Chapter Twenty Six

Vale was not going to let me go so easily. He was gong to try to make me bed to his will before he'd let me out.

I stopped hitting the door. I looked around the room and noticed a widow. If I want to get away from here I needed to escape.

I opened the window and looked out, it wasn't so high for me to jump form and so I opened it gradually and quietly. I climbed the window and tiptoed till I got to an open space.

There was no one in sight.


"I had to get out of here before he caught me"

I ran through the open space got out of the gate. It was very late, I tried stopping a taxi but none agreed to stop.

So I decided to walk. I couldn't make any calls because Vale had taken my bag which contained my phone. I didn't even recognize this place.

I kept walking with hope to find help. I continued walking and then I heard a voice say stop. I was so scared that Vale and his men had found me.


"Please let me go" I cried but when I turned my back I saw someone else. It wasn't vale but the mystery man. I was annoyed.

"What did he want?"


"What do you want from me?"


And he laughed.

"What is funny?"

"From the look of things you are the one that needs something for me. You look like someone is chasing you"

At this point it was better he took me than for vale to meet up with me. I needed to be safe and going with this mystery man was the best idea.


"Yes someone is after me and I need to get out of here before he meets up with me"


"Thought as much"

"He's so proud" I muttered


"What did you say?"


"Nothing"


He dialed a number on his phone and a car came to a halt in front of us in few seconds.


"Come in I'll take you somewhere safe"


"Yes .. thank you"

I entered the car and he did too, then his friend drove the car.


"Did you steal?"

I was annoyed and embarrassed by that question. This was the second time he was embarrassing me.

"No I didn't.. I'm not a thief. They why is someone chasing you?"

"I have no idea.. he wants to hurt me?"


"There is a siren around her" his friend said


"Yeah the ring is blinking green."

"Take her to my house and make sure she is comfortable. Then come back and Jon me here" mystery man said and got down from the car.


"What were they? Why were they so interested in a siren? Do sirens live on land?"


Too many questions I wanted to ask but I just kept mute. I just wanted to be safe. Sage from Vale.


I was worried about Laurie. I hoped she was fine.

We got to his house and I must confess, it was one of the biggest houses I had seen since I came to the city. I was taken into the house and taken to a room. The interiors of the house where so beautiful and I hadn't stayed for long here but I wanted to stay for a long time.

The room I was taken to had a white decor .


"Please make yirselfbcomfortbake. I'll tell the cook to make you something to eat" his friend said


"Thank you for saving me. But I don't even know your name and your friend's"


"I'm Jade and his Mar"


"What do you do with sirens?"


He was about to answer the call when his phone beeped. He looked at it and cursed.


"Shit.. I have to go now"


"Okay Jade" and then he left.


I went into the shower and washed off dirt from my skin. After I showered, there was nothing for me to change into, I checked the wardrobe and found a robe which I put on.

I sat by the edge of the bed and then laid on my back. I was thinking of how to reach Laurie and how vale had deceived me.

I had to get myself out of this. I could swear that was not the contract I signed. I had to find the one I signed. That contract he presented to me indicated I was slaving him. I couldn't go home, he'd find me at home and even at work.

I might loose my job now.


The knock on the door got me out of my thoughts and so I went to open it. And the cook came in with a tray of food.

Jade had said he was going to ask her to make me food. I had completely forgotten. I ate up everything, I was so hungry.


I wanted to wait up for them to get home but I didn't know when I slept off.



I didn't know how long I had slept, but the sun rays shining on my face indicated it was morning already. I stood up and checked the time it was 10 am already.

"I'm late"

I quickly rushed and out on my dress and rushed out of the room. I ran through the leaving room and then mystery man stopped me.


"Do you always run from people's houses like this?"

I was offended by that but I didn't show it.

"I need to be at work this morning and I'm late already"

"What of the man who wants to harm you?"

I could nit answer him. Vale was still out there and I knew he would not stop until he gets me.

"Why is he really after you?"

"I wish I could tell you all of this right now but I'm late for work"

"Fine I'll send my driver to drop you off at home"

"Thank you Mar" I said and I could see the shock on his face. He was surprised I knew his name.


The driver dropped me off at home. The moment I got inside Laurie screamed and hugged me.

"Where have you been? I was going to go to report to the police today"

"It's Vale"


"What happened to Vale"

"He is after me. He has been using me. Now he wants me to make money for him"


"Bastard.. I knew it"


"You can't go to work you know that right?"

"I have to inform Rosie so she'd cover up for me. I don't want to be without a job, not now I realized Vale has been making money off me"


"I'll go with you then."

Laurie was right.. I needed to stay low. But I still wanted to keep my job.

We got to the office and I met with Rosie.


"What happened to you? I've tried calling you all morning"


"It's a long story"


Rosie handed a letter to me.


"The manager asked me to hand this over to you, he also asked me to inform him if you come around. Let me call him"

I sensed something.

"Don't call him please"

I opened the letter and found out that it was a sack letter. Vale had gotten to him. I handed the letter back to Rosie.


"What is happening Arya?"

"I promise to explain everything to you when I can, but just let him know I haven't come"

Laurie and I left, we went back home. Vale had taken the job he had helped me get.


The only person I wanted to go to see mute was mama. I wanted her to comfort me and tell me everything is going to be alright. A year slopped out of my eyes and Laurie cleaned it.

She pulled me into her arms and gave me light pats.

"You will be fine."

I hoped she was right. I needed to be fine.
