Chapter Ninety Four

Jean had accepted and I called Jade to inform him about it. It rang the first time but he didn't pick up. I dialed the number again and this time he answered.

"Jade......when can we see?"

"Soon Arya...... I'm trying to get a safe place for you" he said in between pants

"Okay.. are you okay?"

"Yes. I am. I will call you as soon as everything is ready" he said and he ended the call.

"I'm not sure I like this Jade," Jean said

"Why?"

"I don't know. I don't think you should trust him completely" Jean said

Ever since I mentioned Jade was helping me, I noticed how uncomfortable it made Jean. She didn't trust him, that was the only explanation I could give it.  But I did, he had protected my identity when he found out and still took the risk to come and save me. I had no doubts and I knew he was so loyal to Mar and wanted his best interest.

"Was I still Mar's interest?" I asked myself

I had tried everything possible to let him off my mind but it had been so impossible. I missed him so much. He was everywhere. My thoughts and even my dreams.

"He aside from Mar had been there for me and very protective and I have no reason to doubt him, besides I'm not safe here"

"I feel so sad you have to leave," she said with a frown on her face.

"It's for the best Jean and thank you for giving me a home when o had none," I said


"Come on, you don't have to thank me. You are dear to me as well as Laurie but it is painful Laurie isn't here with us anymore" she said

"I miss her too" and Jean came over and gave me a hug and I hugged her in return.


Laurie was my sister and it had hurt so much when she died. I had planned to visit her graveside but all these events had made it impossible.

Jean and I spent the day packing my clothes into my luggage and gusting of random stuff. I spent the next couple of days waiting for a response from Jade, it was taking too long and I was beginning to get so scared.

Most times I began to wonder if something had happened to him and he would assure me that everything was good. I remained inside the house most of the time and if I needed to step out, I had to go out in disguise. I was scared I would run into someone I wasn't supposed to see.

I had several dreams and they all screamed danger. I was not safe at all and the only man I wanted to be my shield was far away from me and hated me too.

One day, on my way to get some sanitary pads from a shop nearby. I saw a black car and I noticed a man walking towards it.

I looked carefully and saw one of Mar's men. It was not Jade but one of the other two.

I had difficulty differentiating those two. I was curious to know what he was up to and so I hid behind another car and watched. I brought out my phone to take pictures and was careful so they didn't notice me. My hoodie made it easier for me to cover my face.

A man came out of the car, and I recognized him. It was the man who had confronted Mar while we were leaving the charity event.

"What was he doing with an enemy of Mar?" I thought

They exchanged handshakes and then looked around before entering the bar close to them. I knew the best thing for me to do was go back home immediately. I turned back and returned home and I made sure no one was following me.

The moment I got into the house I pulled out my phone from my pocket and called Jade. He picked up immediately

"I have something urgent I'd like to tell you. I need to see you soon" I said

"Did anyone attack you again"

"No.no one but you need to come before you or Mar gets hurt"

"I will see you this evening and get your things ready. The place is ready" he said and I ended the call.

The evening came and Jade showed up.

"What did you want to show me?" he asked

I lifted my phone to his face and showed him the pictures I had taken.

"The last time Mar and I went to an event together, he threatened Mar and  I have been seeing Dole here in Golem, but when I saw him speaking to this man. I felt something was wrong"


"You followed him? This is dangerous, one of them could have seen you. The man in the picture is Logan and he was the one that sent that man after you"


"No one followed me...... I just wanted something to back up my claim over this man" I said

"I have always suspected him to be the mole but Mar thought otherwise"

"Are you trying to say Mar is in danger?"

"That's not what I am saying. Mar has been prepared for Logan a long time ago, so he has well-protected you, on the other hand, is not so get your luggage we are leaving immediately" Jade ordered

"But Jean is not here yet"

"No buts Arya.....we need to leave"

Jade and I got into the car and drove off. We finally got to the house, it was small and beautiful, and there were neighbors around.

We got down and he  helped me get my luggage and led the way into the house

"How did you find this place?" I asked

"I got this place some years back. I wanted to move here when I start a family" he said

"With Mera?" I asked but he said nothing

"You like her, don't you?"

"How do you know that?"

"I'm just asking"

"Yes, I do but I'm yet to propose"

I felt they both had a beautiful thing going and I was rooting for both of them.
