Chapter Ninety Nine
Putting a fake smile on, I went outside. The two were sitting on the ground. A bottle filled with wine and an empty one laying on the ground.
"This game is spin the bottle and never have I ever. You spin the bottle and whoever it lands on gets to ask the never have I ever question. I'll go first" Jade said
"Okay. Let's start" Jade spun the bottle and it landed on me.
"Okay ask" I tried to think of a question to ask them
"Ummmm...Never have I ever broken a rule"
"Uh....come on" Jade took a drink and so did Jean. I chuckled
"No good girl questions," Jade said.
"I'm a good girl" he rolled his eyes
"Your turn now," Jade said to me. I held the bottle, spinning it but I didn't see who it landed on because the lights went out.
"What's wrong?" Jean asked.
A strange feeling was coursing through me.
"Let me check what's wrong," Jade said standing up
"Let's find a torchlight"
"I think we should just stay together," I told them
"You and Jean should stay together. I'll go and find out what's wrong with the lights" I heard the click of a gun.
"Jade.....is that......are you with a gun?" he remained silent.
"Jade....."
"Yes, it is a gun. But it's just for safety. Go to your room and stay there. Lock the door also. Don't open until I come back for you" he said in a serious tone.
Something is definitely wrong. I was already shaking in fear. He walked away and Jean took my hands as we were trying to find our way out, I hit my toe on the couch. It hurt so much.
"Fuck" I cursed under my breath
"Are you okay?" Jean asked me
"Yes, let's go" Once we were inside my room, I shut the door and locked it while trying to search for my phone. I checked the bedside table where I had left it but it was not there.
"Where could it be right now?"
"What?" I thought I kept it here. I touched the other side trying to search for it.
My hand touched the sides of the bedside table and I stopped. My bedside drawer didn't have a rough edge. We were in another room.
"I need to get to my phone," I told Jean
"Where is it"
"In my room. We are in the guest room and I really need to make a call"
"Jade said we should remain in here until he comes back for us"
"What if he is in some kind of trouble? If we stay here we'll never know but if I can get to my phone we can call for help"
"Who can we call"
"I don't know anybody......maybe Mar"
"Arya......."
"We can't just stay here. We have to try and get help somehow"
"Let's go," she said
We tiptoed to my room, we were careful so we did not make a sound, we reached the door and I opened it quietly. We entered and I locked the door. I walked to the bedside drawer and I saw my phone. I was glad it was still there.
I dialed Mar's number but he did not pick up. He kept declining it, I knew when he saw my name he would not pick up the phone. I kept trying his number.
"Please, pick up Mar, please" I kept saying
"He's not picking up?" Jean asked
I shook my head
"Are you with your phone here? Let's use your phone and call him, he might pick up since he doesn't know who is calling"
She checked her pocket and she brought out her phone. I took the phone and typed his number and dialed it. The phone was ringing but he did not pick up immediately, I called again and he picked up. I knew he was going to end it if he found out that it was me.
"Please don't hang up"I begged
"What do you want from me?"
"Please we need your help"
He didn't wait for me to say anything else and he ended the call.
"What happened?" Jean asked
"He ended it"
"What do we do now?"
"Let's go out and see what we can do to help Jade"
"No, he asked us to remain here. It might be dangerous Arya" Jean pleaded but I didn't listen
I walked out of the room and went for the front door. I quietly opened the door and walked out. It was dark and everywhere was quiet.
I walked to the back to find Jade but I didn't find him. I walked further hoping to see him but I could not see him.
"Where could he have gone to, I wondered?"
I continued walking further when I saw Jade coming toward me. He was barely standing up, he had his right hand to his left arm and he was bleeding.
"Oh my. Jade, what happened?" I shouted
"I told you not to come out Arya.. you should not be out," he said
He fell to the ground and I went over to him to help him up. He was heavy and his weight slowed us down. I looked back to see if anybody was coming but I didn't see anyone.
"What happened? Who did this to you?" I asked but he was unable to answer.
"Run!! Arya run!!" He said
I pulled him up as he kept falling to the floor. I wanted to send him into the house and then call for help.
"They are coming for you Arya," he said.
"Run!" Jade continued to say.
He was losing a lot of blood and I couldn't help him inside.
I was scared too. They had found me and I wondered how.
"Go.." Jade tried to push me to leave but I held him
"I can't leave you like this. You are losing a lot of blood"
I was able to pull him up to the patio of the house and then knocked on the door, but before I could pull him in, Jean rushed out and started.
