Enjoying His Pain
“Brother,” Caleb said softly as he put his hand on my shoulder. “He can’t answer you if you choke the life out of him.”
I clenched my jaw as I loosened my grip on Will’s throat. I was beyond livid that this asshole had the nerve to refuse Leah her divorce.
“That’s a good start. Now, let him go,” Caleb coaxed, trying to pry my fingers off the asshole’s throat to no avail.
I took a deep breath before opening my hand, narrowing my eyes on Will as he slid down the wall, gasping for air, while he massaged his throat. I took a step back, away from him, desperately trying to fight the urge to stomp down on his face. Caleb squeezed my shoulder.
“It’s okay. Do you need to step outside?” He asked.
“No! I’m not leaving until this piece of shit agrees to go with us. I’m not leaving his side until after he signs the divorce decree. I’m not letting him keep this hold over her. She deserves better than that,” I hissed before giving in to my urges to kick him in the leg.
He gave a short cry of pain before Rhino cleared his throat as he stepped between us when I pulled my leg back again. God, just being in the same vicinity as the man who had made Leah fear people, fear me, made me want to snap. I backed away from him more to pace agitatedly as Caleb watched me.
“Just remember we’re doing this for Leah,” he reminded me gently.
“I know! Just seeing that piece of shit infuriates me.” I stopped pacing to pin him with an angry glare. “I should have shot you in the head.”
He remained quiet, which, admittedly, was the best choice he could make at the moment. I took another deep breath before moving back toward him, crouching in front of him.
“I’m going to tell you how this is going to go. You have two choices. You can either walk out to the car, or I can carry you bound and gagged. Either way, you are getting in the car. And tomorrow, I will be by your side until you concede to the divorce. If you don’t do it tomorrow, then I will be your best friend, your housemate, and your partner for life until you do. So, please try me.”
He swallowed hard as he looked around at Rhino’s and Caleb’s stoic expressions. I knew I wasn’t exactly terrifying to look at, but they were. If he didn’t believe me, he would be a fool to not believe they didn’t mean business. Finally, he sighed before nodding.
“I’ll go.”
“Smart choice. And before you think that you are getting off that easily, I have a gift for you.” I reached behind me, gesturing for the box that I knew Caleb was carrying somewhere on his person. As soon as he put it in my hand, I opened it to pull out the shock collar. “Leah told me about how you made her wear one of these when she first married you. She told me how you would use it on her when she displeased you.” I nodded my head at him, and Rhino immediately pulled his head back. “You would tell her, ‘Now you’re my bitch, and you will obey me.’” I put the collar around his neck, securing it before adding a small padlock to prevent him from removing it. “Well, now you're my bitch. And you will obey me. Now, get your ass up and let’s go.”
I stood up, glaring down at him as I waited for him to do as I said. When, after a few seconds, he was still on the floor, I reached into the box to get the controller before turning it on. He screamed out in pain before reaching up to tug on the collar, trying to remove it. I sent another wave through him before kicking him in the leg.
“Be a good little bitch and get up,” I taunted. “You think you’re so much better than she is, then show me. Let’s see if you learn obedience faster.”
He still didn’t move, so I smirked down at him. As I shifted my finger over the button again, he scrambled up.
“Shame. I was enjoying this,” I said before pressing the button again, holding it for five seconds before letting it go, almost sending him back to the floor.
Caleb covered the remote. “Enough, before he can’t walk.”
I raised an eyebrow at Will. “I’ll behave if he does. Now, march.”
We followed him slowly out of the house while I prayed that the fucker would do something that would give me a reason to shock him again. When we got to the chain-link fence, he took off running, making me chuckle as I leaned against the fence post. I turned the voltage up on the controller before shocking him again. He immediately stumbled before hitting the ground. Caleb groaned as he yanked the controller out of my hands.
“You’re going to kill the idiot!” He grumbled as he watched Will tremble.
When he finally lay still on the ground, we walked up to him. Caleb kicked him over as I crouched beside him again.
“Let me explain something to you. A human can survive very low voltage. Which, if my research is correct, is 100-250 volts. This collar, the one that is made to train bitches like you, can go up to 1500. That is going to be a very painful way to die. Isn’t it curious how fragile human bodies are? A dog can survive repeated shocks from that very same collar, but you will die. How does it feel to know that you really aren’t the top of the food chain? How does it feel to know that your life is in my hands?” I said, holding his gaze as I held up my hands. “The very same hands that are going to remind Leah just how special she is every day for the rest of her life.”
He didn’t respond, not that I actually expected him to. I was enjoying gloating. I wanted him to know that Leah was mine. I wanted him to know that she was never going to be under his control again. And more than anything, I wanted him to worry about what was going to happen after he gave Leah what she wanted. I wanted to see the fear in his eyes again as I choked the life out of him. I wanted him to know that his life was over because of how he treated the one person he was supposed to love and protect. But now it was my job. And I wasn’t going to fail her.
I took a deep breath as I stood back up before reaching down to wrap my hand around his arm so I could pull him up roughly. After dragging him to Caleb’s car, I forced him inside before showing him that the child locks were already engaged. He wasn’t getting out of the back seat unless we let him. I gave him a menacing grin.
“Buckle up, Buttercup. Shit just got real.”
I shut the door, not even bothering to check if he obeyed me. If he didn’t, he would get shocked again, but I wouldn’t tell him to do it again. I kind of hoped he chose not to wear a seatbelt. That just put him at risk. Once I got in and put on my own seatbelt, I glanced in the back seat at him, noting that, like a good little bitch, he had obeyed. Shame. I was loving shocking his stupid ass. As soon as Caleb started on the way back, I pulled my phone out to call Leah, who answered almost immediately.
“Brennan! I’ve been so worried. When you didn’t call me when you said you would, I freaked out. Not even Caleb responded to anyone! Are you okay?”
I chuckled as I glanced at him. “Yeah, we’re okay. Caleb was driving, and I fell asleep. I just wanted to call and tell you that we were on the way back.”
“So, am I going to see you tonight?” She asked excitedly.
I sighed as I glanced over my shoulder at Will, who was fuming as he stared out the window. “Not tonight, baby. I have something to do, but before you worry, I will explain it all tomorrow at the courthouse,” I told her.
She was quiet for a moment before asking, “Are you with another woman?”
“I’ll see you tonight. I can’t stay, but I’ll come see you, okay? And no, I am not with another woman. I am not going to step out of our relationship.” I glanced at Will again when he uttered a small, pleased noise, my frown deepening. “Actually, baby, why don’t you pack a bag? I’ll take you to a hotel tonight.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. Let me and Caleb get something settled, and I’ll come get you.”
“Okay.” She sighed before saying, “I hate to ask, but are you really with Caleb?”
I immediately handed him my phone. “Hey, Leah. How’s it going?”
I waited for him to talk to her for a few minutes, glaring at Will the entire time. When he gave me the phone back, I narrowed my eyes on him.
“I’m sorry, Brennan. This whole divorce court date thing tomorrow has me all anxious.”
“You don’t have to apologize, baby. I know I have a lot of things to prove to you, but please be reassured, being faithful to you will never be one of them. I love you, and I will see you tonight.”
“I love you, too, Brennan. Be safe.”
“We will.”
After we hung up, I picked up the controller, instantly pressing the button to shock him. Caleb glanced at me but didn’t say anything until I released the button.
“That one was deserved.”
I tossed the controller back down between us as I met Will’s eyes. “He deserved every single one of them, and more. I am just pissed that it is all I can do at the moment.”
