Chapter 98 - Shakti and Archon
“So, what is it that you like to do?” Archon asks as he walks beside Shakti.
“Do? As in?” Shakti asks as she kicks a pebble that was on the ground.
“For fun, what do you like to do?” Archon asks again while turning his head and looking at her.
“I am not allowed fun, or free time or anything that is for myself. My mother is very strict and if she sees me doing something that is a waste of time, she will be very mean to me and punish me. She even had the Phoenix elder come and visit us and a mage. They tried to take my powers and when that didn’t work, they forced me to drink this drink that would bind my powers” Shakti mutters as she continues to kick at the pebble on the ground.
“WHAT! That is ridiculous. That is a crime you can’t take other super’s powers or abuse your powers that is why the Phoenix have been in charge for a long time simply because while they are the most powerful, they are also the fairest” Archon says with a disgusted voice.
“Oh, I didn’t know that it was a crime. My mother has been trying to steal my powers for years now. Ever since she saw how strong I was” Shakti says sadly.
“Oh, I am so sorry, when we get back to the house, I will demand that you come live with us.” Archon says determinately.
“You… You will do that?” Shakti asks with a voice full of hope.
“Yes, you can’t stay with Nessa this is dangerous” Archon growls.
“When you come to live with us, what would you like to do” Archon asks excitedly.
“Mm, I want to eat naughty food like hamburgers and chips and I heard that they was a thing called chocolate that I really want to try. I want to stay up late and watch movies and tv and just lay around and do nothing” Shakti says with a smile as she adds a little skip to her walk.
“Ok, Shakti we will do all of that and more” Archon says as he gives her his biggest smile. “Oh, you can also meet my friends they will absolutely love you” Archon calls as he continues walking on the path.
“RETURN!” Asa’s voice calls through the winds.
“Mother wants us to return” Archon says as he turns to head back towards the house.
“I am scared to go back; mother will be angry, and she will also not be happy to let me leave. Maybe I should just stay out here until you are ready to leave as I don’t want mother to yell at me. She scares me and she is mean. She…. She killed my dad” Shakti cries as she lets a single tear slide down her cheek.
“What, why hasn’t she been punished then?” Archon growls out
“She lied she said that I did it” Shakti replies
“This is to much” Archon mutters as he grabs Shakti’s hand and then turns them both and walks back to the house.
“I won’t let anyone hurt you and I will make sure that you can come back with me and my mother to the Heavenly realm” Archon says
“WOW! You really live in the heavenly realm, I have always wanted to go there but you are never allowed unless you were lucky enough to be born there or if you are a god or goddess” Shakti rambles.
“Well, you are lucky because you can come and live with us” Archon agrees happily.
As they walk back into the house Archon growls out that Shakti will be returning to the heavenly realm with them so that they can get to know each other better and that he didn’t want to hear it from his mother or Shakti’s.
Both mothers look shocked and bewildered as Archon yells his decree.
“But Archon?” Nessa mutters
“But nothing, Shakti would like to get to know us better and she I think that the best way to do this is for her to come back with us and get to know the realm better” Archon interrupts Nessa.
“Shakti, wanted to come back with us? Why would she want to come back with us. Normal supers are not allowed in our realm” Asa says matter of fact.
“I think that it is best that you stay with us Archon and you can explore the super realm with Shakti and get to know your people better” Nessa says as she looks at Asa for help.
“No, Mother listen to me this is for the best. Shakti can explore our realm get to know more gods and goddesses and that way we will be on hand to help her if she needs it.” Archon replies.
“Shakti, you have to understand that this isn’t what is done. You have to understand that we have rules just like everyone else and breaking those rules is not good. We value chain of command and unfortunately this is breaking the rules.” Asa mutters.
“I understand Asa” Shakti says sadly and turns to Archon and says, “I can’t come as I can’t break the rules.”
“You are not breaking the rules, I am the next god of the supers so, I Archon the heir to the heavenly realm hereby officially offer an invitation to your Shakti to entre the heavenly realm and have access at all times from now until as such time as I revoke the invitation” Archon mutters.
“WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?” Asa yells looking shocked and angry.
“Take it back, take it back now, the offer now” Nessa calls to Archon
“No, I will not take it back. I want Shakti to come with us” Archon says with a matter-of-fact voice.
“This is wrong, we should ask your father and the Phoenix if this is allowed” Asa begs almost desperately.
“You do that, meanwhile….” Archon replies before grabbing Shakti’s hand and disappearing from the room.
“ARCHON!” Asa screams
“Asa, this is wrong. Yes we wanted her to go but under blindness. What have we done” Nessa cries out as she continues to stare at the spot that Shakti was last standing.
“Nessa” Asa calls as she walks to where Archon and Shakti were standing.
“What?” Nessa replies.
“There’s a note” Asa responds as she bends down and picks up a piece of paper on the ground.
“What does it say?” Nessa asks while rushing towards Asa>
*“Dear Mother and Asa,
I hope that when you see this letter you know that you lost. I will take what I want when I want and there will be nothing you can do to stop me.
By the way Asa, Archon may be smart and gifted with so many supers running through his veins, but he is stupid and gullible. I will make you all pay for not letting me have what I want the most.
POWER!
Power, is what I crave, and power is what I will have. Goodbye may your walk through the nether be sad and lonely.
BOOM! BOOM”*
The explosion that rips through the house leaves nothing standing.
