Chapter 39 - At Your Service
At Your Service
Lusi's POV
"Have a goodnight ma'am" Saila responded to her, throwing the most dirty looks at Lusi as ever
Lusi saw them, those irritating dirty looks but she scoffed and rolled her eyes
"Let's leave this place" Lusi said to her mum beneath her breath
"Hold on" Lusi's mum stopped and turned looking around for her daughter
"Please mum" Lusi cried out "You are very drunk, can we just focus on that? Not you adding more frustration please" Lusi stamps her feet in frustration "I'm really tired, can we talk about this when we get home?"
"Can we just get your sister?" Her mum cried
"She's in the car mum" she lied, she hated it when her mum get so drunk, she always bring the memories of her younger sister
"Are you sure about that? I saw blood stains everywhere"
"Rose!!!" Lusi hates calling her mum by her name "Let's get to the car please" She said at the top of her voice
"It's late please, let's not do this" she added
Saila watched from the window, she wailed in pity for her, for she had been through alot, from the death of her second child to the divorce paper her husband slammed to her face
Her only companion when her world was falling apart was her wine, she fell in love with it, was lost in it
Marriages are like modern games, we play around and walk away
"So sad" Saila said finally before going in to take care of the mess lying around in her home
Lusi finally succeeded in taking her mum to the car, turned on the car to take off
The drive was surprisingly quiet for some time which scared Lusi
"Mum…" She taps her "Open your eyes mum, is everything Ok?" she struggled with driving and tapping her mum
"I'm fine please, don't touch me" she said in a rather deem voice
"Phew thank goodness, someone is back to reality" Lusi said with a smile "That's why I don't like you going at her place, she knows your weakness, your wine and this-" she was interrupted
"Please just drive, I don't need any of your talks right now" Lusi mum said as she threw her hands In the air, giving a frown
"You should see yourself" Lusi laughter pointing at her mum while her left hand rested on the steers
Hot tears ran through Mrs Rose cheek, she used her hands to wipe it off quickly, she seemed lost in thought perhaps another phase of her drunkenness
Lusi saw this and gave a deep sigh "Why the tears?, see we are almost home"
"I want my baby back" She said
"She's gone mum and bringing her up all the time won't change shit about what had happened" Lusi's patience was slowly turning to anger
"I would send you back" she added
"To where?" Mrs Rose sat on her back, this got her attention
"You know what am talking about" Lusi said with a frown
"You won't do that young lady" she grinned her teeth
"We're home, let's go in" Lusi said
Lusi's mum was shocked at the attitude Lusi just gave "Just imagine" she said to herself with a mocking laughter
"Hurry please" Lusi said as soon as she got down from the car
Helsi's POV
Helsi left to see her lawyer, the route is always lonely which makes it so perfect for hoodlums to fulfil their mission, but it's just a matter of time before they get caught
Helsi drove really fast, didn't have time for the jerks on the way
"Goddammit!!!" she slammed her steers and came out
"This is bad, how did I not see this on time?" She said to herself as she watched her punctured tires lying helplessly
She went back to the car to bring out her pumping machine to do the job herself, she knew that the next mechanic was miles away and it was not going to survive that
With deep sigh, she turn to look around the road, to see what caused a hole their "I need to leave this place" she lowered her back to adjust the mouth of the machine on her tires
She stood there for about five minutes, waiting for the tires to get strong enough for her to drive
Helsi quickly throw the machine inside her car and turned to the other side of the cad to go in
"Phew" her heart raced, she was scared of the danger zone that she was, her emotions heightened, she now has a baby to worry about even though she wouldn't have cared if she was alone standing there
She saw him from afar, taking a sip of coffee from his untamed glass surrounding his living room
"Hey" she called out but to herself with a horn as soon as she got closer
"Ahan" He came out with a smile
"My tires messed me up few seconds ago" Helsi gave a sigh of relief "I'm glad that I am still in one piece though " she said laughing after coming out of her car
"That's really important" He laughed "Coming through in one piece" he motioned for her to get in
"Thank you"
"So I would be expecting some details that you've gotten from the crime scene" Helsi added
"Yes I do, and I was hoping that you came with your gun… specifically the one used that day" he went for his soft sofa, Helsi did same
"Alright" Her hands ran through her bag, she brought out the gun tied in a polythene bag and also brought out the test result
"What's this?" he asked looking strangely at the paper Helsi had just handed over to him, after scanning through the paper, he raised his head to Helsi "What's this" he asked again
"Go through it already" she raised her arms and brows "I wouldn't give it to you if it wasn't important"
"OK" he kept the neatly packaged gun at the left corner of the table close to him, he then turned to the paper to open it
