Chapter Twenty Seven

Vale was close to ruining my life and all I wanted to do was go back to school. I had no money to fight him in court.

At this point, I had no choice but to do what he asks of me.

"I'll do what vale wants me to do"

"Are you out of your mind Arya? That man wants to exploit you"


"But he can make me go to jail"


"He won't dare"


The taxi got to our apartment and we came down after paying. Laurie and I entered into the house and to our greatest shock. Vale was right there waiting for us.

I looked around to see if there was someone else there, but he was alone.

"You bastard what do you want to hear?" Laurie asked


"Stay out of this Laurie. Pretend you can't see me. I've know you never liked me and so continue to act like you don't see me"


"You are a piece of shit." Laurie cursed


He laughed at her curses. "I'm here for Arya"

"Leave me alone Vale... I owe you nothing"


"The contract says a different thing. It says you owe me everything, Arya. I'll break it down for you. It means I own you"

"You are sick" Laurie shouted. He ignored her and came to stand right in front of me.

"You can't hide away from me but for long, you know what the contract says and aside from that you know I love you"


"This is not love Vale. It's greed and obsession"

"Is it because of that man?"

"What man are you talking about?"

"The one at the bar. Seeing the way you looked at him got me so jealous Arya. I want you to look at me like that. I want you to want me the way you want him"


"I do not know what you are talking about"

"I'll help you remember," he said as he pulled me with his both hands


Laurie tried to push him down but he had a strong balance and pushed Laurie down instead. He faced her and gave her a few slaps leaving her weak on the floor. I tried to pull him away from her but he slapped me in return.

He turned back to me and began to apologize.

"I didn't mean to hit you, my love"


"Leave me alone" I cried but he didn't listen he carried me and moved out of the house.

"Let her go" Laurie shouted weakly.

"Your friend belongs to me now, so I'll be taking her with me"
Laurie tried to hold him but he kicked her off him and walked out of the house with me on his shoulders, trying to free myself.

As we came out of the house, jade and mar were outside and for some weird reason, I was happy. I knew they'd come to save me but I was surprised at the same time.

"How did they know I was in trouble?"

"Let the lady go," Mar said gently

"This is none of your business, so just.... oh you are the one ... the major reason she's been acting up lately," Vale said

"I don't care what you think. Just drop the lady and let her go"

"And who are you to give me orders"

"Someone you don't want to mess with" jade replied.

Vale dropped me down from his shoulders.


"For the last time, this is none of your business, so stay out of it"

"You should not argue, just do as he has told you to"

Vale laughed at what jade had said and then he went further to punch Jade. Jade returned the punch and Vale lost his balance and fell to the ground.

Mar orders me to get into the guy and I do that without hesitating. But I came out of the car again.

"I said you should get in the car"


"My friend... I can't leave her here, she is in a bad state"

Mar instructed Jade to go get Laurie and then told me to wait in the car. Jade came out of the apartment with Laurie in his arms. He brought her to join me in the back seat.


"Are you okay?" I asked her

"Not so good"


Jade went back to meet Mar, they had a brief talk and Jade was back in the car. He started the car.

"Why are we leaving him behind?" I asked

"He wants me to keep you guys safe first. And don't worry he can handle that man by himself." Jade said

I didn't doubt that.

Jade took I and Laurie to the room I stayed in the last time I was here.


"The cook will make you both something to eat."


"How did you guys know I was in trouble?"


"Mar asked me to keep an eye on you after you insisted on leaving the house the last time. He knew that whoever was after you were still going to come after you"

"So you have been spying on me?"


"Not exactly... I need to go now" and then he left.



"This is a heaven on earth," Laurie said as she kept looking around the room.

"This place is way bigger than our apartment."


"You are supposed to be in bed"


"Why?"


"Because of the pain you must be feeling" and she laughed

"What's funny?"


"I don't feel any more pain girl. It vanished the moment that man carried me"

"You must be silly. We won't be staying for long here, so get whatever thoughts you're having in your head out."


I was pressed so I went into the toilet to ease myself.


"Always so uptight" Laurie murmured

"I heard you" I shouted.

"How did you meet him?"

"That's the last thing I want to speak about... I need to get myself out of this mess. Vale will stop at nothing till he got me where he wanted me to be"

"You should not worry mystery man will rescue you just like he did today"


I don't want any more favors from men, they all seemed to want the same thing at the end of the day. Vale was an example and I didn't want it to repeat itself ever again.

"No I have a huge problem at hand I don't think he can save me"

"My signatures are in the wrong document and I don't know how that happened. It is all forged and I don't have the money to face him in court if it gets to that point"


"Vale is a shady man, he would not take you to court, he'll only blackmail you with it"

"How sure are you?"

"That's how his kind works. But in the meantime, tell me about Mar"

"He is an arrogant and rude man. I met him at the pub and he embarrassed me"

"Why? What did you do?"

"He always had an attitude. I just tried to talk to him and that was it"

"Wait, you went to meet him first?"

Laurie was about to laugh at me and that was the last thing I needed.


"Is anything wrong with that?"

"No, absolutely not, I never knew you could do that. I'm proud of you bestie"


It was funny that I walked up to a man first. But that would be the last time I'd do that ever again.
