Chapter 204
Darius' POV
The restaurant cheered and I chuckled and gently slipped the ring onto her finger before lightly kissing it and leaning up to kiss her,
“I love you” I said against her lips and she pulled away and leant her forehead against mine,
“I love you too my sexy fiancé”
I let out a low growl,
“You have no idea how hot that sounds coming out of your sexy little mouth”
She nodded and walked over and sat down on the bed next to me,
“You thinking about your mum?”
I nodded,
“Yeah and you”
She looked at me confused,
“Me? Why?”
“You’ve gotten me through the past 2 months, without you I don’t know what I would’ve done”
“I’m your mate, it’s my job to look after you and comfort you”
“It should be me comforting you not the other way around”
“It doesn’t matter Darius, you needed me and I was there”
I sighed,
“I know I’m sorry”
She took my hand in hers,
“Are you going to visit your mum today?”
I shook my head,
“I went yesterday”
I go and visit my mum 3 times a month. We had her funeral exactly a week after she died and it was so emotional that we didn’t even have a reception because everyone was crying so much, I literally cried myself to sleep that night and every other night for the next week after that until I realised that my mum wouldn’t want me to be doing that. It’s still hard but I’m very slowly getting used to the fact that she’s not coming back, as hard as it is to accept that,
“What are you going to do today?”
“How about we spend today together? We haven’t done that in a while”
She smiled and nodded,
“I’d like that”
“Let’s go take a shower then”
She looked at me shocked,
“Together?”
I nodded,
“That’s if you
want to, I mean, I know we haven’t really done that lately”
The reason she was shocked was because ever since everything happened, we haven’t really been intimate as much as we used to, only on rare occasions. Most of the time we were just too upset or just not up to it but I missed being able to touch her and being able to kiss all over her anytime I wanted, I just miss her in general and I feel like a horrible mate for pushing her away from me,
She laughed,
“Bit excited aren’t you?”
“Why wouldn’t I be? The most perfect girl agreed to marry me”
She blushed lightly,
“Come on”
She took my hand and pulled me up from the chair and we both walked out of the study towards the back of the pack house and when we got outside, the whole pack was patiently waiting for us so we stepped onto the stage and I stood in front of the microphone,
“Hey guys, I apologise for calling a meeting on such short notice but me and Rakari have an announcement to make”
I wrapped my arm around Rakari’s waist and pulled her closer to me,
“I have asked her to marry me and she has said yes”
The whole crowd burst into cheers and me and Rakari just laughed, I never knew they would be this excited about it,
“When’s the wedding?!”
“Who’s invited?!”
“Where is it going to be held?!”
“Who’s organizing it?!”
A range of questions were being fired at us all at once so I put my hand up and everyone went quiet immediately,
“I can tell that you are just as excited as we are about this” The crowd laughed,
“I will have everything sorted out, as for the first 4 questions I heard, a date has not been set yet, everyone is invited of course, as we have no date, we can’t decide a venue and finally me and Rakari will personally select people from the pack who we feel will do a great job at organizing the wedding”
The crowd erupted into a range of murmurs and I smiled down at Rakari, who all of a sudden looked nervous so I sent her a mind message,
‘Baby, are you okay? You’re not having second thoughts are you?’
She looked up at me shocked, ‘Of course not!’
‘Then why the nervous look?’
She sighed out loud and moved out of my hold so that she could stand in front of the microphone,
The crowd went quiet and looked at Rakari patiently, waiting to hear what she had to say,
“I have another announcement to make, something that only I know but I feel I should share”
I looked at her confused and she took a deep breath before revealing her announcement,
“I’m pregnant”
The crowd gasped and I just looked at her in shock. How did I not know this?! I moved closer to her and sniffed the air and sure enough, her scent had changed which was a sign that she was indeed pregnant… once again, how did I not notice this?!
“I know that it’s a bit of a shock but it’s better now that it’s out in the open”
“How far along are you?!”
I growled and faced the crowd,
“Don’t even think about shouting out questions towards her!”
Rakari placed a hand on my arm which I unconsciously shrugged off and I looked at her to see she had taken a few steps back and was now looking to the ground so I addressed the crowd once more,
“We will update you on the wedding plans and on the baby but for now you are dismissed!”
Everyone bowed their heads before dispersing and going their separate ways and I ran my hands through my hair before turning to face Rakari,
“Why now? Why would you announce it to everyone else knowing that I had no clue?”
“You were stressed Darius, I was too scared to tell you, you were at a vulnerable stage, I didn’t know how you’d react to it”
“What, do you think I would’ve shouted at you? Told you to get rid of it? Laid my hand on you?! What do you think I would’ve done Rakari?!”
“I don’t know okay?! I was just scared!”
“Why?! I just don’t understand why?! Why would you be scared of me?”
I whispered the last part and I could see a tear fall from Rakari’s eye and I so badly wanted to wipe it away from her beautiful face but I needed to clear this up first,
“I wasn’t scared of you, I just- I don’t know, I just didn’t know how to tell you”
“That’s our pup Rakari, our child, our DNA and you chose to hide it from me?”
“I’m sorry!”
“How far along are you?”
She looked down to the ground,
“A month”
I looked at her shocked. One month she’s been hiding this from me?! One month!
“I-I just, I can’t believe you; I can’t believe you would keep this from me. You knew how much I wanted a child, an heir to the pack, someone to teach right from wrong, someone to be a role model for and you just, hid it”
“Darius I know and I’m so sorry, you have to believe me when I say that”
“I’m such a horrible mate. You were pregnant for a whole month and I couldn’t even see the signs! Those times you were vomiting and I thought you were just sick but I was too blind to see the real truth!”
“Darius no”
“No! Don’t lie to me Sakari! Just don’t, I’ve had enough lies for one day!”
She flinched and ducked her head,
“I didn’t lie”
“No, you hid it which isn’t much better”
She looked up at me and narrowed her eyes before walking up to me with new found determination and confidence and pushed me which made me move back a couple steps,
“I hate it when you’re like this!”
She pushed me again,
“I tell you I was too scared to tell you and you come out with this?!”
She pushed me once more, “Yes, I did the wrong thing and hid it but did you ever stop to think why?! No! Because you don’t give a fuck!”
And another push,
“You go off on some routine! First you blame me, then you blame yourself and then you play the guilt card!
“You really have a lot of guts to walk in here after what you did Sharise”
“I know but I’ll do anything to get back into the pack, I miss my mate”
“Unless you can turn back time, nothing will make me accept you back into the pack”
“Can I at least see Tyler?”
“Why should I let you? I want you to know what it feels like to lose someone you love”
“Please Darius!”
“You don’t deserve to call me by my name, I’m alpha to you!”
“Okay fine! Please alpha! Just let me see him! Please!”
Tears fell down her face and I almost felt sorry for her but then my wolf scolded me and I went back to hating her and just when I was about to say no, Rakari spoke up,
“We’ll let you see him this once and I do not take back what I said. You’re still my sister so give me time to think about whether or not I’ll let you back into the pack. Go and see Tyler but don’t let me catch you in this pack house again because I will not be happy, understand?”
She nodded,
“Yes I understand, thank you”
