The Sealed Admission Letter


Mrs Spencer's POV


Mum followed her as they both went in together, and she kept asking if there was anything bothering Mary

"What's wrong mum?" Mary asked

Mum gave a deep sigh, she felt the need to discuss with her precisely about what happened to her younger sister "Go shower and come back to the living room, I have to discuss something with you"

"OK" It was at that moment that Mary knew that something was wrong, she went into her room, brought out her cell phone to make a quick call to George before she gets to the shower

(Phone rings)

"Hi" she said

"That took too long, I was hoping you won't get rid of my card" George laughed over the phone

"And why would I do that?"

"I thought you won't want to talk to me, probably what your mum said"

"Well… I called like I said I would" Mary ignored his statement

"Yeah thanks, how are you feeling now?"

"I'm good, I will be fine it might not be today or tomorrow or even few months to come but I eventually will be fine

" Yeah"

"How is your mum feeling?" Mary asked over the phone

"She is getting better, I need to attend to some things at the moment so I might just leave her for some time" George replied

"OK, is there any other person there with her?"

"My dad is always busy with work, he is the CEO of his personal company and he works like his life depends on it"

Mary could hear the funny but disturbing noise he made over the phone

"Are you an only child?" being curious, she asked

"Yes I am, is it that obvious?"

"Not really, you are really smart and responsible and that's nice" she said over the phone

She spoke to him in a low tone almost like a whisper, she wasn't in the mood of any argument her mum would bring up if she caught her making a call instead of showering

"Awww, thanks, I just need my driver here to come pick me up so that I can head home"

"Alright, I need to shower too" Mary responded

"We've got things to do"

"Yeah, so let's get to it"

"OK, and I would… speak to you later?" he said more like a question

"Yes you will" she assured him, then she hung up

She just couldn't stop smiling, she undressed herself ready to shower, she bent over her bed to get her tower

On reaching the edge of the bed, she saw an envelope, it was directed specifically to Ami, she was confused about what to do

"Why was it sealed just for her?" Mary looked at every corner of the paper to see if she could get any clue about the paper but she couldn't, she then tied her tower tight to her chest and walked to the living room

"Mum" she called out, but there was no response yet

"Mum" she called out again

"I'm in the kitchen Mary" mum said

"OK" she walked fast with her towel to the room

"Look at what I found" Mary raised the paper to show her

"And what's that?" mum asked

"I have no idea, I just know that it was directed specifically to Ami

"Let me take a look at it" mum stretched her hand to clean it dry

Without thinking twice, mum tire the paper but the main information wasn't tempered with, she opened the inner paper and slowly looked through it

She read it without saying a word then she said the last line "You have been offered admission into" Mum screamed "Ha!!" all the tears she held back cam me back rushing this time around

"That school that she has been applying for?" Mary asked

"Yes, it's dated yesterday, so probably she wanted to show us before this happened" Mum went to the floor

"Mum please" Mary shakes off the hateful feeling she had buried deep inside her

"Don't be so dramatic all the time, I don't understand what caused all these in the first place" Mary was already getting upset, she was left with no clue about what happened to her sister

"Please I want to be alone for a minute" Mum said

"You want me to leave?"

"You are making me feel bad about my baby girl and how m expressing myself about it"

"No mum, I'm hurt, deeply hurt but I don't go around rolling on the floor, if we keep doing this things then we won't head anywhere in life" Mary said

"Please, I would be in your room in few seconds" Mum said again

"Alright" Mary said and left the kitchen "Suite yourself" she said in her thought for she dare not say it loud or even as a whisper

Mary also bent over to clean up the mess that dad littered all over the places "Very dirty and unkempt man" she said whenever she picks a dirt that she was sure kept kept

After cleaning up the living room, she could still hear her mum cry and murmuring some words to herself

She went to her room for a shower, the atmosphere was already becoming congested, she wasn't comfortable in the house anymore, so she planned to go see a friend after her shower

She didn't think her mum was in a good frame of mind to have the discussion she wanted to at that point in time

"Gosh, sometimes I just hate home, like I just want to be somewhere else apart from home" she quietly opened the shower to wash herself up, the hunger that made her shiver was gone, she completely and totally lost appetite

After a very quick shower, she got all dressed to head out for a new and clean atmosphere, she needed some time and space away from home for some period of time

"Mum please I need to head out" Mary felt bad as she said those words, she saw how helpless her mum was, it was then that she remembered the words Mrs Sandra gave her *Your mum needs you now* after asking her mum, she gave deep sigh

"Never mind, I would stay at home with you" she changed her mind "So can we have that discussion you promised me?"

"Yes you can" mum smiled, even though all her smiles and joy was gone
