Chapter 169
Darius' POV
"Shift"
Rakari done what the doctor told her and shifted and I took a moment out to fully look over her in wolf form. She was brown with specks of blonde and she had green eyes. It is common for a wolfs fur to be the same as their natural hair colour and the same goes for their eyes and only in rare cases does it happen differently,
"Alpha"
I looked away from Rakari and looked at the doctor,
"Yes?"
"She'll have to stay in wolf form for at least 15 minutes for her to heal properly"
I nodded and sent Rakari a mind message,
'I have to go to a meeting Rakari, call me when you've shifted back'
'Okay'
I smiled and walked out of the room to go to my study and that was when I let all the anger surface. Just the thought of Marcus makes me want to punch something, the thought of him coming after Rakari makes me want to kill him slowly. I walked into my study and inputted the code. I walked into the second room to see all of my best fighters including my beta.
They all stood up when I entered,
"Alpha"
I nodded,
"Be seated"
They all sat back down and I took my place at the head of the table,
"If Rakari was here she'd have a fit about that"
I smiled,
"She would which is why none of us will be telling her"
They all nodded,
"We need to protect her Darius"
I sighed,
"I know but we can't be stupid and run into it, we need to plan it out properly"
"He isn't alpha, he literally hasn't declared war until his alpha says so"
"He stabbed my mate 3 times, I'm not going to sit back"
"We aren't a pack that goes and starts a war for no reason"
"What aren't you getting Danny? He needs to pay!"
"Excuse my brother Darius, what he's trying to say is that starting a war will mean involving everyone from their pack and our pack including the innocent, we can't get innocent people involved like that"
"What do you suggest we do Carl?"
He looked at me shocked, "You're asking me what we should do?"
I nodded,
"Lay it on me"
"Well, I think the best thing to do would be to wait it out"
"Elaborate"
"Marcus is bound to come back sooner or later to get Rakari back" I growled at how true that was and he wearily continued,
"So we need to keep an eye out and the next time he comes, we'll be on our toes and catch him"
"And then?"
"It's your decision from there"
I nodded and let everything sink in. The plan made sense but the question is, will I be able to control my anger?
"That could be days, weeks or months and the longer we wait, the more danger Rakari is in"
"We understand Darius but we can't risk the lives of the innocent by act"
I ran my hands through my hair,
"I'd like to ask you all a question"
They looked at each other confused but nodded anyway and I continued,
"I warned all of you about Marcus when he left the first time, how did you let him get into my room without any of you noticing?"
They all ducked their heads but not one of them answered,
"Well?!"
"We don't know"
I laughed humourlessly,
"And you expect me to trust you to keep an eye out for him? Don't get me wrong, you lot are very good fighters, some of the best but my trust in you to keep my mate safe is wearing thin"
"I can surely say I speak for everyone in the room when I say that I adore Rakari and she's a great alpha female which is why I want to protect her"
Everyone else nodded in agreement,
"I'm glad that you all like her but we need to take this seriously. She was stabbed 3 times by her ex and I know for a fact that he isn't finished"
"So do we and we are taking this seriously Darius, we don't want to fail you"
"And I don't want to be failed, we also have to think of Rakari and what she would want to do"
"Ask her, shes coming right now"
I look towards the TV's to see her walking towards my study. She knew the code so she should have no trouble getting in.
No more than 2 minutes later, the shelves were being opened and Rakari stepped in,
"Hey guys"
"Hi Rakari"
"You got it right! I'm so proud of you!"
Everyone laughed and Rakari walked over to me and sat on my lap,
"I thought you were gonna call me when you shifted back"
"You said you were in a meeting, I didn't wanna disturb you, I feel fine now anyway"
I smiled,
"Well now that you're here, I want to ask you a question"
"Go on"
"What do you think we should do about Marcus?"
"As you guys may or may not know, I'm not one for violence"
"So you want us to do nothing?"
"Hunter darling, you didn't let me finish"
He smiled,
"So yeah, I'm not a violent person but after what happened I truly hate Marcus with a passion and he needs to pay for what he did"
"Well, the decision is down to you"
"Woah, you can't jut spring that kind of responsibility on me"
I chuckled,
"We need to know what you want to do, we have to keep you safe"
"I don't know what I want to do though, I just-"
"He's back!"
I looked at the TV and sure enough he was on my land. I placed Rakari on the floor and stood up,
"Charlie, Hunter, Danny and Carl, you're with me, Rhylie and Adrian, take care of Rakari"
They nodded and I gave Rakari a quick peck on the lips before typing in the code and running out of my study to where Marcus was.
We ran outside to see him trying to climb through the window so I shifted and lunged for him, making him fall to the ground "Glad to see you Darius"
I growled at him which just made him smirk,
"Growl at me all you want, I'll get Rakari back"
He shifted from underneath me and we started circling each other, not one of us making the first move afraid of making a mistake.
He got impatient and lunged for me but I saw it coming so I ducked and quickly turned around and pounced on him, snapping my teeth close to his neck but his thrashing made it very hard. He pushed me off of him and we went back to circling each other once again.
I knew i wouldn't be able to fight him off myself so I sent a message to Carl, Hunter, Charlie and Danny,
'Shift!'
