Chapter 97
“I.. I don’t need an army” Nix responds as she lights her hand and walks closer to Shakti.
“Remember the pain?” Nix says as she smiles and reaches out her hand and touches Shakti on the shoulder.
“ARGH!” Shakti screams as she tries to move away from the burning pain that engulfs her shoulder.
“Can’t run and can’t hide. Can’t forgive, can’t forget. These are the memories that you will live with now” Nix whispers inside Shakti head. Nix reaches forwards and places her hand with blue flames and places it onto Shakti head as Shakti gasps for breath Nix’s grip tightens and then Shakti opens her mouth to scream but no sound comes out.
The past
“Look mommy, look” Shakti calls to her mother as she plays with the energy within the earth.
“Mommy?” Shakti calls again looking around for her mother that was standing talking to another mommy at the park. Shakti just wanted to make her mommy happy as lately her and Daddy had been fighting a lot and she just wanted things to go back to the way they were where they could smile and laugh and be happy with each other. But lately all they do is fight, yell and scream. Shakti also cries a lot more now which makes her angry and when Shakti is angry mommy becomes angry.
“Naughty Shakti, what have I told you about playing with the energy? You have to be careful and nurturing you can’t cause problems. It is your duty as a Cosmic being to protect the balance. Why can’t you understand that?” Shakti’s mommy yells at her as she comes rushing over and knocking Shakti over so that she loses her concentration.
“I just wanted to play” Shakti mutters as she glares at her mother.
“Wow! You just wanted to play. Well, you don’t get that luxury. You are a Cosmic being, you don’t get to play.” Shakti’s mother mutters while grabbing her arm roughly and tugging her back into the house.
“You silly child, how could you be so stupid, you are doing what I have told you a million times not to do. Why can’t you listen? Why do you insist on being naughty?” Shakti’s mother yells as she storms through the house.
“I want to do what I want, it was fun” Shakti mutters sullenly.
“FUN! FUN YOU SAY. PLAYING WITH WHAT YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND WAS FUN” Shakti’s mother screams at the top of her lungs.
“So, you didn’t have a good upbringing? I am sorry that you didn’t have a good childhood but there are many people that don’t have good childhoods, and they turned out just fine and here you are whining about things not being fair.” Nix growls as she continues to siphon through Shakti’s memories.
“My mother was mean, my father didn’t care and eventually left. I was the strongest Cosmic super there was but still that was nothing compared to Archon who managed to have everything. Beautiful loving family, loving friends and was the strongest at absolutely everything. He was the strongest Super as he was a product of all, he has all the supers running through his veins and therefore he became the god of Supers as I was meant to be his mate. But I hated him, when I told my mother she laughed. She actually laughed at me and said that I better find someway to stomach this otherwise she would kill me. I was scared at she was a ghoul, and I was always terrified of her” Shakti growls as the memories continue to flick through Shakti.
“Show me” Nix growls as the memories race until Shakti turns twenty and she is introduced to Archon.
“Hello, this is Archon my son and I am Asa” says the tall elegant looking lady says as she walks towards Shakti and her mother.
“This is Shakti, I am Nessa. Shakti has shown amazing talents for cosmic energy” Nessa, Shakti’s mother replies.
“Wonderful, Archon has never understood cosmic power, so he doesn’t really understand those things” Asa says with a bright smile.
“Oh, what Shakti lacks in everything else she makes up for in cosmic power” Nessa says.
“Let’s let the children talk and we can have a conversation and see how things go” Asa says sweetly.
“Sure, Shakti… behave and go for a walk with Archon” Nessa says as she looks sternly at Shakti.
“Yes, mother.” Shakti mutters as she looks at her mother and turns to leave the house with Archon.
“Don’t go far children” Asa calls.
“Yes, mother” Archon calls back.
“So, how long as Shakti been using cosmic energy?” Asa snaps as she glares at Nessa.
“Since she was three, but we always made sure that she was very careful. However, that stopped when she was ten years old. She became careless and more willing to see what she could and couldn’t do and by doing that the officials have been to see us several times. The head Phoenix mentioned binding her powers until she understood what she was doing. But unfortunately, the first attempt failed and now she has become down right painful as she continues to mess with things that she shouldn’t” Nessa says angrily.
“I understand how hard it is to reign in someone that is so powerful but I am telling you, Shakti has caused so many problems and they are serious about punishment if you can not get her to behave.” Asa mutters as she looks at Nessa.
“What do you want me to do. I can’t control her. She killed my fated mate and I want her gone. Asa, I beg as a friend take her and reign her in” Nessa begs.
“Look, Archon says that they are fated mates, we can take her and see how things go. But I can’t promise anything” Asa replies.
“Let’s try that” Nessa agrees readily.
“Ok, when they come back, I will ask Shakti to come with us. As I am a member of the Phoenix pack, I will take her to their mage and see what we can do” Asa says with a nod.
