Chapter 251
Davyna's POV
I turn around, surprising him as l push him back down on the lounge chair and kiss him softly, as I move up to straddle him. He runs his hands through my hair, and then cups the back of my neck with one hand, deepening the kiss until we break away from each other, my heart hammering in my chest.
"Let's go unpack." I say slyly as I get off of him and walk to the doorway. He looks toward me, his hazel eyes smoldering as he looks me up and down
"God damnit, Davyna."
"l can tease too." I go and take off towards the bedroom, and once I get in, I have no chance to do anything. I'm suddenly pinned against the wall, hands above my head. Vincent buries his face in my neck, kissing and love biting me until I feel like my legs are going to give out.
"We will continue this later, once I feed and have a bit more control." He pulls away from me, his eyes now blazing red.
"You can feed off me you know that right?" I say as he lets go of my arms and I bring them down to my sides.
"No, I wouldn't do that to you, Davyna." He says plainly as he turns and walks towards the suitcases and grabs his and lifts it on top of the bed and quickly unzips it.
"Why not?" I question, feeling slightly offended that he wouldn't take my - his mate's - blood.
"Because l just won't. Can we get off this topic please?" He asks as he begins to remove his things from his suitcase and put them away in an armoire near his side of the bed.
"There has to be a reason, not that you just won't. You're a vampire. Blood sustains you!" I state, feeling myself getting irritated how he is just dismissing me.
"Regardless of the reason, it still won't change my mind. I won't feed off you, Davyna." I go to open my mouth again, and he cuts me off abruptly.
"Drop. It. I mean it." He says as he looks at me with an angry expression, his eyes still tinged red.
I look at him wide-eyed, feeling pretty hurt. He's never talked to me like this. Ever. Well then. I keep quiet, anger bubbling at the surface.
I grab my own suitcase, roughly placing it on the floor. I open it and start remove my things as well, an awkward silence taking over the room.
Moments pass in silence as we unpack, and I manage to get most of my things placed around the room, aside from the lingerie. I leave that in my wrapped up in my suitcase, knowing that I can't even look at it right now, considering any and all mood that was started is completely gone.
"I'm going to go check on a few things, and check in with the staff. I'll be back later." Vincent says coldly. I don't even give a response as he heads out and closes the doors to the room. I sit on the left side of the bed, feeling utterly defeated. Tears start to form in my eyes. What a perfect first night.
Vincent's POV
I know I hurt her feelings when I told her to drop it. I saw her facial expression. I sigh loudly as I grab a bottle of blood from the fridge downstairs. I did talk to the staff and double check what I needed to for the evening, but I couldn't bring myself to go back upstairs right away.
I don't expect her to understand. This is a hard subject for me to
approach, but even I said that this is a trip to be able to open up to her.
Which means about this too.
I swirl the blood in the glass and sigh again. I feel the guilt rise and I get up and head back upstairs, ready to apologize for treating her so badly. I open the doors, about to speak, but then I see her laying on her side of the bed, sleeping. I go over and tuck her in, noticing the wetness on her pillowcase as she breathes evenly in her sleep. My heart hurts worse now, knowing I made her cry.
I really messed up. I kiss her forehead, down the last remnants of the glass of blood, finally feeling a bit more in control. I change into some Pyjama pants and climb into my side, making a mental note to apologize profusely when we wake in the morning after battling with a life threatening disease, Stephanie finally got the all clear on her health.
Davyna's POV
I stir awake slightly, rubbing my eyes. I roll over and notice l'm alone in the bed. Did Vincent not sleep here last night? I sit up, my stomach churning with nerves as I remember our heated discussion last night. I overstepped a line. I shouldn't have pushed him to answer if he wasn't ready to talk about it. Whatever it was, it upset him greatly, and I really have to learn to keep my mouth shut sometimes.
Riders of Silence ...
I sigh, and swing my legs over the edge of the bed. I hop off and adjust my pyjamas and head into the bathroom to wash my face and tame my wild curls. Once finished, I walk back out and open the double doors to go and find Vincent.
I'm greeted by a wonderful smell coming from downstairs. I make my
way down and peek my head into the large kitchen near the back of the house. I smile as I see Vincent, bare chested with just pyjama pants on,whistling some tune while he makes food.
"Vincent?" I say quietly, trying to judge his mood and see if he's still angry at me. He turns and sees me, eyes scanning over me as I stand there in my burgundy shorts and tank top - actually one of the new sets.
Marcella bought for me "Good morning, love." He walks over to me and pulls me in for a kiss.
"I'm so." He cuts me off by placing his finger on my lips.
"I know. I am too. Fresh start today?" I nod.
"Come sit, I made you some breakfast."
"You didn't have to do that." say as I sit at the kitchen island right in front of the main counters and stove, as Vincent returns to cooking. Minutes later, a plate of bacon, eggs, fruit and toast is placed in front of me.
"This looks amazing Vincent. Thank you" He hands me a fork.
"Dig in. We've got plans today."
I happily take the fork from him and begin to eat. In between mouthfuls.
l ask him,
"What are we doing today?" I see him head into the fridge and
grab a bottle of blood for himself, a glass of water for me and then he comes and sits beside me, watching me eat.
"You and I are going into town today. Shopping, taking in the scenery, walking in the park, you name it." He pauses,
"Then we have dinner reservations at my favourite restaurant here."
"Dinner? You're eating?" I ask curiously, knowing that in this entire time I've known him. I've never seen him eat food, At all. "Yes I can eat food taste it and I do enjoy it. But it doesn't satiate me so I usually opt out of it. But this is a special occasion, so we're going to go for dinner, and after....we can talk about what caused our little argument last night." l immediately reply,
"If you don't want to tell me Vincent, that's okay. I totally understand. It took me a long time to be comfortable enough to
open up to you and Caleb."
"Yes, but you have opened up to us, and we hardly have to you. It's not fair to you to keep you in the dark about my previous struggles. I want to be completely honest with you and for you to know everything about me." I look at him and our eyes lock momentarily.
"I love you, Vincent" He leans in and places his forehead against mine.
"I love you too. I am so sorry I upset you so much last night. It's not what I wanted at all."
"I know." He kisses my forehead and nods towards my plate.
"Finish up, we can get ready and head out when you're done."
"You got it, boss." I tease and he smiles.
Vincent's POV
Davyna and I are currently getting ready to head out to explore Avern. peek into the bathroom, seeing her in front of one of the sinks, putting on her makeup. I lean against the doorframe, admiring her. Her luscious black ringlet curls cascade down her back, having been styled and doesn't have.
