Chapter Fifty Nine

Yara's Pov

I was restless. I tried to sleep but I couldn't my heart could not take this. I had to do something quickly. I can't have any one force me to marry King Maithusa.

I spent time contemplating on how my life was about to change completely. And then I remembered the ship.

I wanted to know what was inside the ship. Isla had stopped me from going inside. And now I didn't want my papa and mama had gone out of my tent m, so I made a mound on my bed and swam away. I made sure they were in their tents.

I swam out of my tent and went in the direction of the ship. I saw light from my end and then I swam faster. It was the ship burning. It was still starting and so I tried to find an opening where I could enter the form.

When o finally found an opening, I swam into the wrecked ship. I saw the full folks. Then there were blood stains on their body. They looked lifeless. What a terrible situation. They were all still.

I looked around and there was nothing special around and so I turned to leave. Then I noticed a full folk move. I swam quickly to his side. He turned again. He was alive.

The fire was getting much and smoke was beginning to cover up the atmosphere inside the ship. I pulled him up but he was very heavy for me to lift up alone.

I tried all I could to lift him up but it was difficult. I tried to drag him by his hands but that would cause him a lot of injuries.
What scared me was the fire. It was getting bigger and bigger.

I applied force in pulling him and I finally succeeded. The smoke made it impossible to see where we were going to but after swimming for a while it cleared off. I pulled him far away from the fire.

The full folk was murmuring some words I didn't understand. I tried to ask him questions but he didn't reply.

"What was I thinking asking him questions in this state?"

I began to contemplate what to do next. I couldn't take him home and I could not keep him in the water, he had no tail like me. It would be difficult to live here.

I began to see bubbles in his mouth. I pulled him. The water made it a little easier. I held his arm as I swam to the surface of the water.

The full folk began to take in a lot of water. I didn't understand why that was but I rushed to get him to the surface.  When I got to the surface of the water, I swam to the shore.

I didn't want anyone to notice me and so I swam to the side of the shore that was covered with rocks. It was hidden and it had a cave there. I and Isla stayed there most time. We got to see a lot of ships from there and played around there too.

We watched the sunrise from that angle. It had a perfect view and people hardly came over to that side and that cave was the perfect place to keep him now he was not moving.
The human was weak now and the cave would be the perfect palace to keep him.

I pulled him up from the water to the sand. The cloud was a little bit dark and so I was sure no one was going to see me.
I noticed he began to shiver and his temperature was burning up. I came out of the water exposing my tail. I had to figure out to move the full folk to the cave without legs.

I tried to pull him up but it was not possible. I began to roll him over and that worked perfectly.

Isla would have been a perfect accomplice. She would have helped me save this full folk but she was too much of a scared cat.  I was not going to leave this one to hear. I was going to try my best to save him.

I still needed help and Isla was the only one who came to mind. The only problem I had was trying to convince her.

The full folk stirred a little and he murmured again.

"What was he trying to say?" I thought.

His fever was getting worse and he kept shivering. Isla was my only problem now. He needed to be treated now with the right herbs of course.

I tried to get him to the cave but it was really difficult.

"What do I do? Do I go and call Isla now ?"
But I knew it was not safe enough. He was still very exposed to the cold weather and the breeze at this end was very strong.

I kept pulling him on the sand, the cave was no longer far from us and so I put in more effort to get him there. As I struggled to get him to the cave, my tail rubbed on the hard and rough ground and it left cuts on my tail. That really hurt a lot but it didn't stop me.

I did not give up till I successfully pulled him into the cave. It was much warmer and safe for him. But with the way he was burning up, I had to make him warm.

I needed to make the cave hot. I searched the corners of the cave for any stones to make a fire with but couldn't find any and so I had to come out to find some. I took them back inside the cave and made a fire for him.

Then I realized he was bleeding from the side of his thighs. I quickly yanked a part of his shirt and tied it around his thighs.

Isla had taught me that sometime back when we saw a man hurt at the waterfront. We help him when he was unconscious and the next day he was gone.

The bleeding was still much and at this point, I concluded that I needed Isla.  I came out of the cave and looked around to ensure no one was around and then I wriggled back into the water. I needed isla now.

She was good with herbs and treatment, her mother had taught her before she died.

While I swam to meet her I thought of what I could tell her to bring her out this far at this hour.

Isla would be so frantic at me for not listening to her and going back to the ship. But she was my last resort. It was her or no one else. She could yell all she wanted but she was going back to the shore with me.

I swam faster to her tent, I wanted her to attend to him fast. To end his fever and bleeding.

"Isla Isla Isla" I called continuously till I heard her answer.
Isla rushed out of her tent.

"What is the matter? Is anyone hunting you?" She answered with so much urgency.

"No one is chasing me Isla. I just need a favor from you"

"What favor you pursue at this hour"
I didn't know what to say to her.

"Are you okay?" She asked looking at me in a confused manner.

"No, I'm not"

"Then what is the matter? Are you some kind of  trouble?"

"Yes I am and I need your help"

"What happened Yara?"

I said nothing.. "oh Yara"

"Hope you didn't return to the ship"

"I had to and I saved a full folk"

"I warned you Yara that was dangerous. You could have hurt yourself in the process"

Isla rushed in and grabbed some things I could not tell what they were.

"We need to hurry up and get to him. He is bleeding badly"

"Let's go," she said and we swam to the surface.

When we got to the soil, I helped Isla get to the cave, she and a lot of difficulties getting to the cave. When we got there she rushed over to his side.

"We can't stay here for long... I'll stitch him up and we will go back"

I kept quiet and watched as she stitched his legs and the bleeding stopped, then she poured in the potion she had made.

After she was done attending to him.

"We should go back to the water. He will be better by dawn"

I hesitated but when she pulled me with her and we went back to the water.

"I know you don't want to leave"

"Then why did you insist I did"

"Because it's not safe for you to stay on land for too long."

"I want to watch him get better"

"And when he wakes up to see your true form do you think he will want to have anything to do with you?"

She was right. I had no legs. I'd only save him if he saw me this way. But I still wanted to see him.

"You should help me"

"How do I do that?"

"Help me get temporary legs so I could see him"

"That's too risky Yara. I can't"

I pleaded with her and I didn't intend to let her be until she helped me.
