Chapter 18
“OK, this is what is going to happen. Erebus, Bride, Athan, you are going to go find the elder. Lycus, Daimon and Seven you are going to go keep an eye on the Queen.” Archon barks.
“What about us?” Tito asks asked, pointing back and forth between the kids, as they so affectionately call them.
“Well, I would like to say that you sit back and wait for news. That you don’t talk to anyone that you remain within this realm, but from what I can understand, that isn’t going to make anything better. It isn’t going to make you safe, and it sure as fuck isn’t going to keep you all out of trouble. So, you are all going to protect Nix and wait for the Oracle and you are going to do that with Hekate and Aibelle and myself protecting you. There will be no whining” Archon snaps his head towards Dom and Tennessee.
“Do I make myself clear?” Archon asks as he continues to stare at each and every one of them.
“I would say that you are clearer than any glass that has ever been found. What would you say, Dom,” Tennessee, asks Dom with a gleam in his eye.
“Mm, I would say crystal but I am sure that is not as clear as I thought it should be for this so my glass. But that doesn’t have the same ring to it. I mean you aren’t going to ask a question and respond with glass now are you. What is clearer than glass but sounds cool like crystal?” Dom asks Tennessee
A loud groan and slight chuckles can be heard throughout the room as Archon face palms and Aibelle and Hekate chuckle quietly.
“Why? … why do I have to deal with this shit on a daily basis. I understand that they are kids, but they are smartasses that just don’t stop.” Archon grumbles as the others start laughing louder.
“Archon, they curious” Aibelle says through her laughter.
“Well you know what curiosity did” Archon says with a raise eyebrow only to have the so-called kids yell at the top of their lungs
“KILLED THE CAT!” right before everyone is laughing loudly.
“Mm Cat” Seven mumbles as she continues to eat her half of the torso. Before Athan stands beside her.
“What does cat taste like?” Athan asks as he continues to smile at the others.
“Cat” Seven responds before turning and walking towards Erebus.
“Ok, lets get this show on the road.” Archon grumbles as he continues to shake his head at the others as they continue laugh.
The others all gather what they need and make their way towards there little groups that Archon called out and wait for the go ahead. Something that they all have learnt over the years was that when Archon gave an order it was something that no matter what you were doing that you just dropped that and did what Archon asked. Those that didn’t well they weren’t seen again.
There were rumours over the years that Archon was cruel and likes to punish them but really, he loved his people he just understood that there was a time and a place and that if he ruled with clear boundaries, those boundaries wouldn’t be crossed. But as more and more information came to light no one was sure anymore about what was going on and what was happening. For years, the Oracles have been chomping at the bit to take on a more active role but that didn’t work. Archon and Aibelle didn’t believe that they needed to have the interfere in their business, so they stayed away and only came as they were called upon.
So, what they did was beg and plead like they were begging for scrapes they were no more than dogs.
“OK, make sure that you watch only, do not engage and do not go rogue, otherwise don’t come back. We need answers, and we need to know what the hell is going on. So please do what you are asked. If there is a problem, use your best judgement, but please don’t cause one. We don’t want them to know that we are on to them” Archon says as he looks at each and every one of his friends and leaders.
“How long do we watch?” Daimon asks.
“Until we have more information” Archon responds.
“What happens if we see something that could cause a problem, like the Queen ripping a super from another?” Erebus asks.
“We eat the Queen” Seven responds with a nod.
“I like her” Athan says laughingly.
“Of course you do, she is as random as you. So basically, you like yourself.” Bride chimes in with a little shrug.
“Don’t eat anyone until we tell you to” Archon says to Seven but then shakes his head at Athan.
“Bride keep an eye on Athan and Daimon keep and eye on Seven you to Lycus.” Archon says as he turns back towards Aibelle and the kids.
“Stay safe and make sure to stay as quiet and unintrusive as possible”
Everyone nods their heads before disappearing and going to where they are told. As Archon turns to join Aibelle, Hekate and the kids a bright flash happens and Archon is blown clear off his feet. His body smashes through the wall of the temple and outside as Archon’s body bounces across the glass and pathways his body finally comes to a stop.
Hearing a distant groan and a call for help, Archon tries to sit up but can’t move.
“Aibelle”
“Hekate”
“Tennessee”
“Nix”
“London”
“Tito”
“Jameson”
“Dom….. Landon” Archon calls each person's name but with each name there is no answer, trying to turn his head. He watches in horror as there in the distance Aibelle and Nix are being carted away over some beings' shoulder.
“S..stop” Archon grumbles softly.
“It’s a pity really that you seem to know more than you should. I was looking forward to killing you while you were all shocked, like” A female's voice says from behind him.
“W…what” Archon stutters as he tries to turn his head to see where the voice was coming from.
“Don’t worry, you will find out all soon” the female's voice calls again before disappearing.
