Chapter 99 - Aftermath

*“In breaking news, we would like to report a massive explosion that has killed our Queen Asa and her best friend Nessa of the Ghouls.
There has been no further information on what caused the explosion it is said that King Archon was meeting his fated mate Nessa of the Ghouls daughter. The King deeply sadden has also lost his life we wish the best for Archon and his new mate and our new Queen Shakti.
They will tie the knot and seal the mate bond after the period of mourning in twelve days.
Rest in Peace King and Queen and reign long and true Archon and Shakti.”*
“Did you see that we have been asked for another interview about the loss of the King and the Queen” Lycus mutters as he comes to sit at the table along with Erebus and Hekate.
“Of course the media are just as bad as the human realm if not worse. We are all mourning, and they want answers to their stupid questions” Erebus mutters as he takes a bit of the fluffy bread rolls that are sitting on the table.
“I wish we knew what happened” Hekate says as she takes a bite of her apple.
“Yes, well we have a new goddess arriving in a few weeks, the wedding and the mating of Shakti and I as well as everything else we normally have to take care of on a daily basis.” Archon mutters as he takes a sip of his coffee whilst watching the other gods and goddesses talking at nearby tables.
Shakti was off showing the new goddess of the birds Phoebe around the realm, and it seems that Phoebe and Shakti have been good friends.
“Is everything set up for the wedding?” Hekate asks as she continues to eat her apple.
“Yeah, I really don’t want to go overboard but Shakti hasn’t had a good life and wants to celebrate so I have left everything up to the lesser goddesses which after talking to them this morning they have everything sorted” Archon replies as he watches Shakti, walk through the big double doors of the dining room.
“I am sure that if you mention this to Shakti that she will understand and will be happy to cut back the celebrations” Erebus mutters around a mouthful of bread.
“Humph” Lycus mutters
“Yeah” Hekate adds as she watches Shakti walk up to their table.
“Morning” Shakti mutters as she looks at the other gods and goddesses briefly before moving onto Archon.
“Morning baby” Archon replies as he opens his arms waiting for Shakti to walk into them.
As Shakti walks up to Archon, she takes a deep breath and forces a smile onto her face as she walks into Archon’s arms and wraps her arms around his neck.
“The happy couple” Lycus says as he stands “I have stuff to take care off. My new Alpha is being born today so I want to be there to welcome him into the world” Lycus says as he turns and walks out the room.
“He is getting a new Alpha?” Shakti asks as she continues to keep her head tuck into Archons neck.
“Yes, the old Alpha of the super realm has an heir coming and he will be born soon. So Lycus likes to meet the pup and wish him well. Lycus will visit periodically throughout the new Alpha’s years just to make sure that everything is as it is supposed to be. This Alpha is also destined to take over from Lycus when his time of being a god comes to an end.” Archon says as he gives Shakti a little squeeze.
“What do you mean? When his time comes to an end?” Shakti snaps as she sits up right.
“What? Oh, sorry I forget that you haven’t been here that long, so you don’t know all the laws and rules yet. Well, many, many years ago my parents made a law which is unbreakable. They gave us gods and goddess a timeframe so for example we only get a century as rulers then we relinquish the power to the new generation, and we go back to the super realm and live out our time as supers before passing and being reborn if we wish. But all gods and goddesses thought that once we have lived way longer than normal supers that if we become gods and goddesses and after a hundred years of servitude that when we die that we don’t get reborn for a thousand years giving us time to rest and relearn where we failed in life.” Archon says with a big smile on his face.
“But that is silly, surely as a god and the king at that that you can change such a silly rule. You have only been a king for such a short time.” Shakti says with a shaking voice.
“Yes and No. But none of us want to change it and nor can we. It was sealed with everyone’s blood and some of those generations don’t exist anymore so the law will never be broken” Archon says happily.
“Why are you happy?” Shakti snaps.
“Well to live in the super realm until death is something that I am looking forward to” Archon responds.
“So I will stay here, and you will be there that doesn’t seem fair” Shakti says sullenly.
“Why, would you stay here. Fated mates go together which means that when my hundred years are up so yours and we will go back together” Archon says with a laugh as he leans in and gives Shakti a squeeze.
“I don’t want to do that Archon” Shakti says loudly as she jumps to her feet.
“This is something you should have told me way before now. We are supposed to marry tomorrow and seal the mate bond, and you are just telling me this now. You lied! You said that I can live here forever and now you are telling me that when you have served your time I will be forced to leave here and return to a place that I hate” Shakti yells as she turns around and runs from the hall.
“Correct me if I am wrong, but shouldn’t she have learnt that in class by now?” Archon says as he rubs his thumb across his bottom lip watching after Shakti that left the hall in tears.
“Yeah, it was covered in day five intro. But Shakti never showed for that class, and I should know as I was the one that ran that class.” Hekate says as she continues to eat her apple.
“So what the hell and I going to do now?” Archon mumbles as he stands to his feet ready to go after Shakti.
“No clue, but there is time to put everything on hold. She should know the rules she has been here for two weeks now and she still has not attended classes or training and she is always with Phoebe and she isn’t attending classes either” Erebus says as he to stands to his feet.
“I think that you need to postpone at least for another week of so” Hekate says as she moves to stand also.
“Why?” Archon says as he looks at one of his closet friends.
“Well apart from her not attending classes she also doesn’t want anything to do with the security around here and she also doesn’t want to help with the patrols or training either and lastly she doesn’t want to talk with us your closest friends” Hekate says as she reaches up and kisses Archon on the cheek.
“Just think about it Arch. We all had to learn why is she allowed to not to” Hekate mutters as she turns and walks out of the hall.
“She has a point, I remember when we use to skip class and your dad would yell and tell us that if we didn’t want the duties then we weren’t fit to lead” Erebus says as he pats Archon on the shoulder and walks out of the hall.
Archon, follows and goes to find Shakti. After walking around for what felt like hours Archon finally finds Shakti down by the river with Phoebe.
“Its ok Shakti, we will find a way” Phoebe says as she continues to rub Shakti back as she cries.
“Why? This isn’t fair” Shakti blubbers
