How Foolish He Was!

Helsi's POV


I heard footsteps coming close to my door, he tried to open the door, but it was locked, he only tried once and went away, it was unlike Butrico to just check once and walk away

She thought he was in one of those days where we all want to be alone, she continued doing what she was doing

Then in few seconds she saw two men, they were murmuring, then a heavy knock landed on the door again

Fear grabbed her, she prayed it was not Tom because she wasn't going to follow him no matter what he do


It was that moment that she valued the fact that she closes her door when she is in, except for emergencies

She stood and walked to the door

"Butrico?" she called out as she rested her hands on the door knob

"Yes, please open up" Butrico said

The murmuring continued, she wondered who he was with

After taking in some air, she opened the door but real slow to see the person he was with and to her greatest surprise, she saw Jude standing next to him

"Erhm, Jude?" she was shocked

So was Jude shocked

"What are you doing here?" Jude kept his bag on the floor, he looked at her then to Butrico

And after her long silence, he went downstairs

"What is going on here?" Helsi faced Butrico

"I don't know as well but all I know is that he is my brother"

"Your brother? Was that why you knocked at my door? To introduce me to your brother?"

"I" he wanted to say something

"Why did you tell me that Jude was your brother? You knew about it huh? That was why you didn't tell me who you were going to pick, right?"

"I did not know anything Helsi, would you calm down" Butrico raised his voice

He had never raised his voice at her, she was shocked

After giving him a shocking looks, she went downstairs to meet Jude who already seemed upset

"Hey wait, I'm sorry" Butrico tried to stop her but he couldn't succeed in doing such

He followed her downstairs

Jude was already taking his things back to the car

"Jude!" Helsi called out for him to stop

Jude turned to her in shock and anger "So you've been sleeping with my brother? How long huh?"

"Would you listen to me? I did not sleep with anybody Jude, I won't do that to you" Helsi said

"What are you doing here?"

That was the question she was running away from, she wanted to gradually tell him about her marriage with Tom

"I was in danger, I had nowhere to go to"

"Danger from who?" Jude asked at the top of her voice

"Her ex-husband" Butrico said at the left corner of the room which directed both their attention to him

"Ex what?" Jude asked again

"Haven't you noticed that she is pregnant?" Butrico said, he knew exactly what he was doing

Helsi felt so much range for Butrico, and wondered why he wouldn't mind his damn business

Jude turned to Helsi then his eyes travelled to her stomach "You are pregnant?"

"I'm 5 months pregnant Jude for my ex-husband but I promise you that we are no longer together" tears began rolling down her cheeks

"Oh My, how did I not see this coming? Why was I this foolish?" he walked backwards as he hands ran through his hair

"I really…" she went closer "I was going to tell you, I'm really sorry" she kept crying

"Would you tell her or I should myself?" Butrico said to Jude

"Go on" Jude shouted

"He is married too, he has kids and in fact if you were going to accept then you would be his sixth wife" Butrico walked to Helsi

"What?" she looked at Jude with tears on her face

"It's true" he said without emotions

"So it wasn't true, when you told me you love me, you were just messing with my feelings?" she said with a shaking voice as tears rolled down her cheek

"At last, mine is not as formidable as yours" Jude said at the top of his voice

"Enough Jude" Butrico said at the top of his voice pointing at him

"And of all houses or place you choose my brother's home huh?" he turned to Helsi

"I was hiding from my ex-husband Tom and only Butrico understand that" the tears was gone

"You can leave if you choose to" she added

The audacity!

"What did you just say?" Jude went closer

"Enough, I would need you to leave please" Butrico came in between

"Are you chasing me away?" Jude turned to his brother

"No I'm not, you are just being so unreasonable right now, you are married and so she is in fact she is not longer married because he filed a divorce so you are very much guilty here"

"I wonder why he filed a divorce," he looked at Helsi then looked at her stomach then back to Butrico

"I need my bag upstairs, I'm leaving" Jude said

A part of Helsi wanted to beg him to stay or for her to apologise but she did not, she just stood there trying hard to suppress her tears

"Alright, I would bring it for you" Butrico went upstairs to get the bag

"I trusted you" Jude said to Helsi

"I did the same to you too" She responded

Jude scuffed as he grind his teeth really hard against each other

Butrico brought the bag down for him, then handed it over to him

"I can book a hotel for you to at least spend the night and rest"

"Like you care" Jude responded and went further to collect his bag from him

"Where are you heading now? I can drive you there" Butrico asked

"None of your fucking business" Jude said harshly to him

"Alright then, suit yourself" Butrico said to him

Helsi just stood there quiet, she didn't know what to say, she just know that she was dying inside but couldn't show it

Jude turned to her for the last time, then turned to the door and left
