This Would Buy Us Some Time


Helsi's POV


My drive was the best ever, I felt every moment and after a very long time, I felt happy, it was wierd but it was there. I would make sure that Tom doesn't come anywhere near my child

"Never!" she said out loud to herself, then her hands ran through her hair

She was too excited to share the news with Lusi as soon as she gets home

"Hey, what are you doing outside?" Helsi asked as she drove in properly

"You came back so soon" Lusi said as she bent to carry her favorite video tape which fell on her way in from the market

"That was fast though" She added

"Do you want me to sleep at the clinic?" Helsi asked and walked into the house

"I would be in in no time darling" Lusi said


Helsi had considered leaving Lusi's place frkm the very beginning, she felt like a burden to her even though she was proved wrong by her several times. She had plans to move out of the country when Tom rubbed the divorce file to her face before her sister was kidnapped and this really wrecked her plans

"Hey Butrico" Helsi ran to give him a hug "Where have you been?"

He kept his glass of wine and opened his arms wide for a hug "I needed to attend to something and I was told that you went to the clinic for check-up?" he said more like a question

"Yes, I already told you guys before now" Helsi kept smiling

"I guess the result was good, it radiates from your smile" Butrico smiled too

"You don't look so good, What's wrong?"


"What do you mean?" he adjusted his face, didn't want to leave a clue about the misunderstanding he had with his brother

"I can see it written all over your face" she turned to the glass of wine he kept next to him "You don't drink that unless there is something wrong, bothering you"

"Alright" he smiled and blinked his eyes several times "You got me there"

"So, what's wrong?" She asked

"Erhm, I want to ask you something, I just want you to be completely honest with me" he lowered his voice

"OK…" she tightened her eye balls and gave a big sigh

"Hey darling" Joy called out to Helsi immediately she saw her

"Hey" Helsi smiled and ran to her coming down from her room "and we have a full house yeah"

"How was the test result?" Joy asked

"I guess I was the only one who didn't hear about the check-up" Butrico said from the dinning table

"So where were we?" Lusi entered into the house, she saw them sitting like they were talking about something "What did I miss?" she looked at every one of them

"She was just about to tell us how the test went" Joy said

It was at that moment that Paul came in with some baskets of vegetables

"Helsi" he looked at her

"Hi" she walked towards him, stretching her hands for a shake

"Lusi is not a good person, we went to the market but she left me with all these load" He smiled

"You are a good man Paul" Butrico said smiling behind the sofa Lusi sat on

"Yes you are" Helsi laughed as she went further to help him carry some vegetables

"Thanks" he went to the kitchen to drop them and then walked to his room "I have a client on my neck, I need to attend to him now" he told everyone

"Alright sweetheart" Lusi replied

Lusi ran to Helsi immediately she was sure Paul was already in the room

"Where is the test result" he eyes scan through her body to get it herself "Ha!!!" she dragged it out of her bag and went few steps away from her to read it

Funny enough, Helsi remained calm and wasn't chasing her over the paper

"Alright" she stood and clrars her throat as she found her way through the paper

"Read it out already" Joy stood to go close to her
"Or I will"

"Is that a threat?" Lusi put the paper around her waist as she stared at Joy

"You guys" Helsi laughed "I'm pregnant" she spit it out

Butrico turned to her like she stabbed him "Are you joking?" he felt shattered

"See it for yourself" she pointed to the paper

"It's true" Lusi and Joy said almost at the same time Ans they opened their mouth wide open

"Two months" Lusi screamed "Tom or Jude?"

"It's obviously Tom" Helsi responded

"Should we be happy or..?" Joy asked

"I don't know" Helsi groaned "My life just keep getting Wierd and full of constant surprises"

Butrico was speechless, he couldn't say anything, he walked out of the living room and went outside

"Hey what's wrong?" Joy asked Butrico "Where are you going to?"

"I just want some air" he said in a rather calm tone

"He wanted to discuss something with me earlier" Helsi said

"He likes you and you know it" Lusi pointed out

"We've cleared the air on that" Helsi's smile slowly faded away

Helsi stood up to go outside

"Just give him some time then talk to him later"

"OK" she went back to sit

"I need to discuss this with my lawyer"

"Yes you should" Joy replied

"And this would buy us some time"

"Your pregnancy?"

"Yes, the case might be adjourned" Helsi said

"Of course it will"

"Alright girls, I need to go pick my mum before she gets drunk enough to get her arrested" Lusi said

"This late?"

"Yes, I can't let her sleep there, don't you remember what happened the last time she got drunk there?" Lusi murmured

"Oh yeah I do, those guys are so inhuman and terrible"

"I already prepared dinner" Lusi said pointing towards the kitchen

"Thanks darling" Helsi sighed "I've literally not eaten anything today"

"He gave you something for your constant stomach pain?"

"The Doctor?, yeah he did… he did"

"Alright, I would just let my husband know that I'm heading out for mama" Lusi snapped her hand
