Chapter 259

Davyna's POV

"How far are your packlands, Caleb?" I ask as I look out the window of the passenger side of the car.

"Midnight Moon is about 2 hours in the opposite direction of the compound, so we've still got a bit of a drive ahead of us."

"Well. I'll tell you exactly what I told Vincent when we were heading to Avern. I don't mind helping with the drive if you need a break."

"IIl keep it in mind, baby." He says, eyes focused on the road.

"is it different at the packlands?" I ask, trying to get some more

information before we get there.

"It's very different from Avern. Werewolf life and culture is drastically different then vampire life."

"Vincent told me that I shouldn't worry too much about the fact that my vampire side awakened already, was he right?"

"He was. You'll be accepted regardless since you are my mate and future. Luna of the pack. There's no doubt there, but it's hard to say how your hybridism will be accepted. We will deal with that when it comes you." I turn to look at him and smile good and easing my worries lately. I see him smirk.

"And I hear you're getting pretty good at sneaking into your mate's shower." I smack his leg,

"Vincent told you?!" He laughs.

"Of course he did. I mean I've gotta prepare myself for any stunts you might pull with me." scoft

"Sure. Maybe won't with you now that you're expecting it"

Caleb quickly looks towards me, feigning a sad face.

"Oh how will I live?"

I smack him on the leg again.

"Oh stop." I chuckle

"I think you might have to be prepared for me. We're at my home.

know the place like the back of my hand, so l'd watch your back" He

winks at me and then turns his attention back to the road. I guess this week will definitely be an interesting one.

It feels like ages, but finally we're close.

"Only about 15 or so minutes until we reach Midnight Moon." Caleb says as I stretch in my seat. I had a decent sleep while we drove, and of course just like Vincent, Caleb did not ask me to help with the long drive. Men.

Putting that aside, I feel excitement bubbling up as I look out the

window; the sun shining brightly, illuminating the beautiful trees and greenery around us. We then turn onto another road and go deeper into the forest. My eyes widen as we come into a clearing and I see houses upon houses lined up. It's almost like a small subdivision, but surrounded my forest. There are werewolves walking all around. Some in wolf from, some in human from.

"Those are residences for the families who live here in the pack. Each family has their own house." Caleb explains as we pass them. We pass another large building as we continue down the road.

"That is the training center for our warriors here who defend the packlands, and the current Beta's house - the wolf who is second in command- is just on the other side of that."

We keep driving and come up to a larger house near the back of the tree line, that has a large lake beside it.

"This is the packhouse. Meetings and important gatherings are held here. Banquets, feasts, weddings within the pack, etc." It's a more modernized building then the residences with it's large open windows that line the front and rectangular shaped exterior. There are multiple balconies at the varying stories of the house, with large pillar supports beneath them. It blends in beautifully with the surrounding forest due to the varied tones of brown wood paneling used over the entire structure.

"Is that where we are staying?" I ask, and Caleb shakes his head. "Nope, we're coming up to it though." We take a road that goes around It's completely made of interlocking multi-toned grey stone bricks, with wooden trim around every rectangular window. The black shingled roof same soon round the edges, tying it in to the rest of the house. It's at the edge of the forest, the trees winding around as if the house was born from them, not built. It's not as large as the packhouse but I can only assume it looks bigger inside. To me, it has more of a cottage feel, yet it's definitely more than just a vacation house.

"Welcome to my family home, baby." Caleb says as he comes to stand

beside me.

"it's beautiful. Honestly. both you and Vincent's families sure

know how to build houses."

"A lot of time was spent on all the structures here. We take pride in our home."

"I can see that." I say as I continue to stare. I'm brought out my

admiration as I hear the trunk of the car close. I turn just in time as Caleb passes me with a few of the bags. I go to grab a couple of the smaller ones and I hear Caleb.

"Don't worry about those. I'l grab the rest later. Come and see inside." I sigh and follow him in through the large stained wooden door. Again, my arms aren't broken. I wish these guys would let me carry my own bags! I take in the sight around me and my jaw drops again. The main floor is completely open, with the staircase that leads to the upper level at the far back to the right. There are two stone pillars in the center of the living area, that seem to support most of the structure as most of the main floor is without full walls. There is a large matching stone fireplace on the far partial right wall, that separates the kitchen,, dining and den

area from the rest of the main floor. The floors are a dark hardwood, and that colour of the hardwood has been used on all the of trim on the white ceiling, including the large beam that spans the entire length of it. I follow Caleb as he heads upstairs. We walk down the hallway that has the same white walls and wooden trim and floors, We pass two rooms on the right and three on the left as we come to a split in the hallway on the right. We pass two more rooms and then come to a set of large double wooden doors.

"This is my 'wing' of the house. Those two rooms we passed are my office and my workout room. This.." He pauses as he puts the bags down and places his hands on the handles. "Is my room."

Caleb then pushes the doors open and grabs the bags again. His room is similar to the colour scheme he has at the compound, all navy blue and dark wood. His bed is on the farthest left wall, with a large window behind the headboard. There's two dark wooden nightstands on either side, and a small black rug in the middle of the room. He has mounted TV in the middle of the rear wall that we're facing, with a small navy couch in front. Caleb places the bags down near the two large dressers on the right side of the room and I see another door between them which I go over and peek in. It's the bathroom, and it is similar to how Vincent's was, with a large shower at the back, a large tub to the left and

two sinks on the right side, and a full one piece mirror anchored above the sinks that spans almost the entire wall.

"Unpack, and I'll go grab the rest of the bags, okay?" I nod, and Caleb kisses my temple and walks back out. I grab my biggest suitcase and start to take out my clothes and place them in the dresser on the right side of the bathroom door. I grab my toiletry bag and bring it into the bathroom and set it on the counter. When I'll head back out of the bathroom, Caleb returns with the rest of the bags. We take some time to unpack fully, and after I've finished, I lay back on the bed. My stomach growls loudly, and Caleb laughs.

"I guess you're hungry. Let's go grab some food downstairs, and then you up for a little walk outside?"

"Sure, sounds good to me." I reply with a smile. Caleb grabs my hand and we walk downstairs together.
