Chapter Eighty Eight

Mar's Pov

After work, I drove to the bar and took a couple of drinks. While I was drinking, all I could think about was Arya and so when one of the girls came over to meet me, I didn't think twice, I let her touch and caress me.

"Do you want to get out of here?" I asked and she nodded.

I took her to a hotel and then we started kissing and smooching but it still didn't take my mind away from Arya. She was all I felt and all I could think of.

The lady continued to kiss me even when I began to show less interest. She bent down to unbuckle my belt and I stopped her. But she insisted and then I shouted

"Stop!!"

Then she realized I was serious. I brought out my wallet and handed her some notes of dollars and asked her to leave. She collected it and left immediately.

I laid there for a while thinking of what my next line of action should be, but nothing came to my head apart from taking flowers to my mother and sister. I had promised them revenge and now I was failing. and so I picked up my things and went back to my car.

I drove myself back to the penthouse. I wanted to give her as much space as I could. I should have sent her out the moment I found out but I could not do that.

Logan was on the lookout for a siren and I guessed she was the one they had been suspecting all this while.

Sending her out there would be putting her in the line of danger.

"But that was what should be done. She should be out on the streets not in my house" I thought

I couldn't give an order for her to be taken out of the house. I hadn't even informed the rest of the gang that she was the siren.


The mole amongst us was yet to be found. Caspian would have helped but he was dead.

I went up to the bar upstairs and took out a glass and poured myself a drink. I was yet to conclude what next to do.

My phone started ringing, I picked it up to see who the caller was. Jade was calling.

"Why would he be calling me after I told him o wanted to be left alone?"

I ignited the call and it eventually stopped. Two minutes later, it started ringing again. It was still Jade calling.
I intended to end the call, but I decided to pick up, he might have a piece of important information for me.


"What is the problem?" I shouted

"It's Arya.."

Hearing her name I became alert.

"What happened to her?"

"She was just rushed to the hospital"

"What hospital? Why?"

"I met her unconscious in your room this evening"

"What is the name of the hospital?" I asked again

"Memorial hospital"

"Okay I'll be there soon," I said and ended the call.

I rushed to where I had kept my car keys and picked them up. And drive the car straight to the hospital.

"What could have happened to her?"

I was so scared that something terrible had happened to her. On getting to the hospital, I met Jade and Mera waiting at the reception, and the moment they see me, they both came over to meet me.

"Where is she?"

"They just took her into the ward and are trying to stabilize her," Mera said and so I wired patiently.

The doctor came out and I rushed to meet him.

"Hi Mar"

The lady in the ward how is she?" I asked

"Who are you to her?"

"I'm her fiancé"
I didn't know when that came out of my mouth but it did and it saved the situation.

"Oh. Come with me to the office, I'll like to speak with you privately"

And I followed him. We got to his office and I sat down.

"She was pregnant"

"Pregnant?"

"Yes.. but I doubt she had an idea about it. She must have been under a lot of stress and was not taking enough supplements. She lost the baby"

Arya was pregnant with my child. I had wanted babies with Arya and hearing that I had lost this one, I felt it was enough for me to know that we couldn't be together.


"She needs a lot of rest and supplements to help her recover quickly," the doctor said

"When will she be discharged?" I asked


"This evening," he said

"That's fine. Can I see her now?" I asked

"Oh yes sure. But we gave her some sleeping pills, so she would be sleeping now"

And I left the office and went straight to the ward where she was kept. And as the doctor had said she was asleep.


She looked so peaceful while she lay there but I knew what her kind was capable of doing.

I could not believe I was this close to having a baby with my enemy. And even at that, I couldn't bring myself to kill her. She had taken me for a fool for too long, and I was glad I could see through her skin.

I had fallen hopelessly and madly in love with her and she had other plans. I looked at her one more time and then I left the ward. It was better I stayed away from her completely.

I walked to the reception to meet up with Jade and Mera. They were still waiting.

"You both should wait and take her home. She would be discharged this evening"

I handed Jade some dollar bills, I didn't count them.

"Use this to settle the bills and get whatever she will need. It should be okay. I'll be at the penthouse. I do not want to be disturbed."

"Yes Mar" Jade said and I went to the car

Mera came behind me to ask me what I was leaving but I dismissed her. I was not ready to tell anyone yet.
