Chapter 63
South Group.
“London do you feel anything?” Landon asks as they get closer to the south boarder.
“Feel anything like what exactly? Where every guard is hiding? Or maybe whether or not you are annoying the shit out of me? Because let me tell you I am definitely feeling the third.” London snarks back to Landon.
“I swear your whole family was fed sarcasm and asshole pills as babies” Landon mutters back.
“Well you might be right; I did spend a lot of time with Tennessee and Tito growing up” London says nodding sagely.
“The shadows are talking” Erebus calls
“Of course they are talking, they are saying I don’t want to be fighting today” one of the demons mutters from behind them.
“Alright everyone, just past the tree line is where we are going to be finding our targets. Kill all and let me know when you have the warlocks, I need a word” London says as she turns back to face the front of the group.
“Ok, South group lets do this” Landon calls.
London remains at the back of the group watching as the wolves, demons, witches and Fae rush forward quickly and quietly and start their mission.
“You know that there is going to be losses right?” Erebus says as looks down at London.
“Did you always want to be a god?” London asks her question to avoid answering Erebus’s
“No, I was made a god after great sacrifice, but this was not something that I saw for myself” Erebus mutters.
“Its painful leaving the one that you love isn’t it, I mean mother never liked or cared for any of her children, she didn’t really want us just her fated mate. With each child that was born was just another responsibility that one or all of us had to handle. Tito took on the most, even while being a Alpha he still made time with us. Tennessee was always a little unhinged, but I guess that is natural when you are part demon, Jameson changed when his fated mate Sasha died and Skky I never liked her and I can’t say that I like Shakti either. But leaving is the hardest. I guess that is just something that has to happen” London says sadly before walking towards the tree line.
“Not all loss is forever” Erebus mumbles as he follows her.
“Yes, it is, it’s just a lie we tell ourselves to make us feel better. Saying that we will see them again makes the pain a little less” London says before vanishing.
Reappearing in front of several guards London wielding her magic like a weapon. The sounds of zips and zaps and the hair-raising magic flies around the field. There are wolves jumping, snarling, growling, ripping and tearing any and all guards that they come across of. The demons are here one minute and gone the next not before ripping still beating hearts from chests and heads from their bodies. The Fae are right along the witches using their magic to kill any and all guards on sight.
Looking around I see the guards bodies dropping left and right. But the more we drop the more that keep coming.
“Erebus a little help” I call as I see Erebus standing at the line of trees.
“We are meant to be neutral” Erebus calls back while inspecting his nails.
“Yes, yes. You are neutral. But help a witch out” London calls back. As London continues to call back to Erebus, London watches as his eyes widen dramatically. Erebus shimmers and then disappears but by the time he reappears in front of London it was just in time to catch her dying body. As the guard withdraws the sword that he just used to run through London’s heart.
“LONDON!” Landon screams as he races across the field trying to reach her.
“Why did you turn your back?” Erebus asks as he lowers London and himself to the ground.
“T..take care of the field and I will explain why I can. But be quick the poison is working quickly.” London gasps out.
Erebus climbs to his feet and within seconds the screams, cries and shouts echo around the field as Erebus releases his shadows and kills every guard in sight.
“London. Help we need a witch now” Landon calls urgently as he drops to his knees beside a heavily bleeding London.
“Say..Saying goodbye is never easy. I have always saw my end and I knew the moment we were in the house that this was how I was going to die. I need this otherwise Essy will forever hold on to us. She is scared and while Nix is powerful her hurt and sadness as she loses what she loves the most will make her the toughest and more determined. So, this needed to happen. There is a letter in Essy’s room that I left there let her read it. She needs to know that this is for the best. Tell Dom that I am sorry. I spent so much time hiding that he will feel this the most but not understand.” London gasps while coughing blood.
“You were his mate, weren’t you?” Erebus sighs.
“Yes, I hid it. I took potions to make sure that he never found out. I promised myself that once Essy was ok that I would reveal the truth but that was before I found out that Essy is his second chance mate and if she doesn’t choose Caleb which I don’t believe she will then Dom will be her second chance, and they could be amazing together.” London mumbles. As the blood continues to poor out her mouth London coughs again before she starts wheezing and struggling to breathe.
“St…Stop the queen Landon and Erebus. The things that she has planned for Essy will break her and that means we will be in more trouble than we are now.” London gasps.
London’s eyes close and she her breathing stops.
“Be at peace London” Landon sighs.
The rest of the group bow their heads and utter the last goodbye. As London’s body starts to shimmer as she leaves this world.
“Did we get everyone?” Landon calls to the group.
“Yes”
“Erebus got most of them”
“None left”
“Any other losses” Landon calls
“No” the group responds sadly.
