Chapter Eighty Four

I was still not happy with how much trouble I was in. I thought of going back to Jean's place. I was safe there.

I and Mera were both glued to the television and didn't even notice Mar come in. He came behind me and tickled me from behind and I jumped up.

"You startled me," I said and he came around to where I stood and hugged me.

"I'm sorry," he said and kissed me.

"How did your day go?" I asked

"It went well but something was missing "

"And what is that?"

"You," he said kissing me on the neck.

Mera cleared her throat. And he turned to speak why her. And after that, he turned back to face me.

"I want to take you shopping"

I was not expecting this. I didn't want him to do so much for me.

"You don't have to do that, I still have a lot of clothes. I have some I haven't even worn before"

"It doesn't matter baby. I want you to have more. Mera can come with us" he said
Mar was too stubborn to listen, I tried to give more excuses but he placed his index finger on my lips to stop me from talking.

"I insist"

"Alright"

He took me back to the room to get changed into something else.

After that, we drove off to the shopping mall. And went over to the lady's section. I and mera went to try the clothes we liked while Mar waited for us.

I won't deny, that shopping was so much fun. I enjoyed every bit of it. Though my mind kept pricking me.

We spent a lot of time playing dress up and by the time we were done I had four bags full of new designer clothes and shoes. Mar dropped Mera off on our way to the house so it was just the both of us left.  The drive was quiet but I stole glances at the fine man beside me and he did the same.

"Would you like to go somewhere and chill"

"Where is that?"

"One of my partners invited me to a charity event and I want you to go with me"

"But.."

"No buts baby.. you are my woman and I want to show you off"

I was quite flattered. This man was making me feel really special but guilt always crept in.

"I missed seeing you smile. I missed you, Arya. Why did you leave the way you did?"

That question blew me off. Each time it came up, I become so scared. So scared that everything was going to crash at any minute.

"Talk to me" he pulled me to face him

"I left because I was scared."

"Scared of what?"

"Scared that I would never be good enough for you," I said

"Don't say that.. you are the best thing that has ever happened to me, Arya. I couldn't function after you left. You are my life and I live for you"

I saw how serious he was when he spoke. And I could see the sincerity in his eyes. But I was not being sincere to him and that hurt.

"I don't want you to hate me"

"I will never hate you, Arya. I love you more than life"

Mar pulled me close and brushed his lips against mine.

"Go get ready. Dinner is by 7 pm"

I went up to the room and had a shower and then picked out one of the gowns I had gotten from the mall, it was a red gown with a long slit. And then I picked out a silver heel and silver purse with it. Erick Flinn at the charity event.

It was 7 pm already and I hurried out after I had done my makeup. I didn't want to keep him waiting. I walked down the stairs to see him standing right there in a black tuxedo.


Mar looked breathtakingly handsome. I fell in love all over again with him seeing him in that tux. And I noticed the way he looked at me like he wanted to rip the dress away. I walked down to meet him. And he pulled me to him.

"You are beautiful," he said

"Thank you and you look handsome"

"I want to take you upstairs to the room and rip your dress into two and then make love to you till morning"

"We should get going" I reminded and we left.

Jade drove us down to the venue. And it didn't take long before we got to the venue.

We got down from the car and Mar led me into the hall with my hands in his and he held me tightly.

At this event, there were dignitaries and a lot of celebrities. We waited while he looked around like he was searching for someone.

Then I saw an elderly man coming toward us. It felt like I had known him from somewhere.

I felt some sort of connection to him and while he spoke to Mar I just stared at him.

"Who is this beauty by your side?" Mr. Flinn said

"Arya.. my woman" mar said

"Nice to meet you, beautiful damsel," Mr. Flinn said stretching out a hand to me and I shook him.

"Nice to meet you too" I responded.

"I have seats reserved for you. Come with me"


Mr. Flinn took us to the VIP section of the hall and showed us to our seats and then we sat. There was so much money flying around the hall. I enjoyed every bit of it and I hoped that the orphanage could benefit from an event like this someday.

Mar led the way out of the hall after saying goodbye to Mr. Flinn. On our way out. Some man blocked us and I could see there was tension between Mar and him.

"Little kitten has come out of hiding." The man said with a smirk on his face

"Don't speak to her like that" mar said as he came to stand in front of me.


Mar was not having any of it and so he pulled me away and out of the place. And in a few seconds, Jade came and he drove us home. I was consumed with so much guilt. When we got home I just got down without waiting for him to open up the door for me. I just wanted to find a solution to this and fast before he find out the whole truth.
