Chapter Sixty Eight

Mar's Pov

It was already 24 hours since I started the search for Arya and there was still no trace of Arya or assurance that she was safe.

"Where are you, Arya?"

I barely slept, all I could think of was Arya. She was in my dreams and sometimes I felt like I was seeing her but she still was not here. I missed her so much. He smiles, her giggles, and even her smell.

I needed to know of the places she had been to these past few days. Laurie would have been in a better position to tell me about all of this but she was not alive.

I called Jade to come over to the office. A knock on the door got me on alert. I asked who the person was and then Keith walked in.

"Good day boss" Keith greeted

"Where have you been for the past few days?" I asked

Keith hesitated for a while and then he spoke.

"I have been feeling sick for some days now and I went to see my doctor. He asked me to take as much rest as I could to help me. I am sorry I did not inform you about it"

I looked at him for a while and he could not look me in the eyes. His excuse did not sound convincing to me but I did not want to look insensitive.

I would just keep an eye on him to make sure he doesn't do anything stupid.  Then I remembered he had taken Arya to the orphanage once. It had been a long time but I was sure he would remember where it was.

"Can you remember the orphanage you took Arya to some time ago?"

"Yes I can remember the orphanage and the place it is located," he said

"Get the car ready, you will be taking me to the orphanage"

"Okay boss"

Keith got the car ready and I joined him and he drove us to the orphanage. The orphanage was very far from the city. It was situated in a remote area of Cattagana. The orphanage was in a poor state and I knew the living conditions here were poor and its surroundings was really terrible.

Arya must have been through a lot living here. These were projects the government was supposed to concentrate on. But that was not the issue now.

When I got into the orphanage, I saw some little kids playing around, and then I saw a girl, she looked like she was in her teens. I walked till I was standing next to her.

"Hey"

"Good afternoon" she greeted

"What's your name?"

"Cherry"

"Cherry can you take me to the mother Pamela"

"Yes I can .. follow me."

Cherry led me to a small garden and I met an aged woman and her grey hair stood out perfectly"

"Good day ma'am"

"Good day. Do I know you?" She asked

"I'll introduce myself to make it easier"

"I am Mar"

"Oh Mar, what can I do for you?"

"Mother Pamela" I called and she was surprised that I knew her name.

"You know me and I do not seem to know you. Did you grow here in this orphanage?" She asked

"No, I didn't... I am Arya's boyfriend"

She was surprised to hear me say that. "Arya never mentioned she had a boyfriend"

It hurt that she kept time a secret from the person she held dear. But I was not here for that, Arya must have a reason for keeping me a secret. I needed her to tell me what she knows about Arya's disappearance.

"Uhhh. Arya has got good eyes though" she said smiling and that made me smile a little.

"What about Arya? Have you heard from her lately?"

I noticed the shock on her face.

"I haven't seen her in a while and I have been worried sick about her" mother Pamela said

"That is why I am here mother"

I noticed her countenance change, she had suddenly become so uncomfortable. She must know something about Arya's whereabouts.

"Are you sure you do not know where Arya is?"

"I swear that I do not know where she is. What has happened to my Arie?" She said as she began to sob

"Calm down mother. I'll find her"

"Please find her for me, she has no one else." She pleaded

"Do you have any idea where else I could find her?"

"I have absolutely no idea and she had no relatives and knows no one else expects people here at the orphanage"

"I will make sure I find her" I assured her and I meant it. My Arya was out there all by herself and I knew she was not safe. Logan would be searching for her too if he finds out she was missing.

Caspian should have something by now and I hadn't been able to check up on him.  I dialed his number but got no response and I tried it twice again.

Mother Pamela kept pacing about and I knew she was so worried but I felt she was hiding something.

I felt coming here was a bad idea and then I said goodbye to mother Pamela and left.   On my way out of the orphanage, I bumped into another woman, she was a bit younger than mother Pamela.

"I am sorry" I apologized for bumping into her.

"It is alright. It was my fault" she said

And I proceeded to leave and then she tapped me and pulled me to another side of the orphanage. She looked around severally before speaking up.

"I am sorry for pulling you here, but I couldn't help it. I overheard your conversation with mother Pamela. I know who can tell you about Arya's whereabouts and where you can find the person"

Listening to this woman now, coming here was the best option.

"Go ahead tell me" I said but she shook her head in disagreement.

"I can't tell you anything now, someone might see me speaking with you and report to mother Pamela. Give me your number and I'll give you a call. That was not a bad idea and so I pulled out my card from my wallet and gave it to her.

"Please call me I will be expecting it"

"I will" and then I left and went to the car. Keith and I went back to the city.
