Her World Fell Apart

Helsi's POV


Helsi stood and went really close to know what the problem is

She listened very closely to their conversation

"What do you mean?"

"He might not survive it" The stranger very well know that he had died and did not survive the attack but chose not to say it over the phone

"Where is he?" she asked, she was already crying and being so restless

"At Dignified Hospital just opposite Mahadi Hotel"

"I would be right there" Lusi walked straight to the door

Helsi followed her as she rushed out, but she went to her mum to tell her that she was heading out

"Why again?"

"I need to get something from the market and Helsi would be going with me"

"Are you leaving me here all by myself?"

"No mami, Butrico would be home soon but I guarantee you that you are very safe here" Lusi said and walked away

She didn't have the patience to continue a prolonged discussion

She entered her car, one she used to drive to Butrico's house and went to the hospital

She wasn't the best in driving because she drove really fast and almost got them in a lot of trouble which they narrowly escaped

Lusi immediately came down from the car, she just walked into the hospital, Helsi came out and went to close Lusi's door, she had noticed that Lusi wasn't aware that she came out without closing her door

After closing the door, she followed her into the hospital, she was ahead far ahead, looking around for her husband

Helsi ran to where she was before she gets lost again

"Let's ask the nurse" Helsi said to Lusi who was already crying and really desperate to see her husband

Lusi ran where a nurse sat down and asked "Hi, please I'm here for Paul" She said to the nurse

"Paul?"

"Paul Samuel, I was told that he was brought here out of an accident" Lusi's voice was shaking terribly

"Hold on ma'am, let me check" The nurse looked at her system and did some tapping to her keyboard

Lusi kept shaking and crying

"OK ma'am, the first door by your left" the nurse looked at her with pity, she knew that she must have been called and was told about the death of her husband

"OK, thank you" Lusi walked quickly to the room, Helsi followed suit

She opened the door really hard, notifying the nurses inside and getting their attention

Lusi saw someone covered in a white rapper, she didn't want to believe that was her husband, she turned to the nurse which was running to her

"You are not supposed to be here ma'am" a nurse taps her and points to the door

"Hold on, I'm the wife of Paul Samuel, could you please tell me the room he is in?" Lusi didn't move

"Paul Samuel?" The nurse stopped persuading her to get out

"Yes please, I was told that he is here but I must have mistaken it for the next room" She turned to walk out

Then the nurse behind called out

"Ma'am"

Lusi turned to her "Not the opposite room?"

"Ma'am" she said again, this time with a sigh

Lusi didn't quite understood why she gave that sigh, but she didn't just want to believe that it was her Paul that was lying helplessly covered on white

"Yes, what's the problem?" Lusi asked with boldness even though tears kept rolling down her cheek

"ma'am" she came closer "We are really sorry but that's Paul lying over there, he died about an hour ago, we are really sorry ma'am"

Helsi was heartbroken, she didn't believe it was Paul because this would ruin Lusi's life and joy, he was her everything

She had never been happier from the moment she got married to him, she loved every moment spent with him, her life had been amazing and Helsi feared that this might wreck her so bad

"Who? My Paul lying there?" she scuffed "That's a lie… it's not true" she screamed at the nurses, she was sweating profusely and started shaking


"We are really sorry ma'am" a nurse said and motioned for her to go confirm it herself

Lusi turned to Helsi and she started crying so badly, she fell to the floor "That can't be him" Lusi kept saying to herself

"Hey" Helsi ran towards her

"Do you want to check?" Helsi asked

"That can be Paul right?" Lusi said to Helsi as she kept on crying "He promised me that he would be back to me, and I promised to make his favourite" Lusi removed the wud that she was wearing

"I'm really sorry"

"No" Lusi's voice became tiny, she turned to Helsi but couldn't say a word

"I'm really sorry sorry" Helsi couldn't hold back her tears from falling too

The nurses all left the room and left just Helsi and Lusi


"Do you want to check?" Helsi asked again

"I have to prove them wrong" Lusi stood with all the courage she could summon, she turned to the cloth and walked straight to it

After taking in air several times, she opened it slightly from the head, then she completely opened it

And it was Paul

"Ohh Paul" She shouted

"Paul, please" She kept pushing him and pushing wishing that somehow he could wake up "Please don't do this to me Paul, please I need you" she held his top and rested her head on his chest after pushing him

Helsi stood close but not too close, she didn't want to do anything, it was difficult for her at that point and she didn't know exactly what to do

"Paul, it's Lusi hey?" Lusi kept taping him and after several trial, she gave him a slap to his face "Wake up Paul, don't let me do that again"

Helsi then rushed to her "Hey"

"He is…" she gasped for air "He is just sleeping and I need to wake him up"
