Chapter Thirty One

The morning came rather late. I woke up and didn't see Laurie around. I was wondering where she was. I looked in the bathroom and she still wasn't there.

I went down to meet Mar and Jade in the living room.

"Good morning" I greeted
And they both responded

"Please has any of you seen Laurie this morning"

"Yes, she left earlier. She said she got a call from work"


I was already mad at her for leaving without informing me and she knew I wanted to leave this place.

I went back to the room and picked up my phone then a note fell off.

I picked it up and read it.

I'm sorry I didn't tell you I was leaving and that's because I felt you would be safer at Mar's place especially now you will be alone. Please stay there. I will be away for some days, I got the gig. I love you.


My anger subsided a little after reading the letter. But I was not going to pay attention to the part she said to stay there. I was going to go home today and that is final.


I went in and took my shower and then after that, I got dressed, and luckily for me. Mar and Jade were still in the living room.

"Where are you going with your bag?" Mar asked

"I'm leaving"

"You know you don't have to go right?"

"I do. I need to go in search of a new job. I don't want to be a liability"

I had made up my mind I wasn't going to change it.

"Go and drop her at home," Mar said to Jade.

"No... I'll take a taxi"


"That's fine suit yourself" mar snapped and walked out.


I said goodbye to Jade and went out. I was not expecting him to give up easily. I wanted him to insist that I stayed behind and I was disappointed at his willingness to let me go.

At this point I was confused. "What do you really want Arya?" I asked myself.

I just didn't want another Vale in my life. I needed to deal with this one issue and I didn't want to misinterpret any attention he was giving me for affection because I was starting to think so.

I took the taxi home, changed up into something else, and went in search of another job. And while I did that I was looking over my shoulders in case vale showed up.


I tried my best to comb the city of Salamanca but I didn't find any job. It was getting late already and I hadn't eaten anything. I stopped at an eatery, ordered for food, and ate up. I had finished eating when I began to feel pressed so I decided to use the restroom.

I got into the restroom and the next thing Someone grabbed me from behind and covered my mouth. I struggled to shout but the palm on my mouth made that impossible.

"I told you I'll find you and now I have. Where is your knight in shining armor now?"


It was Vale. He had found me and now he was going to lock me up forever. I began to cry, maybe I would have just listened and stayed back at Mar's place.

Vale pushed me to the wall and used his body to hold me to it. I tried to push him away but he was too strong for me. He began to pull my polo up and then he put one of his hands into my bra and fondled my breast. He began kissing the sides of my neck.

I was irritated by how he was trying to kiss me deeply. I tried all I could to push him away but he held on tight. He moved his hands down to my trousers and was trying to unbuckle them, then I felt his weight lighten on me, and then I didn't feel his presence anymore. I turned and saw him on the floor with Mar above him. He was beating him up and Vale was almost lifeless on the floor.

I went over and pulled Mar away and we left the eatery. I felt so embarrassed. He had asked me to stay but I had insisted on leaving and now it wasn't even up to 24 hours and Vale had caught up with me and now I was unable to protect myself after leaving with so much pride.


And we got into his car. He drove me over to my apartment first.

"Go in and get your things"

It was an order I was supposed to obey and not argue. I quietly went in and picked up some of my clothes and joined him back in the car. He drove back to his house.
The drive back to his house was a quiet one. I couldn't talk. I was so embarrassed and from the look of things he wasn't happy with me either and so I faced the road.

"You will be staying here until Vale has been taken care of appropriately. You can stay in the room you've been staying in. My housekeeper is around, in case you need anything don't hesitate to ask her"


He didn't wait for me to say anything and then he walked away. I had no choice but to go up and drop my bag in the room.

I laid down and my mind went back to what would have been a terrible occurrence. This was the second time I was being in this situation.


First Vale rescued me and now I'm being rescued from him. Mar rescuing me was awesome but I hope I won't need to be rescued from him soon.


I was not hungry and I didn't think that I'll be needing the housekeeper for anything so I took a shower and then laid down and before some seconds passed I slept off.

It was a beautiful dream this time. I was wrapped in his arms as we lay down under the stars. And from time to time he dropped kisses all over my face. And even while I slept I was safe in his arms.
