The Search In The Room




I stood with my mouth wide open, after coming to the realisation that a robber broke in, I turned to my phone

Then called the police, I explained what had happened and how I just saw it now and after the phone call, I needed the call

"Gosh" I was surprised, this had never happened to me before, I walked into the kitchen to see if other things were missing too

"They could have killed me" the thoughts running through my head, if they had known that someone was in the house too

I was told by the police to wait, so I waited and it was then that I know Helsi had the right to know where I am and what is going on now

I called several times but she never responded nor did she return the call, I sent a message to her then I decided to remain at home waiting for the police to arrive, still shocked at the break-in though

They took about ten minutes but they finally arrived

(Door Knock)

I ran to the door, opened it

"Good day ma'am"

"Please come in" I directed the police to come in

"You reported"

"Yes" I didn't let them finish their statement

"Over there" I pointed to the kitchen " In the kitchen"

They followed me as I directed the way, they entered and looked at every corner of the kitchen

"When did this happen ma'am?" the tall fair male police officer asked as the female one nodded her head in agreement to the question

"Last night I think, I was on a call late last night and I heard some noise from the kitchen but didn't quite get it but it stopped for some time, the foolish thing I did was to let it go"

"Let what go?" he asked

"I mean, I didn't come down to check if it was actually a break-in, after the silence I just assumed it was a rat, then I slept off"

He smiled "Don't make such assumptions again" he said and walked down to the living room

I felt a little relieved, but worried at the same time because the documents at my possession is very important

"We are just going to check through the house?" the lady said

"OK" I turned to my phone again, to reach Helsi and still no response after several trial

(Sighs) Helsi can be so annoying all the time

I kept the documents on the dining table, my hands were really tired of holding it so I walked to the living room, waiting for the police to come out for her to go

"Ma'am?" the female police called out in my lost thought

"Yes" I jumped out

"Could you give us access to a door?"

I was wondering the door that she was talking about

"Which door?"

"Please, come with me" she said and directed Ava to the door that she was talking about

It was then it struck me "Nancy!!"

Oh My God, what do I do?

I began to sweat, my hands were shaky and all of a sudden I couldn't walk well again

Did I just lead myself to me forever Doom?

"There's no key to the door" I said pointing to the door knob

"Alright, we have to break it because we have to access it too" he said

I didn't say anything, I just stood there, I was already getting teary

The tall guy use a tiny tool and inserted it into the door knob which led it open

They were surprised to see such a pretty lady tied up, the fair police rushed in to her then the lady turned to me

"I need your hands up ma'am" she said directly

She didn't even ask if I was responsible or I know her

I just compiled, there was nothing I could say or do to defend myself

"Did you fake the break-in yourself?" she asked

"Why would I walk to my kitchen and break my glasses and plates?" I responded

She only smiled

She came closer and tied my hands to my back with the hank off

The police inside succeeded in un-tieing Nancy, she burst into tears immediately he did that

I stared at her like, why would she cry out like that? As if I never fed her or treated her well

"Everything would be fine ma'am, you are safe now" The policeman said to her

"Please take me home" Nancy said in her tired voice

"We will" He replied

They both walked out of the room to the living room, the police woman walked behind me to make sure I don't do anything stupid

They walked both of us out into their car then they went straight to the police station, everyone was quiet until we got to the station

"Get down ma'am" The female police said to me


Helsi's POV


"I'm really sorry sir, I would get it from her now" I said and left the room

I saw wondering why the heck Ava have not returned the document I asked of

I walked to the new secretary "Where is the document?"

"She is not here yet ma'am" she responded

"What the hell!"

"But she left a message here for you" the secretary said

"I need the documents not any message" Helsi said in a very frustrating voice and slammed the table

Helsi turned to face the room then she got a call from the secretary

"What's the problem?"

"A call from the police ma'am" the secretary responded

"The police?" Helsi asked

"Yes ma'am"

Helsi went closer to get the message the police brought

"Nancy?" the secretary asked over the phone

That got Helsi's attention

Then the secretary hung up

"What's that all about?" Helsi asked

"They said they've found your sister, Nancy"

Helsi was shocked, she didn't believe it. "What station?"

"Opposite freedom hotel"

Helsi nodded her head and walked back to the room

"I'm really sorry everyone, the document is not ready yet but"
