Chapter 239
Davyna's POV
I hear muffled voices as I start to come to. I sit up and open my eyes, rubbing them to try and focus. I notice l'm back in my own room. What happened? I remember the headache, but I must have passed out.
"Caleb? Vincent?" I call out and my door opens and both my mates
come in with worried looks on their faces. They come sit at the end of the bed.
"How are you feeling?" Vincent says as he feels my forehead. "Your fever is gone now, thankfully."
"I'm okay. I just feel a bit groggy, but the pain is gone." Caleb lets out a breath.
"You had us so worried. Sage said this has happened before."I'd. "Yeah, its actually happened a few times but it didn't feel anything what just happened today. How long was I out for?" I ask, not sure if I really want to know." Vincent answers me.
"It's almost 9pm. You've been out for about 5 or some hours."
"5 HOURS?!" I exclaim.
"You both are leaving soon, aren't you? So much for spending time with you beforehand. I'm sorry." Caleb grabs my chin lightly and looks me straight in the eye.
"We enjoyed what time we did get with you today. You don't need to apologize."
"We're just glad you're alright. Do you have any idea what could be
causing these headaches?" Vincent asks as he brushes my hair out of my face. I shake my head.
"Not really..they only started after I came here. I pause to think."
"I think they started after Sage got here, I hadn't really noticed anything out of the ordinary."
"So it must be something relating to the three of us and our mate bonds then. That's the only major change that has occurred since you've arrived here." Vincent states calmly
I see Caleb and Vincent look at each other for a few minutes, and then I clear my throat.
"Whatever you're talking about in mind-link you can include me. I'm not going to break." They both look at me with apologetic faces.
"Okay, love." Vincent pauses for a slight moment and then continues,
"We've still got a couple hours before we leave, so if you're okay with it Davyna, I think it's best we talk this out and try to figure out our situation. I don't feel comfortable leaving you with so much up in the air. Especially when we don't know how long we're going to be gone for" I nod.
"I'm okay with that. I just need a snack and some water first." A
few moments later, Marcella and Sage walk in with water, a cup of
peppermint. I nod
"I'm okay with that. I just need a snack and some water first." A few moments later, Marcella and Sage walk in with water, a cup of
peppermint tea and a bag of BB0 chips. That's Sage's doing. BBQ chips are my weakness!
They sit on either side of me, putting my water and tea down on my
nightstands, and then the bag of chips goes right in my lap, courtesy of Sage. I smile at her and Marcella.
"Thank you."
"No worries, glad you're okay." Marcella says.
"We're going to stick around for this conversation. Honestly, because I think we need to be in the loop about this - well especially me since I'll be staying with you while these two butthead lovers of yours are gone." She gestures toward
them with her thumb.
I laugh out loud and then clap my hand over my mouth in
embarrassment as I just let out a witchy cackle. Geeze
Caleb and Vincent turn their heads to look at her, both of them smirking and snickering.
"You're so damn funny, Marcella." Caleb says in a mocking tone while he places his head in his hand and lets out a small
laugh.
I smile at the sentiment of that word. I can't help but think how
my future with these two might be like. Bringing myself back to current events, I start to snack on the chips and listen intently to Vincent as he starts to talk. In all honesty, I could listen to him all day.
"When Caleb and I first confirmed you were our mate, we went looking, through the archives to see if there was anything that could explain why you Davyna -a human, would be mated to two males of different supernatural species. We found some entries that had explained of a "double bond", but in looking further, it was reported that the human in those instances was manipulated into having the second bond. It was completely superficial."
He continue we did find some interesting information that seems
more likely to fit our situation. It seems that during the first wars between vampires and werewolves, there was a reported village that was rumored to consist of hybrids."
"Hybrids?" I question between mouthfuls of chips.
"What is that?"
"A supernatural being that is half vampire, half werewolf. A merge of the two species, said to be the culmination of breeding between a pure blooded vampire and an alpha werewol£" My jaw drops mid chew. I quickly swallow my mouthful and place the bag of chips aside, being completely done with them now.
