Chapter 6 - The Shadow
“Hello? You must be the shadow” Tish asks as both the demon and shadow stop talking
“Cold, dark and crowded. Cold, dark and crowded” The shadow whispers as it continues to look at Tish and the demon wrapped around her legs.
“I see that you joined the girl only a few weeks after the demon, how can you both be here and not kill each other?” Tish asks.
“Young, very young” the shadow growls.
“Yes, she was very young and what those humans did wasn’t right. But I think that you are doing the best you can. I also can tell that you are older than the newborn that is the demon so tell me how much do you know or how much can you tell me?” Tish asks
“Too much, the demon is scared and too young I was taken from my other and felt my other die. There isn’t just me here. There are others we are all trying to protect her we want to keep her safe. There is a lot that is going to happen and I don’t know if we can all survive here but I do know that we are trying we are trying to grow with her but she is so scared all the time and she can barely focus enough anymore to keep us together” The shadow says sadly.
“What do you mean keep us together?” Tish asks as she looks at the Shadow.
“Seven, is the one thing that we agree on. She is the one thing that we want to protect and keep safe so for the most part we all get along. I know that isn’t something that is heard of very often. I have heard rumours that the Gods and Goddesses get along and they are all different but we are all different living inside one body. So, we agreed we watched and wait and make sure that this little girl had a better life so we all try very hard to get along. But she is unstable at the moment and some of the others are taking this a chance to try and push us out. The majority of us are fighting back but there are some here that are trying to control her and lead her in different direction. A direction that will kill us all” The shadow mutters.
“I can see that this is a bigger problem. So, what can we do? What else happened to get you in here? Are there other supers as young as the Demon?” Tish asks quietly as the soft snores of the demon can be heard.
“To answer your questions. The ones of us that agree to protect this girl we are standing strong. We will continue to fight and we will win. All I remember was when me and my other were captured, we were taken to exposed stone building with no windows and it smelt bad. My other told me that it was part of the castle for the King and Queen. I don’t remember a lot from there, after I was ripped out the transport was rough and I almost died. When I was forced into this girl I latched on. But then I realised that this girl is not alone. There is a young vampire here but they aren’t as young as the Demon” The Shadow says as it looks down at the sleeping demon with fondness.
“So, what do you want to do? Are you happy to stay here and live here from now on if you can all survive together?” Tish asks as she sits on the ground beside the sleeping demon.
“Yes, we want to stay if we can. But we know that for us to stay the others that are causing trouble need to go.” The Shadow responds.
“We will see what we can do. I know the God Archon will need to decide but he would never hurt any child and I am sure that she will be given mentoring and help to achieve balance just like all the new newborns” Tish replies
“What are you going to do. There are so many of us in such a small space all wanting time and attention from the girl but while some of us are good and want to help her the others aren’t so. What can we do from here?” The Shadow asks.
“I need to talk to everyone; I need to find out whether or not we can reach an agreement about all being here but what I need most is to find out what happened” Tish mutters
“Hungry, hungry, need some blood. I need to get someone under my fangs” sings a voice from the dark.
“Quick stand behind me and take demon with you” Shadow mutters as it stands taller and makes the demon and Tish harder to see.
“Vamp what are you doing?” The Shadow asks as it continues to stand tall.
“Hungry, so hungry”
“I know that you are hungry but you can’t eat until Seven is back on her feet”
“Please I feel like I am melting away”
“Take some of my blood” The shadow offers as it offers out its arm.
“Mm, dark blood” The Vamp laughs hysterically.
“Just eat if you want to eat” The Shadow growls as it continues to look at the Vampire.
The vampire wastes no time leaping forward and wrapping its fangs around the Shadows wrist and pulse point and sinks its fangs deep. The vampire growls and groans before loud sucking and slurp can be heard in the otherwise quiet space.
“Good Vampire”
The vampire nods its head while it continues to suck and slurp. The Shadow pats the vampire on the head and whispers quietly as the vampire continues to drink its fill.
“Will the vampire talk to me?” Tish asks
“Yes, once its full it will talk” The Shadow replies.
With one more loud slurp the vampire detaches its fangs and licks the wound close before turning and wiping its mouth.
“Are you ok vamp? Nice and full?” The shadow asks
“Full and ok” the vampire responds.
“Good. There is someone here that wants to talk to you about how you came to be a part of this little girl.
“Why do I talk?” The vampire asks
“We just want to know how you came to be here” The Shadow responds. As Tish steps forward and looks at the vampire, the vampire stares and points at Tish, while Tish stands shocked.
