Chapter 91
Claire's POV
I quickly walk over to my house and step into chaos. My mothers running around trying to tighten my father's tie why brushing her hair and Beverly is running up the stairs and into the bathroom, half her hair curled
"go get ready now, your dress is already laid out" my Mother instructs putting in a pair of dangly earrings.
I nod and look over her, she's wearing a dark grey dress coming down to her knees. A belt accentuates her small waist and matching heels have a small dark blue bow on the toe. Her blonde hair is curled and half of it is pulled back letting the rest fall down her shoulders. Light makeup is painted into perfection on her face.
"You look nice" I compliment but she waves me of and tells me to hurry...I see she's back to normal now.
I make my way upstairs, confused on why I need to look nice, it's not like he'll look at Tara made that clear. I'm sure his type is more like Beverly, the rest of the wolves love her and I have no doubt my parents will stop at nothing to get there beloved daughter with someone as high up as an alpha.
I step into my room and see the dress my Mother has picked out. It's a light blue summer dress, it has thin straps and white lining across the hems, buttons line up the middle and a small bow rest on the middle of the bust. I smile, glad she didn't force me to wear one of Beverly's dresses.
I strip from my leggings and T-shirt and slip it over my body. I zip it up by myself and smile as I twirl in the mirror. It actually looks very nice. I smile and run my hands through my silver strands, maybe I should curl it. No that'd be too much. It already has waves throughout because of the layers in my hair. I just brush my fingers through it and put on a pair of flats.
As I step out of my room Beverly, who has the room across from me, steps out as well. She's in a flashy bright red dress, it hugs her hourglass body to a T. Her heels are at least three inches and her makeup is fresh and flawless, dirty blonde locks curled.
She rolls her eyes as she sees me and heads down stairs. I sigh and walk into the bathroom, compared to my Sister and Mother I feel like I should do maybe more. I put on a little eyeliner, mascara, and clear gloss on my already red lips. I smile at my reflection and run my hand through my hair once more.
I step out of the bathroom and head for the stairs
"come on Claire we can't be late" my Father says, irritated, and I nod hurrying down to them
They're already out the door by the time I make it to the last step. I follow the three of them through the grass to the entrance of our pack where the alpha is supposed to come in by. There's already a crowd of people split in half to allow a walkway for him. The grass is wet from a light shower hours ago, the yellow gleam of sunlight leaks trough the light grey clouds and makes the ground sparkle.
I shake my head and look around, everyone really is dressed in there best. The warriors are placed in the front of the forrest opening, the council is next, that's where we are, and then the rest of the pack is behind us.
I see Tara on the other side of the walkway, the empty green grass separates us. I start to walk over to her but my father places a strong hand on my shoulder and pulls me back, I look up to his blue eyes and he shakes his head, I frown but stay put.
"Hey" I hear someone say beside me and I turn to see Lawrence
"Hey" I smile and move away from my family a little, making sure to still be next to them.
I'm surprised at his calmness I thought he'd be more angry about the alpha
"Are you ready to meet the new Alpha?" He asks and I shrug with a sigh
"I just feel like everyone forgot about Kenneth" I say quietly, keeping down my tears
Lawrence frowns and apologise "everyone just wants to make a good impression for the new guy that's all" he tells me and I nod
Everyone stops there chatter when we hear hard sets of paws slamming down into the earth. A deep, spine chilling howl erupts from the forrest, birds flying away as it echoes off the trees. My heart rate spicks as we hear them get closer. They stop running in the distance and a few moments later we hear regular footsteps but still the ground shakes at the intensity. Chill bumps appear on my arms and I flatten out my dress, feeling more nervous than I thought.
I keep my head down, the sound of three people's footsteps getting closer. When I hear several quiet gasps my eyes beg to lift but I keep them down. There scents fill my nose and one in particular smells different from anything I've smelt before...it must be the alphas. At this point I wish I could hear what the pack was thinking, I want to know what he looks like but something inside me forces my eyes down.
My eyes shift over to my family, Father stands tall like he's trying to show off, my Mother hugs my father's arm and smiles like she was just awarded the Nobel prize. My Sister on the other hand pulls down her already low cut dress further, exposing her cleavage. She smiles and runs her hand through her hair and bites her red stained lips. I roll my eyes but my heart continues to beat rapidly. I can't help, it I have to see.
I lift my eyes slowly and sweep the pathway to see what my family's act is all about. I see three people, a man, probably around twenty, with a woman to his hip, who looks the same age. He's attractive, chestnut brown hair messily spiked up in a quiff, dark green eyes and tan skin. The girl on his arm I'm assuming is his mate, her hair is blonde with natural dark lowlights all the way through. Her golden eyes are bright as she looks around and waves to the people she passes, her pink lips curled up in and a smile. I smile, sharing her giddiness, my eyes move to the man in front of the two of them, walking down the grass walkway like a god. I suck in a deep breath and step back a little, bumping into Lawrence.
He's a giant, at least 6'4", dark hair like night, skin bright and light tanned, his golden eyes like the sun scan the area like he's looking for something, his jaw clicks, jaw line sharp with a short dark stubble. He pulls his lips in a line and his dark eyebrows furrow. My heart skips a beat staring at him but I quickly close my mouth and recollect myself.
Everyone he passed bows there head, the warriors kneel on one knee and keep there head down
"why arn't you over there with the warriors?" I ask Lawrence, turning my head up at him
"I asked my dad to stand by-" his eyes move from me back up to the pathway, my eyes follow, trying to figure out why he stopped.
My eyes meet our new Alphas, I gasp seeing him coming right up to me. I hold my breath and try to tear my eyes from him but I just can't. His large cheat falls up and down heavily, his eyes are deep and piercing through me, knocking the breath out of me.
