Chapter Ninety Two
The morning rays shone on my face and I woke up and the first thing I wanted to be sure of was my environment. I wanted to try all I could to forget about Mar. He made it clear that he did not want anything to do with me. I blocked off my thoughts concerning him and stood up from the bed.
As usual, I had to do some cleaning around the house. Jean had already made breakfast and so all I had to do was heat it a bit so it could get hot. I loved hot food. I put some of my dirty clothes into the washing machine and all of a sudden the power went off.
That was weird and so I left to go and check what the problem was. I realized it was put off
"How possible is that?" I thought.
So I walked to the part of the house and the backyard and the backyard but there was no one there. I went back to the switch, turned it on, and then went back into the house to continue using the washing machine. The power went off again, this time I was hundred percent sure someone was doing that.
I was scared but I wanted to confront whoever it was. I went out gently and on my toes checking carefully as I went forward but there was no one out there.
"Who are you? Leave this property or I will call the cops on you" I said but no one showed a face. I had hoped I scared the person away with what I had said and so I went to the switch to turn it on again.
While I was trying to switch it on, I felt a strong pull from behind. I struggled to pull myself away from the grip but the person had a strong hold on me.
"Let me go" I cried but it fell on deaf ears. I tried to struggle, I kicked but all to no avail.
"Your end is near," the voice said. It was a man's voice and it was not a familiar voice.
"Let me go please" I cried again but he did not listen, I could gradually feel my legs leaving the ground.
"Don't hurt me I beg you" I screamed but no one could hear me. And then suddenly, I heard a loud thud but it was not on me.
The grip on me loosened completely and I turned immediately to see Jade with a club in his hand and the man holding me on the floor. I was even more terrified seeing Jade here.
"How did you find me?" I asked
"It is a long story and I can't tell you all of it out here. You are not safe here" Jade said
"Did Mar send you? Are you here to kill me?"
"No, not at all. Mar has no idea that I am here. Let's get you inside" he said and we went in. I was so curious to find out how he got to know where I was.
"How did you find me?" I asked again
"Would you at least offer me a seat?"
"Oh, I'm sorry. Sit down" I said and he did
"So tell me"
"I followed you the night you left. I felt it was not safe for you and I noticed the headquarters were trailing you as well and so they know your current location and they will keep sending people after you until they get you.
"I am a siren.....I don't know if you know that?"
"I have known for quite some time but was not so sure about it"
"Why did you not confront me or tell Mar about it?"
"Because I did not want to ruin what you both had. I have known Mar for ages now and I had never seen him that happy in a long time and so I did not want to stop it"
"Was that the reason you both had a fight in the pool that day?"
"Yes......I told him I suspected a siren and he felt I had betrayed him and I did but it was for his happiness. After you did what you did, I was convinced I did the right thing"
"So what do I do now"
"You will have to change your location"
"To where? I have no money" I said
"Before now Mar had given me some money to take care of anything that had to do with your security, so money is not an issue now. I just need you to agree"
"Okay....... but I have to tell Jean about it"
"Whatever you intend to do, do it fast, the headquarters want you and will do anything and everything to get you" then he left.
I looked around to see if I could see anyone standing around but I didn't. He was right staying here was no longer an age for me and like I told Jean it would only bring problems to them.
The moment Jean got back from the shop, I sat her down to explain to her.
"I got attacked today"
"What?"
"Yes. I almost got killed"
"How did it happen?" She asked
"The power went off and I went out to check what had happened to it, on getting there I saw it turned off. I put it in and went inside the house then it went off again and I went back but got attacked by some man."
"Were you able to recognize him"
"No. I don't know him from Adam"
"Jade saved me"
"Jade? I thought he worked for Mar. how did he know you where you are?"
"He followed me and he said some other bad people followed me too"
"What bad people? What do they want from you?"
"I don't know, but one thing I know now is I'm not safe staying here anymore. And my being here is putting you and your family in harm's way and I do not want that"
"So what are you going to do now"
"Jade wants to find a safer place for me"
"You trust him that much"
"I do.. he is a real one"
And she agreed with the condition that she would know where it was and we will be in constant communication.
