Chapter Forty Five

I felt different right from the moment I woke up. Felt refreshed and full of life and I felt I should do something different today.

I got up and went down to the kitchen. I wanted to make breakfast for Mar today.
I met the cook trying to arrange the groceries she had just gotten.

"You should take a day off"

"I did that, yesterday ma'am. Sir would be very upset and I don't want to lose my job."

"And I promise you that your job will be intact. Take a day off, I'll take care of him today"

The cook didn't want to just leave but after much persuasion, she agreed to go.

She showed me where all the ingredients I needed were and then finally left.

It was so difficult convincing her. At one point, I wanted to call Mar to come to talk to her but that would ruin my chances of surprising him. But I was glad she finally agreed to leave.


I quickly arranged the groceries she had bought and then took out what I needed to prepare the breakfast.


I made French toast with banana pancakes and coffee. I made sure it was properly served on the dining table before going up to the room to wake him up.

When I got into the room he was still very much asleep and I admired how peaceful he looked. He was everything to me and I loved him so much.

I went over to his side and bent down to kiss him lightly but he turned his face and our lips collided. Then I started laughing.

"Naughty you, how did you know?"

"The moment you opened the door,  I knew what you wanted to do"

"I made you breakfast, come down to the dining"

He stood up and he was still naked. He wasn't shy at all. He walked around like was the only one in the room.

His strong abs and packs were very visible and I just wanted to rub my hands all around his body.

He put on a robe and we went down to the dining and then sat down.


"This tastes so good"

"Yeah... I'm a great cook."

"You momma thought you well"

I became uncomfortable with where the discussion was heading to. I and Mar had not talked about our families before and so I understood it was not his fault. He just didn't know.

"Mmmmh" I replied nonchalantly

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah... I am"

"It  didn't look like it... tell me what the problem is baby"

"I want a job"


I tried to change the topic.

"Is that all?"


"Yes... I'm tired of staying indoors every day while you go out and come back late almost every day"


"Don't let it bother you... I promise to do something about it."


We had breakfast and then went to the living room to watch television together and I forced him to watch a soap opera with me, he complained at the beginning but later agreed.


The movie had a lot of intense love scenes and that kinda affected us and we abandoned the movie and started making out.

"Mmmmh mmmh"

And we pulled apart to realize we had company. Jade and Mera had joined us.

"Get a room guys," Mera said and we all laughed.

"We got a call and it's from the headquarters, they want to have a peace talk with you," Jade said

"I'm not interested in any peace talk, I won't waste my time going to have a discussion with those betrayers and that's for you all to know"

I was lost and confused and didn't want to interfere in the conversation so I just kept mute.

Then, fortunately, I got a call and it was from Laurie. I quickly excused myself to talk to her while they discussed their issues. But I was curious to know how they had betrayed Mar and who the headquarters were.

I spent some minutes speaking with Laurie. When I ended the call I went upstairs and quickly took a shower. I put on a big polo and shorts. Then I went back to join them.

I walked into the living room and I saw a woman sitting so close to Mar. she sat so close and her hands were in on his thighs and she was massaging them while she spoke to him in hush tones.

When I entered, their concentration turned to me. There was no Mera or Jade.

"Where are Mera and Jade?" I asked and Mar told me they had gone.

I didn't feel so comfortable seeing the closeness between him and the woman, but he didn't feel affected by my presence, they both maintained the same position.


I noticed the hateful stares the woman was giving me but I chose to ignore them.

"I'll be up in my room then," I said and walked out and hoped that Mar would join me immediately but I waited for minutes and he didn't show up. I was so angry and I felt hurt but I couldn't do anything about it. I laid in bed thinking I needed some sort of distraction, but none came to my mind, and then sleep finally enveloped me.


I see that woman and she's pointing at me. And then her words begin to echo


It is not yet time for that my child"

"A true child of the sea born on land," she said and then let go of my hand.

"A child born of a forbidden union, vast away at birth and still ends in a forbidden union"

"True loyalty will be tested and your fate will be determined by the decision made"


I woke up screaming and panting. A part of me had wanted to let this go but the other part was curious to know what all the parables she said meant. I wasn't going back to see that old woman.
I think it's time for me to go and see mother Pamela again and then tell her what my meeting with the woman was like.

The knock on the door got me out of my thoughts.

"Come in" I shouted and Mera came in.


"Thought you and Jade left"

"He left but I didn't."

"Oh...." I wasn't happy and I didn't think there was a need to hide it.

"I'm sure you have met Claudia" Mera said

"Is that her name?"

"Yeah.. don't let her get to you. She was part of us before she left to join the headquarters and I don't know why Mar still keeps her around even though he dislikes them"


"Where they ever in a relationship?" I asked

"No... Everyone knows Claudia had feelings for Mar but she had never been his type"

"And what is his type?"

"You are... you're what he needs and I don't want you to doubt"

Mera kept convincing me that Claudia was no competition and I believed her. I'd always wanted to talk to Mera about her attraction to Jade.

The months I had spent here in this city had been enough to help me grow and learn a lot of things. I saw that she liked him a lot but I guess she was scared to tell him.

"I know you like him" I said to her

"Like who?"

"Jade ... and don't deny it. I see the way you look at him, does he know?"

"No he doesn't and I don't think I want to tell him"

"Why?"

"Because I'm scared of rejection.. and please can we not talk about this now.. let's go have a nice time at the pool"

I respected her wishes and I needed to do smothering fun and so Mera and I changed into bikini and went down to the pool for a swim.
