The Long Awaited Test Result


Helsi's POV

I followed him as he went to the test room to check on me

"I need you to open your hands wide open" he said, he had noticed how she closed her arms around her stomach

"I'm having slight stomach pain" Helsi said as she removed her hands

"OK, that's why I need you to let me know what is wrong with you"

"OK" She responded with a quick obedience

She kept her hands high, the pain was excruciating as if she had knives in it

He asked Helsi to turn several times, which was getting on her nerves

"Doc, please can you do this test without all this stress?"

"Not if you want to get a good result" The Doctor said as he looked at the insulator there

"Serving people would actually fit you" Helsi thought to herself about the Doctor


"When was the last time you saw Tom?" he asked

"I've not seen him for about a month or more than a month, why do you ask?"

"I'm asking because I want to know the last time you had sex" he said

She hesitated for a while and couldn't find her words

"Huh?" he asked again

"I had sex two days ago" She finally admits

"Ok" he wasn't surprised at that, because that's what he obviously noticed

"Alright, just hang around for some time before the test reset ready

Helsi stood up, adjusted her pretty gown then left the office

A very nice bar was around the corner, she goes there when she sees her Doctor

" Welcome, it's been a long time " the bartender said as he welcomed her

"Don't you wish me good?"

"What do you mean?" he asked

"I come around when I have an appointment with the Doctor about an illness" Helsi responded


"Ohh no, I don't but you don't have to wait till you have an appointment with your Doctor before coming around" he said, shaking a drink

"Give me that" she said pointing to a drink

"Not your regular?"

"That was what got me into trouble, regular intake of it wasn't a good idea" Helsi said

"Alright… let's go for a change" he stretched his hands to the drink then handed it over to Helsi

"Thank you" she thanked him

She tried all she could but it still grew stronger… the pain

"Arghh!" she screamed, her hands ran to the glass close to her

"Is everything OK ma'am?"

"This is why I am here" She cried, touching her lower abdomen

"I'm so sorry, is there anything I can help you with?" he lowered his head to hear her because her words fought their ways out of her cry

"No thanks, I just need" she got interrupted by her phone's notification "I guess the test result is ready" she smiled, but soon the smile was gone, she stood slowly and carefully to a particular position

"Take care of yourself, I'm just a bar away if you need anything" he threw a smile

"Thanks" she chuckled

She made her way back to the clinic, her heart raced, she could only pray it wasn't something complicated because the pain is excruciating

"The result is ready" The Doctor smiled then frowned his face

"What is going on, can I see what the hell is causing me pains?" she was running out of patience

"Yes you can" he stretched his hands towards her to give her

Helsi couldn't get hold of the Doctor's facial expressions, giving mixed signals. She collected it quick, almost tore it

"Whose result is this?" she didn't like what she saw

"It yours" he points to her

"Wait…" she stood up "Hold on, let me get this straight" her hands ran through her hair, she was confused. She didn't know if she should be happy, sad or angry

Now she understands the mixed emotions from the Doctor before he handed the result to her

"I'm two months pregnant?" she asked

"Yes, you've been carrying a child in you for two months now"

"We used protection all the time, how did this happen? and happened at this point in time" She still couldn't believe she had been growing a child in her for two good months "

" It happens, is he the father? " The Doctor suspected Tom

" I don't know but I hope he is not the one "

" He might change if you give him a second chance to prove that he would be a great dad"


"Someone that handed the divorce file to me himself, he has already proven himself unworthy to be a father" Helsi scuffed

"It's not easy to raise a child alone"

"Yeah I know, but I know that I can do it, I'm going to protect…" she stopped then looked at the doctor

"A boy or a girl?" she asked

"You are just two months gone, give yourself some time to know that"

"OK Doctor, thank you very much and I have to show my lawyer this" she sighed and rolled her eyes

"For the divorce?"

"Erhm, for something more critical than that" she said

"Alright, just make sure that you don't work yourself out" he smiled

"I won't" she stood, this time the pain was there but she didn't feel it, like her brain played some tricks on her

She walked to her car, she sat in her car for about a minute, processing what had just happened, looking at the test results several times

"Is this real? Me pregnant, how?" she kept asking herself

After several minutes of processing everything, she finally starts her car to drive home
