Chapter Seventy Two

Mar's Pov

The beep of the machine woke me up and then I saw the nurses and doctors trying to settle the issue.

"What happened as asked?"

"He had a shock" one of the nurses replied

"Would he be okay?" I asked

"We will try to make it happen but for now you will have to wait outside the ward," the nurse said, ushering me out of the room.

I waited outside for a while. I could see the doctor and his nurses moving around him.

"Was Caspian going to be okay?" I asked

I stopped every nurse that came out from his ward and entered it. I wanted to know what the situation was.

Jade had not reached out to me yet and so I'm guessing there is no lead yet.

After waiting outside for a while, the doctor and nurses came out from Caspian's ward and then I rushed to meet him.

"How is he doing?" I asked

"He is stable now but has to be moved to the intensive care unit to be monitored."

"Okay that's fine but you need to secure the ward and aside from his wife. I am the family he has."

I had to ensure his security, whoever shot him wanted him dead and would not stop until he was cold. I know Logan had a hand in this but there was still no proof.

" We will do as you have said" the doctor replied and excused himself.

I was around when they moved him to the intensive care unit. They moved him with a trolley and he was just still on it.

Losing Caspian was going to hit me hard and so I wanted them to do everything they could. I had assured the doctor that money was not going to be a problem.

They had just finished transferring him when I got a call from the warehouse, it was an emergency call from one of the gatekeepers.

I quickly informed the nurse in charge of Caspian that I was going out to attend to something important and would return soon and then I left.

I didn't come here with a car and so I called Jade to come and pick me up. He came straight to the hospital and picked me up. We got to the warehouse fast and I could see the fire from afar.

I called the gateman over to ask him how the fire had started and he had no idea. I had called the fire service the moment I got the news and so they arrived before I did. They were already trying to put the fire out.
The police had also come to investigate the fire outbreak and they asked some questions.

"Are you the owner of the warehouse?" One of them asked and I saw the questions as irrelevant.

I told them it was an accident, but they were not alright with the explanatoin i gave and so they insisted on taking a walk around the warehouse and I let them. I ordered Mera to take them around while handling other things.

For some weird reasons, this felt like a setup.

Someone was behind it. The same person who must have hurt Caspian could be the one behind the fire outbreak.

All the goods we had purchased recently were burnt down. I had to assign Mera who had gotten there before us to handle that while I and Jade found out who was behind this.

It was ablaze but I was grateful I did not have a lot of consignments here. I was trying to get things I ordered at the warehouse when I got another call from the hospital.

I was asked to rush back to the hospital.

"What happened?" I asked the caller but she insisted that the doctor needed to see me. I handed everything over to Jade.

"I need to go to the hospital this minute"

"Did something happen?"

"I don't know. the hospital just called and I know it had something to do with Caspian. I'll just go and find out what it is"

I collected the car keys and drove to the hospital. On getting there I met the nurse who was in charge of Caspian.
I saw Caspian's wife at the reception in tears. I went over to her
"What is the problem? I got a call" I asked her but she didn't say anything but kept on crying about his daughter too.

"Yeah the doctor would like to speak to you"

"Okay, where is he?"

"I'll take you to him," she said and led the way to the doctor's office.

I met with the doctor and he asked me to sit down. His countenance was not bright at all and I sensed something fishy.

"You are not saying anything. What is the problem?"

"Well... we tried..."

"And ..." I tried to hasten his speech.

"We lost him"

"Lost who? How?"

I felt like another bomb had been thrown at me again. Caspian was gone for good. I felt numb and confused.

"How did it happen?" I asked the doctor and he didn't say anything.

"Speak to me. How did it happen?" I shouted

"I'm so sorry. Take heart"

I stood up and walked out of the doctor's office and strolled out of the hospital. I went over to Caspian's wife and daughter and took them along with me.

One of the nurses stopped me on my way out.

"Hi sir " she called but I ignored her completely. I was in no mood to exchange pleasantries with anyone. I had just lost my man. The most real of them all.

But the nurse followed behind us. She didn't give up no matter how many times I snubbed her.

She called again and this time I was so irritated and then I shouted.

"What?"

She came to a halt. And I could see she was scared.

"Why are you following me? What is the problem?"

" I... I" the nurse stammered

"What is it?"

"I wanted to tell you that Caspian died of suffocation."

"What are you saying?"

"We met him halfway off the bed with all the wires connected to him removed."

"And why would the doctor lie about the manner of his death?"

"I have no idea, sir... I guess someone was behind your friend's death and the same person might be threatening the doctor"

Jemma cried even more after hearing this confession. She was broken and I could see it.

"Can you do something for me?" And she nodded.

"Call me, please" I said then handed my card to her.

Then I left with Jemma and daughter.
