Chapter 19 - The Elder
“So, we get to find an elder and not just any elder but the Phoenix elder that is quite powerful. I mean who makes up this stuff surely, we could look for... gee I don’t know a little nymph or something. Why did we get the Phoenix” Athan whines as they continue down the streets in the super realm.
“Athan what is your problem. We need to find the elder and once we do, we will watch and wait.” Bride growls as Athan.
“I just want some action and I know that, that little shit over at the Queen’s is probably eating something good and we have hide out here” Athan mumbles as Bride and Erebus both smack Athan across the back of the head.
“What…. Don’t pick on me” Athan whines again before moving further in front so that he was out of hitting distance.
“What do you think we are going to find?” Bride asks Erebus.
“I don’t know, I am more concerned with how many times have we been through this. What did we find out that caused Nix to sacrifice everything to reset the time. That couldn’t be easy. Add to the fact that she has just lost her parents again and they have come through and asked her to do it again. Is that the catalyst each and every time? Or do we find out too much information and therefore that is what makes the oracles ask her to do it? Who has been with her when she sacrificed herself? There are a lot of questions and a lot of answers that we need” Erebus mutters.
“Agreed, I am concerned with quite a bit regarding the decisions that the kids are making and while I don’t mind joining in on their pranks and escapades there was always me there to help or Athan, but now I have all the questions that you do and then some. Why is this happening. It can’t be just as Archon and Aibelle took over. Was there something that was suppose to happen but didn’t? I mean what have they been doing sitting in their little ivory tower that they thought that they had to have more. Archon has always been just but lately there have been more and more complaints from the supers and that all comes back to Archon. So, there is something drastically wrong but what we are missing something vital” Bride mutters.
“Maybe we are missing something at all maybe what we think we are missing is in fact something that we already know. Like the old King and Queen had a perfect rule nothing went wrong and I mean nothing. The moment that Archon took over everything went to shit really quick we were barely home in the realm for more than a day before we were called out again. Now we have oracles thinking that they need more power but they never had it to begin with the old king and queen put them in as advisor only a few centuries before they retired. So why do they want power all of a sudden” Athan says as he continues to watch the walk ways of the road.
“What did you just say?” Erebus asks
“I mean surely you thought about it. Since the old king and queen have moved to the super realm, they are always having visitors I mean only a few months ago they had a big dinner party with the Queen and the high-ranking officials. It must suck being the king and queen and then you move to the super realm and bam you are just an ordinary joe no different than a pleb it must have been an adjustment a half.” Athan says as he walks past a stall and takes and apple and leaves a coin the shop owner yells out thank you as Athan does a half-hearted wave as he continues to walk on.
“How did you know that the king and queen had a dinner party for the high-ranking officials? Who were the officials? Bride asks.
“Oh I know people the goss was funny. So, the old queen had to serve the new queen but they instantly didn’t like each other so the Phoenix and the Fae had to separate them several times as they had their little bitching sessions. The Horde king said that it was a waste of his time as they still refuse to allow another vampire to be born as then there would be double the number of vampires to any other species and the old queen said that there should be a way to eliminate the troubled supers. The new queen laughed and said ‘if only we could rip them out’ everyone laughed” Athan says with a chuckle.
“Athan, do you know what you are saying?” Erebus mutters as he pulls Athan to a stop.
“Sure the words are coming out of my mouth why wouldn’t I know what I am saying. The Horde king and I laughed for hours when he was telling me the story” Athan says with a smile.
“Athan, tell me again” Bride asks as she pulls Athan to a stop and turns him to face her.
“Tell you what?” Athan asks as he faces Erebus and Bride.
“Tell us everything that you just said. Everything about the old queen and king of the heavenly realm and the dinner party. Everything!” Bride mutters.
“The old king and queen had a dinner party? Wonder why we weren’t invited” Athan asks with a pout.
“Athan you just said it. About the old Queen and King and the high-ranking officials having dinner together with the Phoenix and the super realm’s queen. Don’t you remember?” Erebus mutters as he continues to stare at Athan.
“Wow, I would have loved to attend that party. Man, the things we could have found out” Athan says excitedly. As he turns to continue down the road.
Bride and Erebus look at each other for a spilt second before nodding their heads and taking off after Athan. Just as they reach Athan an emergency call is sent out over the heavenly realm that they are under attack. Not wasting any time Bride grabs Erebus and Athan and zaps back to the realm.
As the appear smoke clouds their vision as cries and scream echo through the courtyard.
