Chapter 123
Claire's POV
"I'm sorry...I had to get away" he seems even more hurt from my words
"not from you, from everything...so much is happening and nothing makes since anymore" I frown
"It'll get better I promise, all this will pass" he says to me, his golden eyes bore into mine and his hand cups my cheek
"I know" I get up on my knees and hug him
"I won't be gone long" he tells me and I nod
A pause settles and he continues to get ready "actually speaking of things happening I was planning on going to see my family..." I trail off looking up through my eyelashes at him, nervous of what he'll say
He turns to me with knitted eyebrows
"why" he says calmly but the edge to his voice makes me want to watch my next words. He starts to walk out of the room so I follow saying my next words as we glide down the wooden stairs.
"I want to get passed this drama with them...I can't stop thinking about it. I want to be the better person." I tell him honestly as we reach the bottom
He frowns, as expected not liking the idea
"I don't trust them" he says "you need protection, take Brayt with you" he instructs
"No Martin, Brayt is going to be with you and I don't need protecting...they would never actually hurt me" I tell him, debating my own words
"Take Lena then" he pleaded
I nod feeling ok with this compromise.
"Fine...I'll probably be back before your meeting ends anyways"

He nods but his eyebrows crease as he continues to think and worry. He hugs me and kisses my forehead
"call me if you need me, for anything. I'm not joking Claire, if they do or say one thing out of line I'll-" I cut him off and place my finger over his lips
I smile and nod
"yes Alpha" I giggle and he smiles lovingly at me
"I better go or I'll take you upstairs and make you moan that a thousand times over" he smirks and I flush beat red, he laughs at my reaction but I know he means it.
He kisses me and hugs me one last time before walking to the door
"by the way I'm having some of your things moved in here instead of going with your family" he tells me and my eyes go wide
"Really?" I ask loudly and excitedly, fighting the urge to jump with happiness
He smiles wide, appreciating my reaction
"yes my love...this will be your home now. With me" he says and again my smiles grows, before I can say anything else he walks out.
I start to get ready and mentally prepare myself for what is to come with my family. I hope they will take Maddoxs kindness as a lesson and be grateful I didn't agree with him on banishing them completely.
Walking into the air I take a deep breath and try not to get my hopes up too much for them being civil. Lena is already waiting for me. She smiles big and waves me over.
"Good morning" she says
I grin

"I just want you to know you're crazy" she says as a matter of fact
I raise and eyebrow
"how so..?"
"Your family....don't worry Martin has directed me to get you the hell out of there if they start acting up-" she paused a moment and looks over at me as we start to walk through the grass
"you may be crazy but I also think you're really brave....I don't think I could do what you're doing" she frowns and I match her face...not used to seeing one of the happiest and kindest people I know look so sad
"Lena" I place a hand on her shoulder and she moves her eyes up to me, placing a strand of slightly frizzy golden brown hair behind her ear
She smiles softly
"my family....they left me at Martin's fathers pack boarder when I was ten" she says softly "my older brother and sister, they were twins, were six years older than me and shifted into werewolves" she sniffles
"it skipped two generations and my Grandmother ran away from the pack after she didn't shift and promised to live a normal life and swore to never pass on her history"
I frown and continue to listen "so after my siblings shifted my parents flipped and tried to send them to my Grandmother to figure it out but she passed away a week later. They disappeared after that....I found out later they found a pack that accepted them...but for all my parents knew they were dead." She says
"my parents were frightened the same would happen to me so they researched and found my ancestors pack, Martin's Father, and dropped me off" a tear slips down her cheek
"they said they loved me but they couldn't do it"
My heart has completely sunken into my stomach by the end and I myself feel a tear threatening to fall "Lena....I'm so sorry" she had a full family and just like that it was taken from her...they all left her for nothing. She smiles kindly at me and nods
"It got better, I met Martin and Bryat and the whole pack took me in as one of there own" she wipes her cheek and her eyes light up
"I hated my family for a long time but once I realised my family was my pack it was so much better. Not to mention Bryat made me forget...he's the best thing that ever happened to me."
I instantly stop and hug her, I feel her smile against my shoulder. I pull back, feeling so much closer to her after this
"it must have been hard for you to leave the pack to come here" I frown again knowing she lost her family again
"It was a little but It's just another step in my life. I still have Brayt and Martin and I've met such wonderful people here. And made an amazing new friend" she hugs me again and I smile.
