Chapter Thirty Nine

The dream happened again and I jumped up. When I remembered that I wasn't alone. It was already too late. Mar was already awake. And I could see the concern on his face.

"Are you okay?"

"No. I just had a bad dream"

"Do you remember what happened?"

"Not exactly"

"It's alright.. let's go back to sleep"

He pulled me down with him and put my head on his chest. While he tapped me to sleep and within seconds I was already fast asleep.

I woke up and I felt my head on a hard surface and then remembered how hot there. I tried to move away gently so I don't wake him and he pulled me back.


I started laughing.

"Where do you think you are sneaking off to?" Mar asked

"I didn't want to wake you"

"Why? You didn't want me to see your beautiful face?"

That made me blush and then he kissed me. I was just thinking of how we got here. Not too long we were avoiding each other like a plague and now we couldn't keep our hands away from the other person.

"You look absolutely beautiful this morning," he said with a smile on his face.

I was blushing at the compliments he was showering on me. I haven't been this close to any man before and this one was making me fall helplessly for him.


"Do you mind if I ask what keeps you and the guys out so late?"

"Work.. the nature of our work keeps us out so late."

"What type of work is that?"

"Siren hunters..."

"What's that?" I asked curiously

"I'll explain that later. Meanwhile, I'd ask Mera to take you shopping, you need new clothes"


"I have more than enough, there would be absolutely no need for new clothes beside I barely go out"

"Well that's about to change"

"Really?.."

"Yes so go get ready. Dole will drop you and Mera off at the boutique"

"Why are doing all of this?"

Mar took my hands and put them into his and then kissed them.

"You make me feel things I never believed I was capable of. You give me peace"

"I do..?."

"I want you to be my girlfriend... I want you to be mine. Please say yes and if you still want me to give you time to think about it then it's fine."

"Yes. I will" I answered immediately

"Are you sure you don't want to know honk about it?"

"I don't need to. I know what I want and I know it's you I want"

And Mar pulled me for another kiss. He stood up quickly and carried me downstairs.

I was shy when we got to the living room and reintroduced me to Mera, Dole, and Jade as his girlfriend.

And they came over to congratulate us. Mar hugged me and kissed me not minding we were not alone.

"Get a room guys" Mera shouted.


Mera and I went shopping as mar had said. I was to pick anything I wanted.

Laurie called and we spoke for a while I told her about mar and me and she was excited.

Mera took me to the shoe section and we picked a couple of shoes too. Then she got a call and stepped out to pick it up.

I continued checking around for some other kinds of stuff then I noticed two men walk into the boutique and they both had their eyes on me.

I looked around for Mera but she wasn't anywhere close and I got scared. So I got out of the boutique and the strange men followed behind.

I kept walking and I had no idea where I was running to and then kept following. I got to a dead-end and then looked left and right but there was no other place to go.

"You are just like your mother," one of them said

"What do you want from me? Let me go"

They tried to drag me but I pulled myself away but they kept dragging me.


"Help help" I shouted but there was no help and then they pulled me and from what I noticed they were taking me to the black car.

I used all the strength I had to pull away from them and I ran. I took the route that led back to the boutique. That was when I saw Mera and from the way, she was looking she'd been looking for me.

The moment she saw me she rushed to me

"Where did you go to? I've been looking for you all over the place"


"They .... are ... chasing me"

"Who? Who are they?" She asked looking confused

"They almost took me with them"

"Who?"

But I couldn't explain who they were. Mera got our shopping bag as and we got to the parking lot and got into the car. I was still trembling from my encounter at the boutique.

"Who could have been behind this?"

"Why did they mention my mother?"


I think it was time for me to find out who my mother was. I had to go back to the orphanage and speak to my mother Pamela.

I needed answers. It was time for me to know why I had those dreams and why those men kept following me and what my mother did.

When I got home I just went up to my room. I took a shower and laid down on my bed. Mar came into the room and joined me on the bed and then he cuddled me.


I lay in his arms as I thought of how safe being in his arms felt.

"I'd like to go to the orphanage tomorrow"

"That's fine. I'll ask Dole to take you there"


"Thank you" and then I brushed my lips lightly against his.

"I'd like you to move into my room with me. We shouldn't be staying in separate rooms"

"Don't you think we are moving too fast Mar?"

"I don't think so. I love you and that's all that matters"

"I love you too"


And then he gave me a deep kiss, that lasted for minutes before he pulled apart. Mar was finally mine and I was his.
