Chapter Ninety Six
MOLE'S POV
Arya and Jade's conversation made it very clear to me. Arya was the siren all along. I was going to see Mar to ask for some time off.
I heard loud voices of people shouting and when I got closer to the door, I realized it was coming from him and his woman. I heard their voices but I could not hear the words they were saying clearly and I wanted to know what the situation was without them finding out that I was present.
I gently opened the door and unfortunately for me, they did not notice. I could see them now and hear them as well.
"I was wondering if we could talk," she said but I ignored me completely
"Mar, I was hoping we could talk about the past few days," she said again and I got pissed
"There is absolutely nothing to talk about, you deceived me and that is it"
"No Mar. I didn't"
"You are a liar"
"I lost our baby"
"And that's perfect, I'm glad you didn't give birth to a child for me. Very glad"
I didn't care about the effect my words had on her. I felt she needed to know how I saw things.
"Why are you doing this to me? I never knew I was a siren till recently and I didn't know how to explain it to you"
"That's a lame excuse, Arya. You know what? You disgust me. And I don't want to see you again"
I heard footsteps coming towards the angle I stood, I did not want anybody to meet me standing there. I quickly hid behind the wall and then I saw Mar leave the study and Arya followed behind.
"Logan will be happy to know about this," I said with a smirk on my face.
I waited till they had gone far and I left. I brought out my phone from my pocket and dialed Logan's number but it went to his voicemail. I tried it a couple of times and it did the same thing.
After Caspian had recognized me the last time at the headquarters. Logan had asked me to keep our conversations off the phone, for now, this was urgent and he was not picking up.
I waited at the bar after Mar had left then I noticed Arya carrying her luggage out of the house
"Was she leaving?" I tried calling Logan again but it was still the same.
Arya stopped a taxi and got in then I followed her. I stopped another taxi.
"Follow that car," I said pointing at the one Arya entered. She got to the train station and got down. I did the same.
I watched Arya get onto the train and I followed her but I stayed far from her a little and covered up my face with a hoodie.
She was going to Golem. I got down with her and watched her take another taxi, it was already late and so I had to go back to the city. When I got back I called Logan again but he was not picking up and I had no other choice to go find him at the office. The moment he saw me he pulled me to the side.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, "I thought I told you to keep a low profile for now and that includes seeing in person"
"I tried to contact you but your line was not connecting and I had to come here"
"We can't talk now, I have some people around and so you will have to go back and return. That will have to wait, I am in an important meeting and I don't want any of them to see you"
"Why?"
"Don't be a fool, they might know you are working for Mar. I don't want anyone bursting your cover. You will wait until I ask you to come. Go home, I will give a signal for you to know when the time is right" he said
Logan insisted that I left and I was angry I was not able to tell him about Arya and what I had discovered. I went home while I waited for his call. The next morning I got a text from Jade.
"We are to meet at the mansion by 10:00 am today. The boss wants to speak with us"
I had a shower and breakfast. I left the house for the mansion when it was 9:15. I got there by 9:45 am and the rest were already seated.
"Hey guys" I greeted and they all responded, I sat down on the couch and waited like the rest. At exactly 10 am, Mar came downstairs to address all of us.
"Good day everyone" he greeted and we all responded in unison.
"I must commend you all for your efforts these past few days but I think it is time I took a break. I will be going on a mini-vacation and will return in a few days and you all can as well take the time off. Thank you" He said and excused himself
I was not expecting what he just said. We are supposed to go after the siren and kill her but it is obvious he is in love and can't think right anymore. Logan will love to take this task up. I left the house and was heading home when I got a text from Logan
"Meet me now at the secret path" I had been waiting for the text for a while and it had finally come. I took a taxi down our secret path. I got down from the car and completed the remaining distance on foot.
And Logan was already there waiting in his car. The path was quiet and lonely, Logan preferred a place like this to avoid third parties. He would be glad to find out about Arya and also her whereabouts. And knowing who Logan was and how desperately he wanted the siren, he would not stop until he found her.
