Chapter 72
If first you don’t succeed then fuck it, get dirty and fight like a girl.
I watch and listen as the others outside get quitter and quitter until I can hear nothing.
“I hope you are right Nix” I whisper as I hear the door open.
“You can and will do this Hennessy” Nix whispers back to me.
“Yeah sure is it like I can do anything but can really do nothing?” I mutter.
“Where are the others?” The Queen murmurs as she stomps down the stairs.
“Can you walk quietly I have a headache” I snap as I rub my temples.
I barely get a second to think before I feel pressure around my throat I look down and see that the Queen has wrapped her hand around my throat and trying to strangle me, but London was right the Queen is quite weak.
“Shit, let go this is embarrassing” I say as the Queen growls and quickly lets go.
“Shut up you stupid girl” The Queen mutters.
“Yeah, No that isn’t happening.” I reply as I inspect my nails.
“I…I hate you and your family” The Queen shouts.
“Hey, use your inside voice I don’t need to go deaf” I say as I shake my head and move away from the Queen,
“If it wasn’t for your horrible family I wouldn’t be in this position” The Queen snarls.
“Funny, if it wasn’t for your greed none of us would be in this situation” I respond as I move and take a seat on the fifth step. I try and make it look as normal as possible. But as the Queen continues to rant about me being her problem and how she wishes that would have died she never notices that I am slowly moving my way up the steps.
“So I am the problem? Yada, yada. I mean at some point are you going to take responsibility for what you have done?” I ask as I continue to edge closer to the door.
“I have done nothing; I just want to be powerful. If a man did it then everyone would applaud him but when a female does it, I am the wicked witch” The Queen snaps back at me,
“You are not a witch nor are you comparing yourself to a man. I mean strength wise they have you beat and let’s face it I am sure things wouldn’t have gone quite so bad if a man had done what you did.” I say
“Are you saying that I am wrong?” The Queen snaps.
“Wrong yes a thousand percent but everyone wants power I think there is a better way to go about It and also let’s face it you went with basic poison you couldn’t even get dirty.” I respond as I am just two steps from the door now, I watch as my words sink in.
The Queen starts muttering to herself while continuing to pace back and forth. I watched as her pacing went from a small distance to a larger and larger one until she was now walking the length of the room while completely lost in her head.
I stand and slowly open the door and slide through the gap. As I quietly close the door behind me, I look down and turn the lock once the lock and clicked I jam a candle stick through the door handle and quietly creep my way towards the front door.
“Nix, I am almost there” I whisper inside my head.
“I can see that, but you are going to have to DUCK!” Nix screams inside my head. Acting on autopilot I quickly duck and dodge to the left. I feel the whoosh of air from whatever was swung at my head.
Looking up I see the most witch like person. I mean snow white had the witch right when they show her on the movie.
“Um, hi” I say as I climb to my feet.
“You shouldn’t be here” The witch growls as she walks towards me.
“Yes, I know and understand that. So, if you can kindly step aside then I will gladly leave and never come back here again” I say while pointing to the front door.
“Where is the Queen?” The witch asks in her growly voice.
“Basement” I respond while slowly taking side steps to get away from her.
“Mm, so I guess this plan didn’t work?” The witch says as she moves to take a seat.
“Yeah, I would say one hundred percent no. This plan did not work” I respond I fight my body as Nix makes me sit in the chair opposite the witch.
“Why are you doing this?” Nix asks through me>
“It was mothers plan” The witch responds.
“Why?” Nix says
“Power, wealth. I am sure there are other reasons, but I am not sure what they are. I was just told to help my sister.” The witch says
“Seems silly, you know you have the power to change this right?” Nix asks
“Some things in life can’t be changed” The witch responds sadly. “I am guessing that if you are the only one up here then that means London has escaped as well?” The witch askes while looking at her nails.
“Why do you want London?” I ask.
“There is a score to settle there, but I can wait for that. Unfortunately, you either need to leave or fight” The Witch says as she surges to her feet.
“Fight” Nix responds.
“I really don’t want to fight Nix” I beg inside my head.
“We can do this” Nix responds.
Taking a deep breath, I feel fire lick over my body, it takes a minute to realise that I am on fire and that they cuffs aren’t really doing anything to limit my power.
I hear the door open and then the Queen comes crashing through.
“You deceitful little bitch” The Queen yells as she charges me.
“Me, you’re the one that is too dumb to realise that you were locked in the basement” Nix responds. Nix jumps out of the way and send a fireball flying towards the Queen, I hear the oomph before I smell the smell of burning flesh.
“ARGH!” The Queen screams
“What you threw something first I just threw something back” Nix says brushing off imaginary lint.
“I am going to make you pay for this” The Queen shouts before racing towards us.
“I have been waiting a long time to end you Maree. Lets dance” Nix responds jumping high an unleashing a neck breaking kick towards the Queens face.
