What The Record Says

Helsi's POV

After listening to the voice note, Helsi fell on her bed with her back… yes to her bed not the floor, she have a baby in her, she couldn't risk that

She shouted "No!!"

She started crying profusely, but still held the phone tight to her chest

After several shouts, Butrico woke up and rushed to her room

"Hey, what's wrong?" he still looked like he was still feeling sleepy

"I'm sorry if I woke you up" she said but she was glad that he came in

"No… no, it's fine" he went closer to her, on the bed to hold her "What's wrong?" he asked again

"Alright, I… I mean, we went to see Ava today because she lost her mum right?" she just paused to take in some air, not to be interrupted

"Yeah" but he did interrupted

"Me and Lusi went over to send our condolences to her, right? So she welcomed us like she should, we gave the flower we brought for her mum, there were much" she smiled

"Her mum was a really good person, people really turned out for her you know…" she looked at Butrico and smiled "Am I a good person?"

"Yes you are, why did you ask?"

"I don't know" tears rolled down her smiling cheek "Everyone and everything seems to be against me, so I don't know" she lowered her head as more tears rushed down her cheek

"Hey" he held her and touched her face, wiping the tears off

"You are the most amazing and strong woman I've seen, you have a very big heart, they must be blind not to see it" Butrico made a fixed eye contact with her

At this point, he felt the universe had answered his long term prayer, he leaned in closer to kiss her

"This is what I listened to from my sister" Helsi stood from the bed to get the voice record from the table across

Butrico felt that was awkward, and he shouldn't have tried to even kiss her

"Here" Helsi gave him the phone, she stood because she did not want to give him the feeling that she likes him, she just acts really clingy during her sad days

"Ohh" Butrico collected it from her and located the voice record, then played it

He was shocked at what her sister said but a part of him felt relieved that they had gotten a step closer to unveiling this case

"This is good news right?" Butrico gave a confused smile

"No, this is really driving me crazy" she shattered her already arranged hair and walked to the sofa next to the bed

"Al least, we know who is responsible, we can show this to the police as evidence" Butrico said

"We can't" Helsi said almost like a whisper

"Why?"

"We can't because I don't know what to believe anymore"

"What do you mean? How did Ava get this tape to begin with?"

"She said that she was coming back from the market, then she saw my sister running away from a building and then… she handed the phone to her, telling her to give it to just me and nobody else"

"And you believed her?" Butrico asked

"Believed who exactly, Ava or my sister?"

"I mean Ava, is seems too good to be true, I think she has a hand in this"

"Ohh God, let me run crazy already"

"At least we have something to hold against Mardrigo and Ava" he said

But he saw in her face that there was more


"Tell me, what's the problem?" he asked

"I spoke with Mardrigo last three days I think, she touched her neck"

"Why?" he asked

"He told me that he knew who was responsible for her kidnap and we would only tell me in person, so we fixed a time and location for that"

"OK?" he wanted her to go on

"And at the meeting, he told me that he wasn't involved in her kidnap but my husband was and that he was just the messenger so my sister saying Mardrigo was the masterpiece behind it and that he did all that to take over the company is really difficult here"

"Woah, he told you that he wasn't involved in all these?" Butrico asked

"Yes, so we have three suspects, Tom, Mardrigo and Ava which is less likely possible as to regards to the last name"

"Yeah, and I think we should just leave it to the police, what about your private investigator?" he asked

"That's a good point, a really good point"

"Yeah, giving him all this evidence and discussing what we know about this can save us some stress and prevents us from running crazy"

"I just feel like, if I'm not involved then nothing happens and that doesn't make sense"

"It helps your mental health"

"Yeah, I get your point and I don't even carry everything I want to like that of my parents, I just have my sister's incident with me not even Racheal, so…"

"Yeah, I know but I think it's stressing you out, you have a baby and I don't want you stressing yourself all the time" Butrico replied

"Thanks" she replied

He sure knows how to flatter a lady


"So would you call and let him know about everything?"

"Yes I will" Helsi replied going to her phone

She needed to set a time and place for them to see, but she did not disclose where she was to him because she knew Tom could trace it to where she is

"Thank you Butrico, really am grateful" Her way of saying that she want to be alone

"Anytime" He stood from the bed and walked out of the room

But before he left "If you need anything, don't hesitate to let me know, I would be downstairs preparing dinner and I would let you know when it's ready"

"Alright, and I would let you know if I need anything" Helsi smiled

Helsi didn't fall for his tricks, she felt that he just wanted to get her attention at that moment, that was how Tom was, he would cook for her during their courtship and he would take her out all the time then… he became someone else when he married her, she felt like he had been using her and she was foolish to fall for his useless words


"Ohh, how naive I was" she kept saying that to herself when she remembers that her emotions were deep into it because of his words which would make it difficult for other men to access her heart easily like Tom did but is locked out now