"There was never really full confirmation on the existence of this village, but it was speculated that the hybrids were pat of the first wars between our species. Who they supported, we don't know. Caleb cuts in."
"We feel strongly that you are a hybrid Davyna. It would
explain why you're mated to both of us."
"How can l be a hybrid? I'm human, and was raised by humans."
Vincent clears his throat.
"We can possibly explain that too. We also found that there were some supernatural powers that have been lost to time. One of them essentially is to make a supernatural being dormant, not being able to use any abilities or powers that comes with their
respective species. It was used as a means of punishment in the past."
"So someone made me seem human to pass me off as one?"
"Exactly. This makes sense when we put together what has happened
recently. Drinking my blood, your heightened emotions, and now it
seems these headache episodes. These all happened after we
determined you were our mate. It would seem that the mate bonds,
plus being in close proximity to us is making it harder for the dormancy to stick. I don't think whoever did this expected you to find your mates."
"Wait hold up!? She drank your blood" Marcella asks, her eyes wide.
"l can only speculate, but I believe that Davyna was made dormant to protect her. As to the exact reasoning, well that is going to be hard to find out, considering we don't know who exactly
made her this way."
"But if I was e this way, that would mean that my dad... and my mom." I trail off. Not going there right now.
"Aren't your biological parents." Caleb states.
"It's true, Davyna.!" Sage speaks up.
"You're adopted. I overheard"
conversation between our parents a while ago now that you were not
their biological daughter, but that they were so thankful to have you in their lives." I look at Sage, tears threatening to well up in my eyes. I blink them back, shake my head lightly and push past the topic. I'll revisit it later when I'm mentally able.
"So how is this dormancy removed? If it's not, am I going to suffer
with this pain for the rest of my life with you both?" I question. Vincent shakes his head slightly.
"I don't know how the dormancy is removed." There was no recording of it. But considering how you've been experiencing these headache episodes and that the pain has been getting worse each time it happens, I have to say that it's possible your human body won't be able to tolerate being bound dormant for an extended period of time around us.
"So if we don't figure out how to remove it, I'll most likely die." I state plainly. Sage and Marcella gasp.
"No she can't just die. Not after she found both of you." Marcella places her arm around me.
"We obviously don't want that, so we're going to try everything we can to figure this out." She says, obviously trying to comfort me
"l want to test something." Vincent says.
"Caleb, can you feed her your blood?" Caleb looks at me,
"Only if she's okay with it." I nod.
"It's okay." Caleb holds his hand out and Vincent swipes along his wrist. Caleb then holds it up to me as the blood starts to seep out. I look at Caleb and he nods at me to let me know it's okay, and then I lean my head down and touch my mouth to his wrist. As it runs down my throat, I notice Caleb's blood has a different taste. It's still sweet, but it has some other sort of taste that is nothing like how Vincent's tasted. I can't pinpoint it.
I pull away as Caleb holds his wrist as he heals.
"Keep your eyes closed Davyna." Vincent tells me softly.
"If l'm right, once Davyna opens her eyes after a few moments, they should be bright yellow, like Caleb's when he's shifted"
I feel myself getting anxious, and then Vincent says suddenly. "Open them." I do as he asks and Caleb's face says it all. He reaches over and cups my face with his hands. "You're beautiful." Sage and Marcella get up and stand behind Caleb and their eyes widen as they look at me.
Sage reaches over and grabs my handheld mirror off my dresser thatI
sometimes use to do my makeup and hands it to me. I hold it in front of my face and look at myself. I'm not as startled as when it happened with Vincent, but sure enough my eyes are a bright yellow. It's eerie to see but again I oddly feel comfort in seeing them.
And again as they did with Vincent, my eyes start to fade back to grey shortly after
"It seems that our blood, along with the bond has a immense effect on her. It could be the key to awakening her. But we will have to look into that at a later time, once Caleb and I are back from our duties for the council."
"Speaking of which, we should head out soon." Caleb states whiles." Marcella looks at me with a stunned expression
"This is isn't tea and a bag of BBQ Chips. That's Sage's doing. BBQ chips are my weakness!"
