Chapter 7-She Is No Longer His
She Is No Longer His
(Phone Rings)
Helsi woke up, sweat dripping all over her body as if she had been dipped into water.
"Ohh mum" Helsi cried out, ignoring the disturbing phone call "Mum.." she wished she wasn't interrupted in her dream by the call "Who were those men?" she paused in realisation that she never saw them again after that night "Who??" She stood up, ran to her journal and wrote her dream down. She needed to tell her private investigator, she was glad she could remember some things to trace the murderer but sad that they died this way.
She wished she had more, then once again the call…
"Who the hell!" she said as she stared at the unknown number
She hesitated a little still and refused to pick the call
It wasn't long after four missed calls from the unknown call, Lusi called
"What the hell Helsi" Lusi slammed Helsi
"You just called and you are interrogating me already, what's wrong?" Helsi sounded sad
"Is everything OK?" Lusi sensed the unusual tone from Helsi
"Yes I am, just one of those dreams"
"About them?" Lusi knew, Helsi had always had nightmare about her parents when she was a little girl and stayed with them as Lusi's mum took her and her sister in
"Yes, I would send the details of it to my private investigator, what's happening at your end?" Helsi asked
"Well… I am good, I initially called to ask why you don't want to talk to Butrico Santrima?" Lusi went straight to the point
"I don't get" Helsi asked confused
"Butrico Santrima told me that you are not taking his calls, but you can take your time. I would tell him to give you some space" Lusi replied
"Ohh, was he the one calling?, how did he get" Helsi was interrupted
"I gave it to him" Lusi said almost immediately "Take a rest Helsi, we would talk further later, and don't forget, I am always here if you need me" Lusi added
"How would I forget such" Helsi inhaled deeply "Thanks Lusi, I honestly don't know what I would do without you"
Tom's POV
Tom stopped by Helsi's room on his way down to the morning meal. He paused outside her door, debating what to do. It was unlike him to be so indecisive, and yet, he'd found their conversation about Racheal disconcerting. It suddenly became inappropriate for him to be in her bedchamber.
Besides all that, he'd dreamed of her. That troubled him more than it ought to. In his dream, things he'd purposefully ignored about her last night, had come back to him vividly.
The softness of her skin, her warm scent, the way her pulse had raced beneath his fingers. That moment he'd touched her hung suspended in his dream, allowing him to explore every nuance of her until he'd forced himself awake, disgusted.
She was no longer his, and meant for another man. He had such confidence that she must have signed the divorce document.
He had no business even thinking about her in such a manner. Now that he was in a foul mood, thanks to her, the last thing he wanted to do was face her again...He had his own duty...
"Is everything OK?" Racheal asked seated directly opposite the bed
"Yes… yes, just a nightmare" Tom responded
Nancy's POV
"You don't have to call me before coming over sis"
"I respect your privacy" Helsi said over the phone " I would be there in 10 minutes"
"OK" Nancy hung up, going to prepare for her sister's visit
She came just as she had promised
"Ohh, how I've missed you Nancy" Helsi hugged her so tight
"I've missed you too" Nancy said almost crying
"I am worried though" Helsi touched Nancy's chin looking deep into her eyes
"Worried about what?"
"I am not comfortable with you living here" Helsi looked around
"And?" Nancy asked a rather rhetorical question
"How about you move in with me to my place"
"Tom's place?" Nancy was getting irritated, she never wanted to see Tom alive, it's either he is dead or he is not alive when she eventually get where he is
"No.. Not his, my place" Helsi said
"What's wrong with my place?" Nancy asked
"Very desolate, after that man I saw a thousand miles, I never saw anybody again. You need to stay around people not this hidden place, for security purpose" Helsi could go on
"I don't think that's a good idea" Nancy sighed
"Why not?, I am willing to put up some bodyguard for you at my place, at least it's safe there"
"Bodyguard? You're kidding right?" Nancy laughed
"Do I look like I am?"
"I can't, I have spent my whole life here, you can't just bump in and tell me what to do" Nancy smiled "I am not a child, can we not spoil the moment and have a few drinks or rather… get drunk" Nancy laughed
"You've changed, so grown and stubborn"
"What?" Nancy laughed even more "Cheers" she raised her glass of wine "To life Without Tom"
"To life Without Tom" Helsi cheered and laughed as she sips her wine
"I am so happy for you Helsi, honestly nothing feels better, I would stop by at work to see you before heading to see Josh"
"He stays close by?" Helsi asked
"Yes he does" she blushed
"Hmm, someone is in love" Helsi smiled
"With a noble guy" Nancy made that point out
"I heard marriage turns two lovers to haters" Helsi said
"Hmmm, deep," Nancy stood to pour some more wine into her glass
"Of course, Love is a deadly thread to dread on, just be careful sweetheart" Hesli motioned for her to add some wine for her too
"Yes boss, I will" Nancy blew a kiss
"It's time for me to go" Helsi stood up as she has always done, work always stealing her time with friends and family "I need to attend to something"
"So soon" Nancy groaned "We aren't even drunk yet, please stay a little longer" she pleaded
"I promise, I will be back as soon as I can"
"If you say so" Nancy dolled her eyes
"What?, it's a promise" Helsi opened her arms wide
"I know, you just never keep your promise especially about going to see someone"
"I will this time around, I promise. In fact I would come spend the night with you tonight" Helsi said
"Yes!!" Nancy shouted in excitement "I would come pick you up, nobody else… not your driver, it's just me and you tonight"
"I miss those days" Helsi smiled
"I would see you soon" Nancy went for a hug
"OK, you have to let me go, your hugs are always so tight" Helsi struggled for air
"It's because I love you" Nancy finally let go
"And I love you too"
