Chapter Fifty Two

We chose the beach for our hangout. It was so much fun having others around. Mar and Jade with some other men played basketball while we the ladies cheered on.

Laurie as usual left us and I was sure she was at some cool spot taking pictures. While i and Mera stayed to cheer then men. They finished playing the game and it was sad that Mar's team lost.


We moved to the karaoke session. And Jade insisted that I go over and sing and then soon Mar was urging me on. And sincerely I had missed all of this.
I had put almost all my life on hold just for my safety and yet I was still not sure about all of it.

"Go Arya! Go Arya!" they cheered and I went up to sing.
The moment I took over the microphone, everywhere was quiet. All eyes where on me.


Everyone was gaping at me like I was some goddess. And then I noticed Jade turning around like he was looking for something, then Mar followed. Then they were out of sight. Leaving Mera behind.

I was too concerned to continue and so I stopped and came down from the stage. I went to meet them to know what the problem was.

"What is wrong with Jade and Mar?" I asked her

"They got a lead. There's a siren around"

"You sing so well Arya... beautiful voice. You've got all the men falling in love"


"The only man I want is Mar and he isn't here"

"He will be back before you know it... he loves you a lot"


"And I love him too."


"I have never seen Mar this smitten by a woman."

"But ladies flock around him. He must have had interest in one of them"

"Yes they do but he was never into any of them"

"Even Claudia?"

"I told you this before Claudia does not mean anything to Mar. he was never interested in her and I doubt he will ever be, so your man is just yours."

"You seem to know so much about Mar, how long have you known him"


"Just a year and it was through Jade. He introduced me to mar and since then Mar had treated me like family"

"Wow... that's so sweet"

We orders for drinks and drank as we sang along with the others.


Mera and I had fun while we waited for Mar and Jade to return but they didn't instead Mar sent a message to me asking her to take me home.

I wasn't happy that a day we had planned out was ruined. But if it was for our safety I'd rather go home.

Laurie met us at the karaoke bar and we told her about the new developmentbut she insisted on staying behind.


"Nothing is stopping my fun.. you guys can go" she said

"I think you should join us" mera said

"Yeah Laurie, Mera is right..."

"I'm alright bestie.. I'll see you at home"

"Alright if you say so"

I was tired of trying to persuade her. I believed she would take care of herself. She left. Laurie has always been an adventurous person, I didn't expect her to follow us home though but there was no harm in trying.

Then i wanted to get my phone to call Mar, I turned to pick it up and realized that I had left my bag at the bar.

"Oh shit"

"What's the problem?" Mera asked

"I forgot my phone at the bar"

"You go and get it while I wait here for you"

I went back to the bar and I was right. I had forgotten it right here. I went over to pick it up and then noticed a man sitting just beside the table. He was putting on a black hood and when he lifted his head I recognized him.

He was one of the men that had attacked me the last time I was at the club.

The place was quite rowdy and people were everywhere, that gave me a little confidence. There was no a way they will attack me in such a busy place.

I gently took my bag and turned to leave immediately.

The moment I turned to leave, he followed behind me. I tried to run as fast as I could and he kept following me.

I quickly got to the car where Mera was waiting for me but she wasn't in the car. I looked around but didn't see the man again. I didn't know how to drive.

I was so confused and scared at the same time. I brought my phone out of my bag and dialed Mar's number but he wasn't picking.

I wanted to call Mera when she came in sight and I gave her a sign to hurry up. And she did. She got to the car immediately and I entered too.

"What is it? You look tensed " she said

"Yes someone is chasing me"

I looked at the rear mirror and saw the man coming behind.

"That's him" I shouted pointing to his direction.

Mera saw him and started the car and then drove off. The man got into a black car and pursued after us.

I was so scared and then the buzzing from my phone gave me another shock.

"Calm down Arya" Mera said

I was shivering in fear and it was very visible.

"He's coming behind us... drive faster"

"Did you see his face"

"Yes... it was done of the men from club"

The call came in again and I picked it this time. It was Mar calling


"Babe you called".

"Yes baby... some man is chasing after us"

"Shit!!!.. put the phone on speaker" he ordered

"Mera... drive to the safe house"

"Yes boss"

And then I could see the man getting even closer like he was going to hit the car. I realizes it was not just one person, they were two.

Mera was on a very high speed and she overtook the car before us and they were behind. I never knew she could drive this well.

We got to the safe house and she drove in. I had never been to this house before. It was so beautiful.
