The Phone Call


Helsi's POV


Helsi woke up staring at the roof then to the windows in despair and after few minutes Lusi came in to see how she had been doing especially after last night

"Boss lady" Lusi smiled immediately she opened the door, she wasn't sure Helsi was awake

"Hey" Helsi said

"Can I come in?" Lusi asked

Helsi looked at her properly then a laughter followed "Are you kidding me?" she found it really funny and continuously hit her bed with her hands

"No, stay there" Helsi responded

"You must be out of your mind" Lusi followed in the laughter, she opened the door widely to enter

"Why didn't you stay there?" Helsi asked with a smile

"The reason being the fact that I'm not scared of you" Lusi responded

"Well… you should, I could ruin your life"

"Tell me how?" Lusi asked

"By eating your food" Helsi laughed

"What… ?" Lusi laughed

She walked straight to her and gave her a really tight hug

"I'm glad you feel better" Lusi said

"Thanks" Helsi smiled

(Phone beeps)

It was from her lawyer, she just received the necessary documents she needed

"From the judge" Helsi said looking at her cell phone

"What does it say?" Lusi asked coming closer

"It says that the case on Racheal had been adjourned because I am needed but I can't partake of it because of my pregnancy and…" she stopped

"What?" Lusi asked

Helsi turned to Lusi "Tom is out of jail for that same reason for the meantime" she stood up

"This bad… he is going to come after me especially now that he is fully aware that I carry his child" Helsi's heart began to pound

"What are you going to do about it?" Lusi asked

"I honestly don't know at this point but one thing I know is that I'm not going back to him… that house"

"Well you don't have to" Lusi responded

Helsi went back to sit on the bed, then turned to face Lusi "What do I do?"

"I only have one suggestion, it might not sit well with you but I think it's the best solution to this"

"Go on with it, as far as it solves something" Helsi said

"Could you stay with Mardrigo?"

Helsi opened her mouth wide open "What?"

"I know… I know, but staying here" Lusi sighed "I can't completely protect you from Tom, but when you stay with Mardrigo and you know he loves you right?"

"I know" Helsi responded

"So he won't let anything hurt you or anyone" Lusi expressed that statement with her hands dancing in the thin air

"Alright" Helsi gave a not so sure about this look

"You won't regret this, it's a promise" Lusi said

"OK, does he know about it?" Helsi asked

"How the hell is he going to know already? We just read the letter now and brought up the suggestion" Lusi laughed

"Hey" Helsi pointed at her "Respect yourself" she laughed too

"Alright, I would head down now to make a phone call" Lusi stood up

"To Mardrigo?" Helsi suspected

"Yes darling, I have to let him know now, so that you can go as fast as possible" Lusi said as she walked out of the room

"Alright" Helsi agreed


Lusi's POV

I knew Tom very well, he had come over to the house several times in the past, seeking Helsi when she ran off to her place and if she wasn't produced, he would make a mess

This frightened me, so sending her off to Mardrigo was at least a step farther from Tom's violent act

Lusi picked her cell phone which she kept on the sofa in the living room, then dailed Mardrigo's phone number

"Hey" She said immediately he picked his phone call

"Hey dear, how are you doing?" he asked over the phone

"I'm good but at the same time not so good" Lusi said

"What's wrong?"

"Tom is out of jail" Lusi went straight to the point

"Out of jail? How?"

"Not breaking out of jail, I mean the case was adjourned so Tom had to be free but for the mean time, that would be after Helsi's pregnancy" She said

"Oh wow, would that be good for Helsi?" He asked

"And that's the point and reason why I called you" Lusi gave a deep sigh

"What do I have to do?"

"Helsi staying with you would be safe for her and I know that you would do a good job protecting her"

"Does she know about this decision?"

"I discussed it with her before calling you"

"OK" he replied

"She can come?" Lusi gave a squeezing sound like that of a rat

"Don't destroy my ear drum please?" Mardrigo laughed over the phone

"Yeah, she can but I'm at work at the moment not at home so she would have to wait until I get back"

"OK, no problem"

"Yeah, so when I'm done, I would come pick her up"

"Thank you very much, you are a life saver" Lusi said and ended the call

Few seconds after the call, Helsi ran down to Lusi

"Slow down babe, you have a baby" Lusi said to her

"I…" she kept panting like she had run a marathon race

"Calm down"

"Yeah, so I have a good news" Helsi smiled

"Tom is dead?" Lusi smiled

Helsi looked at her with a straight face for a few seconds then laughed "Jezz Lusi, not that but that would actually be relieving"

"Of course it will, so go on with the good news that got you running"

"I just spoke with Jude"

"Ohh" Lusi's facial expressions changed

"And i told him about everything that had happened and funny enough he said he was coming here in a week so" Helsi smiled

"So?" Lusi looked

"So he said I can come stay with him, and he promised to take care of me, never allowing Tom near me"

"And you believe him?"

"Yes I do, I would just stay with…. Have you spoken to Mardrigo?" Helsi asked

"Yes I did, and he said he would come pick you up after his work today to take you to his place"

"Good, so I would go over to his and stay for the meantime and when Jude comes, I would move to his"

"Why do you keep hurting him?

"Hurting who? " Helsi asked
