” The Queen murmurs to herself as well as her super as she paces back and forth through her room. At this rate she will wear a track in the floor so deep that you will get stuck.
“What could that ripple of power mean?” The Queens asks her super in her head again. It seems as though the super isn’t willing to talk to her. For years now this has been the case, her super only came out when absolutely necessary otherwise she would stay to the back of her mind glaring at her.
“Shut up, you are giving me a headache” The Queen’s super snipes from inside the Queens mind.
“You shut up” The Queen snaps back but all she got was an eye roll.
The door bursts open with the King looking messy and unkept, looking at the man that many years ago made her heart race the Queen feels slightly sick looking at the useless being that he is now.
“Should have killed him when you killed his mate, why do you think that he is a shell of his former self. Even I know that what you did was mean and cruel and you only did it because you couldn’t bare being a loser” The Queen’s super laughs as she taunts the Queen.
‘WHAT!” The Queen snaps at the King.
“Did you feel it? It felt amazing” The King says excitedly. As the Queen looks at the king.
“Amazing, the whole realm felt. Meaning we need to find what it is and get rid of it” The Queen snaps at the King while giving him a dirty look.
“Y…yes of course” The King says making a visible effort to pull himself together.
She was always bitchy, sometimes it was really hard to find even a single thing that would make the king like her, the Queen was greedy, nasty and power hunger just to name a few things. She was also an extremely jealous person and heaven help anyone that got in her way.
Part of the King hated the woman to her very core while there was a small part like grain of sand small that made him respect her drive to get what she wanted. The King just hated that the Queen sacrificed others to achieve what she wanted. If she could get from A to B quicker then she would and that was constant dissent among the realm with the way she not only treated people but the horrible rumours that she would tell to cause strife and mistrust.
The King regretted what he did in aiding the Queen in killing of the Phoenix species, they were firm and just with the members of the realm so he always regretted the slaughter that he was apart of. Now after losing Caleb and his fated mate the king tried to get on board with what the Queen wanted but that was only from fear of losing his life at her hands.
“Do you know what it was?” The Queen asks.
“No, no one does. But the palace is buzzing “the King starts excitedly again before stopping his words as the Queen stomps closer to him, bracing himself for the hit that was coming.
THUMP! The King head whips to the side as the Queen users all of her strength to hit him in the side of the head.
“Sorry, my Queen it is just something that we haven’t felt for a l….” The King apologises but cuts himself off so that he doesn’t say what he actually wants to. The last thing the realm needed was the Queen having a royal fit and start a mass execution of anyone that looks slightly suspicious.
“What.. What were you going to say?” The Queen snaps at the King.
“Nothing, its just that the power was something I haven’t felt for a while” The King’s word rush out of his mouth. “I mean before” he mutters looking around the room nervously.
“A while, what do you mean?” The Queen storms towards the King.
“GUARDS!” The Queen shouts, The King looks frantically around the room looking for an escape for what is coming but sees no exit. The Queens guards rush into the room and try and grab the king. As he fights the guards become more determined to do the Queens bidding.
“Take him down to the interrogation room” The Queen demands. The grunts and sound of flesh hitting flesh becomes more and more intense.
“Grab him!” Shouts one of the guards.
As the King hit out trying to stop the guards, he hit the one on the right straight in the face, as the satisfying crack and the warm burst of blood burst over his face he rushed forward trying to get out of the room. The lead guard tackled him to the ground, Summoning all the magic possible within his body.
“Super I need you” The king growls through his head.
“If we do this then you and I need to get away otherwise we will die now by the evil’s bitch’s hand or by being fatally injured as this is our last time” His super says angrily.
His super hasn’t been a fan of mine for a long time now, after the incident with the Phoenix he barely spoke to me but that changed with we met our mate he was happy and regaining his strength but after she was killed, he didn’t speak to me much anymore.
The King takes several hits to the head and the body.
Suddenly his body was engulfed in flames and the screams and pained yells of the guards and the Queen were music to his super’s ears. Pushing to King’s feet he stands and flees the room over to have a blast of magic hit his back, his super grunts but manages to hold his flame, as the king races through the front of the palace another hit comes which makes him stagger. Slowly regaining his balance, the king allows his super to take flight once outside. Hearing the vague calls of the Queen the king turns his head just missing the next attack that comes for him. Weaving through the sky like a drunk we manage to keep flight until we reach what appears to be an old cabin in the woods.
“This is it, I can’t help you again, I would say that it has been a fun ride but I would be lying and if it didn’t affect me too much I would gladly tell you to die slow and painfully but that means I suffer the same fate. I really hate you other and I hope that you have learnt your lesson that betrayal isn’t the answer” His super growls at him
“I am sorry super” The King says with sadness
“I don’t care” His super replies.
As we crash into the ground, the pain is indescribable taking a deep breath I hear the front door of the cabin open and many footsteps running outside.
“It’s the King”
“Father”
“Great, this place isn’t safe anymore”
“Busted”
